How we take the positive from last year

Dark
Year behind,
Chinks of light
Flicker in eyes,
As the new year starts.
Blindsided as we were,
By a microbe. New life sees
Optimism rising, despite
Hesitant hearts, our heads held high.
Defeat no option, day by day we fly
Into a future meant to be different.
Sights not seen in eons, Everest so clear,
Nature spreads to strange places, clarity of birdsong.
Going forward
Can we keep this
New side effect
Of a sad year
To make for all,
A Lovely Day.
