Beauty in Starkness

There's something about a desert landscape.
an endless vastness of unique beauty.
Cactuses, like soldiers, stand tall and proud,
against a purple and yellow sunset
A backdrop of multi-colored mountains
watching over the shrubs and sand below
are guardians of the rugged terrain.

Often the wind creates artistic shapes,
swirling patterns of delight to the eye.
Beauty is found in the cactus flowers,
a surprise attached to its prickly stem.
Acacia trees provide some shelter
from the hot blistering sun that beats down.
Nature's best in a harsh environment
