Donatta stomped into the bedroom. âWhere have you been?â She addressed this question to Mike. âUm. Well, right here. Reading. Whereâve you been?â He closed his book with a snap. Challenged her question with more than a question in return. He challenged her with that look she hated. Smug, in control, the look that heâd been up to no good. âI know youâve been out and about. Youâve got that look, and the car isnât parked the way you usually park it.â Donatta held out keys - jingling them. âSo now Iâm also being judged on not only looking a certain way, but also by the way the car is parked? Cruel, Donatta, The car floated on a cloud found on a mountain top. The trip down was nice, but a little dicey as we got to town. I steered the best I could. So, if the tires are a little left of center, blame the atmospheric pressure.â Mike winked at her. Donatta leaned down, sniffed Mike. âNot smoking the devilâs weed again, are youâŚâ âNope. Free and clean. As we discussed, you will remember. High on life and my wonderful Donatta.â âYou lie, but you are cute.â Donatta sat beside him, gave him a big kiss. âAlright, you pass the test.â Then she left to check on the baby. âFloating on a cloudâŚthatâs a good one.â âRead it somewhere. Or maybe it was on TV. Or in a movie.â Mike shouted as she left the room. Donatta returned. âTake me and little Charlotte next time.â âWhere?â âUp in your cloudmobile.â So the next day they made their way up to Crazy Woman Peak. The clouds formed, Mike drove up one. As promised, they floated down to the garage. âYouâre right, it is hard to park,â stated Charlotte. W/C 298 |
