Taking It In

Before they travel
Into a fresh adventure
They buy groceries.

She strews fresh bread crumbs
At the rest stop while
Greedy squirrels watch closely.

Lucille’s Roadhouse’s stop
Offers food and tchotchkes that
Tout Route Sixty-Six.

Imbibing limeade
Tortilla chips and salsa
Honeymoon over, new home.
