A poem I wrote a couple of years ago

Being Human

Being human is waking up, eating breakfast,
going to school/work every day
Driving there/taking the bus
And wanting to go back home
And wishing you were somewhere else

Being human is coming back home
Either doing your homework or plumping yourself on the couch
Whilst thinking about the things you still need to do
And how much it infuriates you
No matter how small the task is

Being human is eating your dinner,
Brushing your teeth, going to bed
Being caressed in the softness of the sheets
And then waking up,
And doing the same thing again

Being human is seeing the same things all the time
Even though it seems really boring,
You still find joy in it
No matter what

Being human is being with those you love
Cherishing each moment you are there with them
And taking in their weird scents.
Even when they constantly pester you
Their still there for you

Being human is making sure you are healthy
And exercising regularly
Even though it seems really hard
You have to do it
If you wanna live a happy life

Being human is finding what life has instore for you
And finding out what the meaning is
Maybe you find it
Maybe you don't
I don't know

Being human is coming to appreciate your surroundings
Admiring the beauty of the world
And listening to everyone talk.
No matter how crazy it seems
Its where we live
