A Drabble (exactly 100 words) about a parent dealing with a poser.

The other day my daughter asked me, "Why do people use foreign words when there are words in their own language that mean the same thing?"

A father should always be able to provide his child with a reasonable answer to a reasonable question, but this was a bit tricky. "To show off, maybe?"

"To show off what? That they think they know something the other person doesn't know? Isn't that a little snobby?"

"Maybe." Apparently she'd forgotten that I often use foreign words. But I suppose she did have a good point.

But c'est la vie. I'm only human.
