Pretentious

Callous

I wanted the callous piece of you
And pretended that it was careful
Dull heartache ebbing with grace

The pictures are from yesterday
None of them a ghost of my image
I knew better than to give Her away

Within the solace of springtime blues
Shades of a false life flicker, gently
Replaying shoddily on a glass pedestal

He is a precious, vintage camera
Quiet room rearranged in neat folds
And the retort lies on my tongue
