Honesty only pays in heaven. On earth there is always a cost |
| Your lamp lights my path, both harsh and steep, Though jagged stones may cut where I must tread; The easy way would lull my soul to sleep, But I know where such wide roads have led. Your words are hammers forged in sacred flame, To break the walls that lies and shadows raise; Too blunt for those who trade in charm or shame, Too strange for courts that deal in shallow praise. I walked with others once, but they withdrew; Their hearts found comfort chasing darker themes. While they sought night, you kept me true, Reality outweighed their sweetest dreams. Your word, O Lord, still shines beneath my feet; You give me strength when mine is in retreat. Notes ▶︎ |
