Ann Drake’s eyes started to open as a voice bellowed “On your feet”. Her vision started to clear as she raised her head surrounded by the dusty air. The last thing she remembered was laying on her bed and watching a western movie on her television. She was also rubbing the wishing gem she had just bought at a yard sale.
Standing up, she realized she was wearing different clothes and had a pistol strapped to her thigh. A tall man stood across from her ina position ready to draw his pistol.
“Going to count to three and then we draw.” “ONE”
How did she get here? She was thinking about what it would be like to live in those times.
“TWO”
She felt her body starting to tense,
“THREE”
Her hand pulled her pistol before his hand reached his holster. Her gun fired and he fell to the ground. As quickly as the pistol was drawn, it was back in her holster”.
“Did I just do that”? “I just shot and killed a man” she thought.
A hand touched her shoulder. It was the sheriff.
“Never seen anyone draw as fast as that before”. Before he could utter another word, Ann pulled her pistol, twirled it and it was back in the holster in a second.
“Wow”. Watching in amazement, he then said “ You better get out of town before Deek’s brothers find you”.
This whole experience didn’t seem real. Ann felt she was another person.
As quickly as the sheriff spoke, Ann was back in her bedroom. She suddenly realized the western that was on the television was where she had been.
“Where are my clothes I had on”. She was still dressed in her western outfit and still carried a pistol. Looking in the mirror, she had on the clothes she was wearing before “What is happening “
