Sunday, December 7, 2025
Grilled cheddar cheese on seven grain bread with flax seeds
Sold at the farmer’s market
Butter thick on each side.
Medium high
Burnt a little
No one cares.
Enough cheese to please,
A couple of tomatoes,
Dijon mustard,
A dill pickle slice or several.

Six year old Sarah is thrilled! “Honey,” my stepdad tells my mom, “It’s got to be sweet gherkins or nothing.” He pulls the long dill pickle slices off the sandwich.

“Let me have them, Grandpa,” my little niece says. She is playing with giant pickle caterpillars and a tomato butterfly.
