Spirit

Flames lick the air
To release
The spirit of trees.

Echoes of the past
Fill the air
Spirits of people heard.

The long winter slowly
Relents
With the sun’s return.

Light pierces the sentinel
Inch by foot,
The cold season now leaving.

Sunlight fills the sky
Completing
The cycle of life.
