When spring comes, so gently
a walk in the neighborhood is so nice
birds sing so joyfully jubilant
in the trees swaying with firm green leaves
bright roses peep from prickly bushes
light music or voices can be heard
coming from somewhere
carried by the wind
the smell of fresh laundry wafts from a garage
a leashed dog gallops happily ahead of its owner
while a contented cat peers from a white-framed window
the air brings hope and laughter
the earthy scent of freshly mowed lawns
mingles with exhaust fumes from cars
that gently coast by on the cemented street
I take in these things as I go by
and for a moment all is well.
