When a new headteacher is appointed at Primrose Primary School, lots of strange things start to happen. Shirley is one of two secretaries and she has a secret - she has two black cats and a broomstick, which she keeps in a cupboard under the stairs.
The headteacher also has a new broom and she is determined to sweep clean with it, upsetting a lot of the staff in the process.
The caretaker, Gerald, likes a quiet life and enjoys fishing, but during the Christmas holidays he finds something which nobody would ever want to find - a dead body and it is on school premises: but who does it belong to and who put it there?
