WHEN I'M GONE

A writing prompt encouraged me to write my own obituary.

Marcella (Marcy) Ellis Sheck departed this life on her birthday, February 26, 2039, at the age of 92, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is survived by her husband, William Sheck, and her daughter, retired Major Maryanna Louise Sheck.

Her Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, March 16, 2039, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please keep the Sheck family in your prayers. The Joseph A. Scarano Sterling Memorial Chapel is honored to assist the Sheck family with the arrangements.

Marcy spent the majority of her life in the transportation and customer service industry, working for Eastern Airlines, TWA, and Continental Airlines. Throughout her customer service career, she excelled, receiving many complimentary letters and accolades. She also excelled in IT, working as a programmer for all three airlines.

Marcy departed peacefully in her sleep from natural causes. The family requests donations to St. Jude in place of flowers. You can also plant a tree in her memory through Scarano on her memorial page.

Marcy was an outgoing, feisty, and adventurous soul. She was a loyal and compassionate friend who was always up for a road trip anywhere. Marcy loved solving puzzles and watching murder mysteries, often figuring out the culprit before the end of the movie. She could — and would — talk to anyone, which made her especially gifted in her customer service roles.

Marcy will be greatly missed. Since high school, her motto was “Go for it!” Many of her NMSHS alumni remembered that and told her so at her high school reunion.
