I was born in the Philippines. At age 11, I came to the United States with my mother and three brothers. Like many immigrants, my brothers and I were forced to give up our natural language (Tagalog) and adapt to a “new culture”. My grandfather was an American War hero that died during battle in the Philippines. Hubbard is my mother’s maiden name and claim ancestry from the British. Our Jewish (Cohen) heritage will eventually end with the birth of my son.
