In the depths of a dark winter, a deer emerges from the fog of snow. The trees are lifeless, twisted branches stretching into the air. The deer is staring at you, their beautiful eyes piercing into your soul. They are more than an animal and know why you're here. You don't remember what brought you into the snow. And something is behind the deer, waiting, its eyes flaring underneath the beam of your flashlight. You take a step back. And then it's gone. The deer turns around and follows whatever it was into the darkness. This time, they have decided to spare the fool.
