Summary of this DVD... | ||
I saw this in the theatre and it was fine, and I think I actually preferred it on the TV because the visual flaws are less obvious. This film is a mess. The plot-holes, the multiversal jumps, the fan-service (and you have to be so into DC film lore to get all of them, like Nicholas Cage and the giant spider), the three Batmen (Batmans?), it was all such a messy pile of meh. And yet... I bought this on DVD, and I have watched it twice. So far. It is not a great film, and the acting from Ezra Miller is not brilliant, but I still liked it because the concept as a whole is strong, coming as it does (at least in part) from the comics. This is a weird mix.
This type of DVD is good for...
People with pretty undemanding tastes. People who want to watch bad movies.
I especially liked... | ||
Yeah, as much as I ragged on it earlier, I did like the little nods to old DC movie lore. And the fact the death of Supergirl (spoiler!) was a set point in time that creates all the issues. Oh, and Michael Keaton. Little things like that.
I didn't like... | ||
Some of the visual effects were not good. Miller's acting was not good. The fact it felt like it was setting up for a sequel was also not good.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
Were a mixed bag. Ezra Miller, as the 2 Flashes, just was not good, but the rest of the cast did adequate to fine work.
Further Comments... | ||
This is such a tough call. It is bad, but it is so bad it's good in many aspects. Do I recommend it or not? Is it bad or really bad? I am in a quandary with this one.
