Summary of this Book...
I always enjoy Joyce Meyer's teachings and books. She's straightforward and talks from her heart in a no-nonsense style. This book gives you a guide to help you heal emotionally, physically, spiritually, and find restoration for your soul. Joyce shares her own journey of child abuse and neglect, and how her faith in God helped her to finally come to terms with it. It also helped her to quit ruining other relationships because of misplaced blame. The title 'Beauty For Ashes' is based on Isaiah 61:3: To appoint to them who mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, and they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. Joyce acknowledges the pain, setbacks, and anger one will go through on the journey to healing, but she never lets the reader lose hope that it can't be done. She is empathetic, and gives us the tools we need to allow God's help in healing us. Joyce reminds us that God is capable of taking our brokeness and turning it into something beautiful. We are given scriptures, prayers, and real steps to take when we are feeling overwhelmed by fear, shame or the weight of the past. (Rather from childhood or adulthood). It helps that she has been through her own hell, because it makes her more relatable. If you feel your pain is still stagnant and so deep that you will never heal, this book will give you hope. With God, healing is possible.
