Summary of this Book...
Neil Gorsuch, Supreme Court Justice, takes a look at the toll of too much law in our human lives. Just how much regulation is needed for us to live as a society? He uses everyday case studies such as John and Sally Yates, hair threaders, and look in our past regarding sterilization as examples.
This type of Book is good for...
critical thinking. Is there too much law in our lives? In the case of a hair threader, far too much. The book makes the reader think about the foundations of our nation and how we interpret them today.
I especially liked...
Reading the examples and seeing how their every day lives were effected by law. I learned a lot of about regulatory and administrative law and how it "applies" constitutional law.
I didn't like...
The outcome of the examples. While most of them won their day in court at the Supreme Court, most of the people wasted 10-15 years of their lives fighting the lawfare used against them.
This Book made me feel...
more knowledgable about regulatory and administrative law and how it can be a hurdle in our lives. It made me aware of the fact I have to research issues in order to be factual.
The author of this Book...
is Neil Gorsuch. He is a sitting justice on the Supreme Court.
I recommend this Book because...
You will learn a lot and you will be challenged to think about how law applies in your life.
Further Comments...
This is a very insightful book that will challenge your knowledge and beliefs. You will learn a lot, but not in a dry way. You'll find yourself rooting for all the people in the case studies. This book is an easier to read book than you think. It's not dry or dull.
