Beatrice Holland is a buttoned-up accountant. She's supposed to be on an island off the coast of Washington with her husband, a golf holiday. Instead, she's there alone because she just found out her husband has been having an affair with her best friend.

As if that wasn't enough, she's been warned by a psychic that she will experience seven miracles and then she will die.

On the island, she meets her long lost twin-sister and the mother she never knew she had.

And then things get weird.

It's a good story about witches, betrayals, miracles and the true power of love. If you like any of that, you'll enjoy this book.

There is an unfolding of Beatrice's very soul within the story. She learns so much about herself along the way.

This isn't really a "didn't like" but I felt there was maybe too much packed in to this. A lot happens in a very short period of time which is fine, but I think I would have enjoyed some more character development.

Learn the back stories of the other characters. This could be expanded into several novels.

That above all, we want the power of hope to triumph in our lives. Some of us will die trying. Some of us will never know. But we all want it.

Does a good job drawing her characters so we get the gist of them within a short time. She lets us know what's important, and why.

It's a fun read. Chick-lite, a little bit. But interesting enough to hold your interest.

Central to the story is a grimoire, a book of spells. That's why I chose it for the June theme.
