Sammie Lucas' life is a mess. She's scared of her son and her relationship with her wife is falling apart.

Sammie goes to therapy. Samson goes to therapy. Nothing helps.

The spiral downward is relentless.

No idea. I'm sure some will like it, but I found it confusing and boring. To boot, none of the characters are likeable.

The author gives us free rein to rampage Sammie's mind, but people, Sammie's mind is a dark, dark place. She goes from bad decision to bad decision without ever questioning why.

Books that just meander to a messy finish are, in my opinion, pointless.

There is no resolution here.

Question why I finished it.

That's a little harsh. I finished it because I thought something was going to happen. Nothing happened.

From all accounts, this author's debut novel, "Mostly Dead Things" was really good. After reading this novel though, I'm not going to chance it.

I won't stop you from reading it. This is all just my opinion.
