Shared this in "Weird Wednesday" on the Newsfeed, so I figured I'd share it here as well. Wink The prompt was ... leave a comment about the weirdest experience you've had in the past 4 weeks ...

I puked in the Louvre.

My husband and I were visiting France, and were in the Louvre with his elementary school best friend, who owns an art school and teaches/does tours in the Louvre. I started feeling unwell . . . hot flash? Sat for a few minutes and moved on. The hot flash came back a few minutes after we entered Napoleon III's apartments. Tim turned us around and we went back out the way we came. Just about 15 feet outside of the apartments there was a chair, so I sat down. Uggggh I started to feel like I was going to be sick. Aaaaand I was. They called the Paris EMS service. If you're into male eye candy, Paris is the place to get sick, I'm telling you! Every single one of them was model-worthy. I got sick a 2nd time, and they decided to take me to the Emergency Room. I was loaded into a wheelchair, and wheeled through the Louvre. One of the EMTs decided to take me down an escalator. Backwards. OHHHH yikes! I learned after the fact from my husband, who was behind us and watching, that the 2nd EMT had given a panicky look and shake of his head to the one who was taking me down the escalator. Not SOP, I guess. Wink

So there's me in an ambulance, riding through Paris. Bee Doo Bee Doo Bee Doo . . . hunky Parisian EMT standing and holding on to the metal bars, watching over me. We're driving over the Pont Neuf. Oh look . . . there goes Notre Dame! Definitely got an insiders look at Paris that day! *Rolling*

I was fine, released from the emergency room after about an hour, without fluids or anything. Got 2 finger pricks and an ECG (not sure why that was a priority, but okay). We decided I must have had food poisoning. By the following day I was a little shaky but absolutely fine.

Sitting in our hotel room later that evening, laughing over the whole situation, I looked at my husband and said (in a slight French accent) "this is what I think of your museum! BLEAAAAH!" (complete with fake vomiting gesture)

We did get to return to the Louvre the day before leaving France. I am happy to report that it was a completely vomitless day.

Here we are at at tearoom inside the Louvre building (hubby & I at the front), after our vomitless day (Tim was very worried about feeding me, after our previous experience, but I was fine *Laugh*).

Louvre was stuffy when I visited in December last year so I understand why you vomited. I felt like I'm about to die when folks pushed me away to take a selfie with Mona Lisa. I'll never get that *Facepalm*. It was crazy and some rooms have that ancient smell of furniture and, like, moisture or something. 9 million something visitors per day also add to this. I loved it though. Tour guy told us it takes around 100 days of your life to squeeze in each piece of art if you single out 30 seconds for each painting and sculpture and if you are there every day, all day. Paris is my favorite city I've visited so far. I think that every person on the planet needs to visit Paris at least once in their life. It's indescribable charming.

The saddest part was . . . we were actually there on the best day possible. It was the day of the first French election, and there were hardly any crowds! Tim had managed to get us tickets to the Vermeer exhibit, which we obviously missed. I don't think I got sick because of where we were . . . I do honestly think it was food poisoning.

It was huge - what was fantastic was that, because they knew the museum SO well, we were able to get to many of the highlights that I had wanted to see on the day we returned. "Okay, so if we go up this corridor we can swing around and make our way back to the . . ." It was fantastic to see it through their eyes, as well. Tim is INCREDIBLY knowledgeable, and totally blew my 25 year old art history degree out of the water. Wink

Paris was magnificent! Absolutely breathtaking. I would love to return and spend far more time wandering the city, exploring the Louvre, visiting the rest of the country. But Greece is my passion . . . my favorite place in the world. *Heart* *Countrygr*
