I puked in the Louvre.
My husband and I were visiting France, and were in the Louvre with his elementary school best friend, who owns an art school and teaches/does tours in the Louvre. I started feeling unwell . . . hot flash? Sat for a few minutes and moved on. The hot flash came back a few minutes after we entered Napoleon III's apartments. Tim turned us around and we went back out the way we came. Just about 15 feet outside of the apartments there was a chair, so I sat down. Uggggh I started to feel like I was going to be sick. Aaaaand I was. They called the Paris EMS service. If you're into male eye candy, Paris is the place to get sick, I'm telling you! Every single one of them was model-worthy. I got sick a 2nd time, and they decided to take me to the Emergency Room. I was loaded into a wheelchair, and wheeled through the Louvre. One of the EMTs decided to take me down an escalator. Backwards. OHHHH yikes! I learned after the fact from my husband, who was behind us and watching, that the 2nd EMT had given a panicky look and shake of his head to the one who was taking me down the escalator. Not SOP, I guess. Wink
So there's me in an ambulance, riding through Paris. Bee Doo Bee Doo Bee Doo . . . hunky Parisian EMT standing and holding on to the metal bars, watching over me. We're driving over the Pont Neuf. Oh look . . . there goes Notre Dame! Definitely got an insiders look at Paris that day!
I was fine, released from the emergency room after about an hour, without fluids or anything. Got 2 finger pricks and an ECG (not sure why that was a priority, but okay). We decided I must have had food poisoning. By the following day I was a little shaky but absolutely fine.
Sitting in our hotel room later that evening, laughing over the whole situation, I looked at my husband and said (in a slight French accent) "this is what I think of your museum! BLEAAAAH!" (complete with fake vomiting gesture)
We did get to return to the Louvre the day before leaving France. I am happy to report that it was a completely vomitless day.
Here we are at at tearoom inside the Louvre building (hubby & I at the front), after our vomitless day (Tim was very worried about feeding me, after our previous experience, but I was fine ).
