We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life.
There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .
― Charles Spurgeon

Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.
― C. H. Spurgeon

Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.
― Charles Haddon Spurgeon

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.
― Charles Spurgeon

A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.
― Charles Spurgeon

Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.
― Charles Spurgeon

When your will is God's will, you will have your will.
― Charles Spurgeon
(Philippians 2:13, KJV)

These little white lights above my space,
where art is made and moments rest
bring brightness, warmth to ev'ry place
that helps me feel restored and blest.

Sometimes time will softly pass
without a stitch or something made.
Meditation's large crevasse
sits in peace with naught displayed.

Mem'ries of these white lights brought
make an old man young, again.
Christmas past when I was taught,
"Light's restored when saved from sin."
(Ephesian 2:8-10, KJV)

Nightly in the darkened sky
these little white lights hang up in space.
Plaintiff moans or faintest cry,
"Save my soul for The Savior's Place."

When the Truth is no more heard,
when the Lord in silence hides
the little white Lights of the lasting Word
shine upon our blackness, Pride.

The little white light across the waves
grows quite large as near we sail.
Shoals avoid we as He saves
to snatch us from great lasting Fail.

Restoring hearts by Light and Truth
new giftings come amid this rest.
The little white lights do spark our youth
reminding us in Him we're blest.

Thunder claps its sploshy rain.
Watercolors on the pane,
sleepy moments mind can gain
hour's peaceful rest.

Loud, the Noisy harms the dog.
Space beneath me, she can clog.
Blesses much the household frog.
Ears, it true can test.

Humid is its aftermath
Wear your boots to find the path.
Joyful moments 'fore the bath
when we puddle jump.

After Math my science learned.
Humor words are lately turned,
though that living I've not earned.
Puns are in a slump.

Rumbling drums of cloudy Night
tempt the heart to feel the fright
Waiting hours, sun is bright,
then the day is clear.

Slinks away the monstrous sound
as a peace so new abounds.
Thirsty yards, relieved the ground,
passive moments here.

Hoping,
coping,
Someone will come.
Stable
cable
guiding the sum.

Knowing,
growing,
Jesus is wise.
Never
sever
in Him, we'll rise.

Briefly,
chiefly,
Time is His tool.
Better
Letter
showing His Rule.

Power
bower
live evermore.
Praying,
saying,
"Enter The Door."

The days of life upon this globe
are filled with things to do.
The Lasting Day will have a robe,
agreeing with The True.
(John 14:6,KJV)

The days of life see a growing child,
a youth and adult blest.
The Lasting Day will see a smile
beyond each earthly test.

The days of life are classes same
to train us while we're here.
The Lasting Day in Praise or flame
by Christ or in our fear.

The days of life know wondrous friends,
and sadly some are not.
The Lasting Day will hearts full mend,
though some will be forgot.

The days of life are days of grace.
Salvation here receive.
The Lasting Day cannot replace
what's bought by those deceived.

The days of life are but a wisp
of vapors from our lungs.
The Lasting Day in Moment crisp
we'll enter, songs be sung.

The days of life, The Lasting's Womb,
we gestate, and we grow.
The Lasting Day, beyond the Tomb,
"I'll know as I am known."
(I Corinthians 13:12, KJV)

Lavender with fragrant blooms
fills the countryside.
Fields of purple, outdoor rooms
place to live, abide.

This purple robe doth clothe the ground.
Its royalty now reigns.
A kingdom in its peace abounds
as sleep starts filling veins.

The ones, who take care of this land
reside in mansioned home.
With sprigs of lavender in hand,
they need no more to roam.

I'm waiting for the Lord to come.
Whatever will we do?
We'll praise His Name, the Wondrous Sum,
and never we'll be through.

The Lord will come so very soon
to take His Bride away.
We're ever blest in lasting boon.
We live Th'eternal Day.

Each day we pass on earthly sod
is one day closer Home
to live with Lordly, Saving God,
Who rules upon His Throne.

"O, make my life a faithful one,
and help me serve You true,
that when my days are fully done
I'll have crowns to give to you.
"

The Blessed Lord is never late,
and early He is not.
The HIStory of ev'ry date
is right upon its spot.

The Sovereign Lord can ne'er be moved
to do as Man demands.
His Way is honored, tried, and proved,
fulfilling all His Plans.

So, wait I daily occupied
in tasks to serve Him here.
When life is new and free from pride
in peace we'll know no fear.

Day
at end,
light doth blend
into the night
darkened rest can now tend
to bodies that bear working's bite
these hours at peace can put each body right.
The greens and browns fade into silhouette display.
We love the day but try with all our might
the darkness fills these hours so tight.
The little lights now rend
the hold of fright.
Heart will mend
by Friend.
Stay.

A word is such a wondrous thing to write.
A word with friends may bring to life a book.
A recipe's a tasty, wordy bite.
A word can make the reader stop to look.

A word may sing with chorused words in rhyme.
These words may spin and dance in rhythm rare.
This poetry can lift to lands sublime
to minister their words to those in care.

A word can step on notes to make a song.
Abundant words cantatas they may form.
Apologizing words may right a wrong,
and words so soft can still a heartfelt storm.

A word with friends must bow the knee to One.
The Word is God, Eternal Only Son.

The expectations for our lives
are not always quite spoken clear.
We're 'sposed to live and love, and thrive
without a hint of lingering fear.

But what of fear, that's caused at times
by expectations oft implied.
Some date of choice may come betimes
before the needed thought's applied.

When selfless giving burdens the heart
beyond the resources we can give,
the expectations are a part
of the challenges in which we live.

Life's expectations we must pause
when time is needed just to breathe.
We'll give, again, and bear the cause.
The rested mind wears wisdom's wreath.
