What's going on in my world you ask? Well Monkey, my cat, is nearly a year and just started her first heat cycle....yay. Looks like now I gotta stop putting off that vet visit *le sigh* Just hope it isn't too costly or difficult to get a resonable price.

2nd, I finished reading Diana Rowlands Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues
Long review short, I liked it! And started the 3rd book White Trash Zombie Apocalypse  .

How do you predict people of the future will remember the reputation of the generation of teens living today? Pay attention to pop culture like music, movies, TV shows, and literature

Good question....I'm not sure, because to my knowledge the only generation that gets remembered often seems to be the 50s teens. Sure we joke about the 70s till now but it's more about the time and cultures in general, not the teens. Even 50s teens are only a small/tiny part of the topic.

So frankly I don't foresee the teens of today being remembered too vividly UNLESS this current influx of helicopter parents/wussification/politically correct/'everyone's a winner' crap storm of a mess young kids are into today drastically effects our economy in say 20/30 years. They'll be talked about just as much as my 90s generation is/was.

Update: This little boy   has the right idea. Give us about 50,000 more of him and Gen. X just might make it after all. *Pthb*

It's time for a little creative writing! In honor of such a great NFC Championship game between the Seahawks and 49ers earlier, write a poem or a flash fiction story (500 words max) about football... or another sport of your choosing.

Blog. Tell us about your week. Include your favorite blog entry from your fellow challengers from the preceding week and, most importantly, why.

Boring week, crazy weekend. Went out with a friend a couple times, that was fun. Then came Prodigy Strongman, two days of intense competition. Gearing up for a busy week, Grief prep meeting tomorrow, office work Tuesday, then picking up friend from hospital on Wednesday. Probably a good thing I slept all day today.....

Fav entry goes to: Fivesixer "This one's about opinions and the Day Of Grievances., not just for interesting responses to the prompts but for an intense personal story involving authority figures and misplaced egos. Honest reality is always refreshing.

What is your favorite holiday and why? What is your least favorite holiday and why?

Hate to say the obvious Christmas is my fav, but anything else would be contrived. Sure it's a fav due to religious reasons, but also because it's a great time for everyone to get together and celebrate in a myriad of different ways.

Least fav? Valentines without a valentine, or Halloween without a good costume or party to go to (or desire to go to). Depends on the situation and yearly mood.

Our brains are master creators when we sleep, creating worlds of dreams for us to explore every night. Write about the last vivid or lucid dream you remember and what you believe its significance was.

Dear Lord I had these all the time as a kid. Haven't had any lately though so I'll talk about one of the most vivid and recurring nightmares I ever had (shame those are easier to remember than dreams). I have a TON of de-ja-vu that I think are dreams/visions but they don't do me no good b/c I forget they're gonna happen till they do, not like anyone get's hurt, it's just usually boring traffic/everyday scenarios.

So the nightmare. Basically me and a ton of kids are running in the dark, I mean pitch, surrounded by black, as in there are no streets/grass nothing, just blackness. And go figure we're being chased by Freddie Kruger, and some other madman, maybe Jason?

Here's the thing, I HATE scary movies, always have. I don't ever remember even seeing a Kruger flick, sure I knew who he was around 12 yrs old but can't recollect a single time I've watched it.

----------------------
What personal quality (e.g. honesty, kindness, faith, loyalty, etc.) do you value more than anything else? If you could guarantee a significant other be completely unfailing in this area, would you put up with serious flaws in other areas (e.g. always kind but lies to spare your feelings, always honest but to the point of unknowingly being hurtful, etc.) to achieve the perfect partner in the area you value most?

Honesty. Hands down, no exceptions. Now if they were always honest but to the point of KNOWINGLY being hurtful, that's a different thing altogether.

-----------------------

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired!
Prodigy Strongman was AHMAZING!   BUT DAgum it was long.....got there at 8am and didn't get home till 7pm.
Soaked in an Epsom Salt bath for near 90 minutes and am about to hit the hay.
Not bad for a free days workout.....

Busy weekend, volunteering at my gyms Stong(wo)man competition. Went in tonight for info session and help set up. Dog tired and still need to try to do my hair before being there at 7:45 am. Whoot!

If someone wanted to really push your buttons, what would they do to provoke you?

It's pretty hard to really get me mad, especially if that's your intent. But thanks to childhood I do have a couple hot buttons and they revolve around being told I 'act white', mainly because I grew up refusing to speak ebonics and I don't limit my entertainment to one specific genre. Stupid. Color is an adjective, not a verb. People....

Write about a silly impulse buy that you only regretted after bringing it home. What made you think it was a good idea?

Hmmm, I honestly can't think of one off top of my head, I'm even looking around, O! It was probably either a book or dvd of some kind. Most likely a $1/$3 book I bought because it was so cheap. I've gotten better lately but once I get a house with more space...it's on.

Do you believe we should tolerate everyone's opinions no matter how misstated or misinformed they may be? How delicate are you when discussing your opinions with others? Make your case as logically as possible without emotion influencing you.

Holy $h*t, I don't believe in coincidences, some of these prompts are hitting a lil too close to home too often.

Take a trip down memory lane (of your web history). What was the last thing you looked up online and why were you looking it up?

Earlier this morning I Searched for Dian Fossey, today's Google Doodlette; I love reading the history behind most of the Goodles, especially the women and minorities.

ION: I'm currently reorganizing my Port! Actually pretty excited. Mainly about the new folder "WIPs (Works In Progress)
Basically, if it doesn't have a picture, it's probably not finished. Goal is to have all my finished works/compilations sporting nifty pics. Also, organizing my WIPs will make it easier for me to finish/delete/consolidate things.

I hope to make a nice TOC but that's gonna take some work. Some time in the distant future I may even post a YouTube vid and post it as an Intro/Welcome to my Port, fun times.

Also, "Invalid Item comes to a close tomorrow. Really glad I spruced my port up a bit in time for voting. Still thrilled I was nominated for Best Portfolio. I won't win because I lack the necessary item nominations, but it's still a kewl feeling to even be on that list.

I do know there are a lot of people who seem to be in my corner, and that's, of course, wonderful. I'm really more interested in the nomination than in the award, because I think the nomination just puts you within a group of outstanding actors.

So I'd like to try my hand at another contest. This one for the month of February, you guessed it, a Black History month competition. I've mentioned it before and got a couple 'Yay's but the absolute failure of "AFaith's Unofficial Account BDay Event has made me gun shy. *sigh*

I think it's unrelated but perhaps subconsciously considering this decision may have led to "Note: Happy Hat Day! [Link: 'http://www.writin...".
Mainly I was wondering how many people assumed I was related to, or otherwise personally knew, the person pictured. I'm sure no one most people didn't make that mistake when I had the Mandela pic up, but I digress.

To be fair I had only seen the picture once before, twice in all, that I can remember; but then I'm young and inexperienced with the world. *Pthb* That being said I wonder how recognizable it is to people over 40.

----------------
Write about a childhood experience that you remember vividly. Include as much sensory detail as possible.

Sadly it seems easier to remember scarring events than fun ones, so I made an extra effort to remember a 'scarring at the time but in retrospect it was very fun' memory.

My Dad was big into getting us kids into nature. We would take long hikes in some of the most gorgeous Georgia parks and we spent some time in the mountains every year. I want to say Ellijay? Don't remember the name but there was one cabin community we frequented and I remember learning to ride a horse there and completing a scavenger hunt that my Dad put together all on his own. Super awesome (except for the time I was chased by wasps and literally ran out of my shoes, I was so terrified, because I'd never been stung and didn't know if I was allergic or not) and creative.

This particular memory took place on one of our short jaunts through a local trail.

It was one of my favorites. We had walked all the way to the waterfall and back, but that wasn't enough for my adventurous father. It was me, my older and younger brothers and my younger sister; think my older adopted sis missed out on this one. Once we got back from the trail Dad decided we should try traversing this huge bridge; not like humans though and go over it, but like some sort of troll/parkour hybrids and go under it.

There was this massive rock wall/dam under the intended and safe wooden bridge. We made it across the rock wall ok but there was one tiny detail Daddy Dearest neglected to consider before we traversed into unknown waters (pun intended). How to get to the other side? Hydrated fowl jokes not withstanding - The bank wasn't as shallow and accommodating on the far side. We would have to do some fancy rock jumping to make it safely across.

It may have just been the terror of the moment, but I swear the strength and speed of the flowing water picked up and continuously gained momentum right around the time I found out I'd have to jump across a 4 or 5 foot expanse. Come to think of it, I may be somewhat of a natural athlete but I definitely strengthened and honed some skills in childhood due to stunts like this.

All of us took our Leaps of Faith and made it safely to the other side except my younger sister. She was about.....6 maybe 7 at the time? She was the princess of the bunch and the whole day had just been pure torture for her from the get go. Imagine her elation when Dad announced he was going to throw her from their perch on this huge wet boulder, into the arms of my older brother David who was safe on the rivers edge. I'll never forget the determination on that little girls face as she was catapulted into the air. Her arms and legs went into strategic 'grappling hook' fashion for maximum attachment. True to big-brother/caretaker fashion, David caught her effortlessly and we all survived to hike another day.

--------------
Your best friend with the time machine decides to give you another opportunity to try out his invention, and offers you the chance to go back in time and change one single moment/decision in your own life. What moment would you choose, why did you choose it, and what would you do differently?

For a sec I thought I was experiencing de-ja-whodo and Jeff had re-posted the same prompt. It's amazing what we can trick our brains into believing when a bit of ego's involved.

Great prompt; easy answer. I'm proud (in a healthy way) to say that right now in my life I have no regrets. Made mistakes sure, but none have been so horrible that I honestly wish I could do them over. However, I'm a thinker and in so doing have forced myself over the years to think of at least one or two things that I wouldn't mind were changed and one thing rings out as Numero Uno.

It was a simple day and the remark was innocent enough but the impact was major. I was only 11/12 years old, we had just left the house, I think Mom was taking me to middle school in the morning because we were about 5 miles down the road, the BP was on the corner to our right and we were waiting to turn left. My little brother angelically asked our Mom why she wore so much make-up and without a consideration in my brain I blurted out "Because she likes to look like a clown".

Now, to this day I'm not a huge fan of make-up. Just this past year was the first time I actively purchased foundation and the works. Nothing against people who wear it but I have a hard time reconciling the fact that I "NEED" to wear it. All that says to me is 'my natural face isn't good enough' IOW: You're ugly with out manufacturing. I have a long drawn out list of reasons why I think this way but I don't feel like getting into it. See "BNMW Day

Anywho, my Mom sold Mary Kay for a number of years and she and her sisters are huge makeup fans. That aside, my comment hurt her feelings. I mean really hurt her. I saw it in her face and heard it in her voice. I was crushed right along with her. I think I thought she wouldn't mind the remark because she loves makeup so much, so what would she care what I thought? The moment passed and it was never spoken of again but I'll never forget the first time I hurt someone's feelings without meaning to. I would like to change that in my time machine trip.

Instead I would ask my Mom if she would still love me if I never wore makeup. At that tender age maybe she would soften her heart a bit and not be so on me to wear it now as an adult. I'm sure her answer then would have been the same as it is now: "Not only does it make you look good but foundation protects your face from the elements...etc.etc." But at least that situation could have been a bit of a bonding moment instead of the emotional train-wreck that it was.

You have 30 seconds to give a speech to the entire world population and after you finish, you will die. What would you say?

1 Fellow humans I beg you hear me. I know the following will sound like folly, I know people die everyday and don't make a difference; PLEASE don't be one of those people! Do more than I did, make a change. If we all try one day there will be such a thing as world peace. 15
Learn to think for yourself, not just to be an individual but to be more than a sheep. To be greater than the 1%. Open your eyes and really look at your neighbor, really stop and think, what is the true difference? Look up, who's above you stepping on your neck? There is the actual difference. There is what and who you should really be fighting against. 30

Your best friend is a brilliant scientist who just invented a time machine. He's given you the opportunity to go back in time and witness (but not interact with) any significant moment/event in history. Which moment/event would you choose to see first-hand and why?

Oye, this has been asked a million times but don't think I've ever answered....least not since been out of grade school.

Ummm,.....so many choices.....O o! I want to see the first decade after Christopher Columbus found this country. Mainly because I just saw a text pic w/ the following:

Person 1: I'm watching a movie about America's first serial killer.
Person 2: Christopher Columbus?

I got a chuckle. People pointed out he was more of a serial mass murderer.

I know we've got text books and all that but nothing's as accurate as the real thing. I wanna know what really happened...and just how brutal it all was.....or wasn't.......

What song do you absolutely hate, and why do you hate it so much?

Another good question, because there are very few tunes that make me change the channel quickly or pull my hair in frustration if I'm forced to listen to it. Truthfully, anything that plays on the radio more than 4/5 times a hour ends up being loathed at some point in time; but that ebbs, so long as I stop listening to the radio for a while :-/

Hmmmm, first song to come to mind is probably Katy Perry's - California Girls .

I love Katy Perry and the song isn't completely awful.....I think I just got burnt out on it. Doesn't help my sister and her daughter love it and made me listen to it a couple times in a row once. *ugh* Actually they were in my car so I think I only suffered through it once then refused to replay it when my niece asked. I felt bad and consequently I blame Perry for making me feel like a bad aunt ;-P

Ha, the verses are fine but I couldn't even listen to the entire chorus just now when I searched for a video to link to. Yea, too soon.

------
What do you do when there is nothing to do?

LOL how appropriate, Emily you slay me. *Bigsmile* *Pthb*

Truth is, there's no such thing as nothing to do. Least not in my world.

O there are plenty of things I don't want to do; even things I don't feel like doing. But there is ALWAYS something to do and/or that needs to be done.

So, what do I do when I don't feel like cleaning my apartment, cleaning out the kitty litter, furthering my career, enhancing my resume/portfolio, calling/spending time with my family, or any of the other infinite self-improvement techniques I should be taking part in? Nothing.

Simply and blissfully, nothing. I've got procrastination down to an art form. I'm not bragging, just speaking the truth. While I work on my self-discipline everyday I like the idea of having a 'better half' to encourage me not to put things off. You see, I'm a people pleaser; and it's more important to me to get things done when someone else is counting on me to spend time/do things with them later on.

What is your learning style? Do you learn new and process things best by listening (auditory), watching (visual), or doing (kinesthetic)? Are you strongly one way or a mix of two or even all three? If you are weak at a particular type, how does that affect your everyday life?

I learn best by watching and hearing how the work is to be done, then doing. If I'm remembering back to grade school correctly, the thing they missed the most of was doing. We would sit and listen for an hour then be sent to 'do' mostly on our own. There should be more action-heavy learning procedures I think. Shorten up the verbal/visual aids at the beginning and intersperse more direction throughout kinesthetic programs.
