Meditations of a christizen (christian-citizen)upon today's topics.

I, Brother James, cultivated through my imagination and birthed via writing instruments (pen, laptop, etc) 'The Word Courier's Journal'. It is one of several literary efforts so conceived to include the "word", the mind altering, eye opening, life saving gospel of Jesus Christ into the every day conversation on those things deemed relevant to those readers who stumble upon my column. I and all other followers of the Lord are called to witness this message across the globe or at the very least to those around us. Jesus did say "Go therefore and teach all nations..." (see Matthew 28:19 KJV Holy Bible) Here lies my modest attempt to introduce the unknowing people to the Lord and immerse they who know Him in discussion with respect to His outlook on all that matters.

Yes, it's is a good start that some GOP members didn't succumb to their colleagues' pressure to worship "a single dude"- the cult leader DJT. The road becomes harder and harder when more conspiracies, more Proud Boys, and other groups join the anti-government movement. As the rising star of the Trumplican cult mentioned yesterday, the GOP is "his", "not belongs to anybody else", maybe is about time to change the name to QTP (QTrumplican Party). What do you think?

Hello Brother James,

I was gratified to read your blog post. I am a believer, have been for over 30 years and I have been totally confounded by the stance that so many of my brothers and sisters in Christ who I love dearly can support Donald Trump. It is so obvious to me that his behavior is the antithesis of Christ-like. It has stretched my ability to love as Jesus does. I believe that their attitude and support of Trump is due to fear. They are afraid of what may happen if a liberal is elected. They really believe that our 'Christian' way of life will be prohibited, stolen, made criminal if those horrible liberals gain any power over the country. As we know, God tells us that 'perfect love casts out fear'. We should not be afraid but, rather, judge/view our leaders by their 'fruit'. From what I have seen, there is very little good fruit to be seen in our current president.

I could go on with my thoughts about this but I won't. In my walk, I am constantly asking 'WWJD'? I know that has become a kind of ridiculous catchphrase for some but I believe it is the question we should always ask regarding our own behavior and that of others as well. I can't imagine the Jesus I know doing or saying most of what comes out of the mouth of our current president and I wonder how any Christian cannot see that.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Civil rights (what is right) issue is a humanity issue (knowing how to be humane and respectful. If we can not begin there, we are lost.

I fully agree that "Everyone does not need to know everything."

And that is exactly what NSA was NOT doing. It was not telling anyone anything about anybody. That is in contrast to the media who are constantly telling everything about everybody.

The only thing the NSA does is PRESERVE phone conversations, not LISTEN to them.

I know there will be cyncics who think the system can be abused and some low level operator will listen to some phone conversations. But so what? You run the same risk walking along talking into your cell while everyone around you is listening to you.

I will tell you what's naive. The ideal that the only people who want privacy are those who are up to no good. The fact is the only ears that should be involved in many conversations are the ones attached to the same heads as the mouths that are speaking. One must not be involved in terrorism, plotting a crime, cheating on a spouse or other nefarious activity to engage in such a conversation. Everyone doesn't need to know everything.

In fact, that's the problem with today and the internet. A lot of information is out there as is a lot of misinformation. We still need critical thinking abilities to go along with all the "facts" we supposedly have at our disposal. Also, esteemed U.S. Supreme Court Justices and legal luminaries William O. Douglas and Louise Brandeis voiced sentiments that the right to be left alone is pivotal to the functioning of a democracy.

Only criminals and cheaters worry about "privacy".

Why would anyone care if someone overheard their phone conversation? Here are some reasons...
1. They are plotting a crime.
2. They are cheating on their spouse.
3. They are engaged in dishonest business practices.
4. They are a terrorist
5. etc
6. etc

It's also pretty naïve to think that the NSA could possibly listen to all the millions of conversations that take place everyday. All they do is store them for future reference in a terrorist hunt.

As to the facts, these are clear:
Zimmerman while speaking to the 911 dispatch acknowledged the fact that he was following Trayvon Martin on foot. The records of this communication are replayed in print and audio throughout the media. Also, the cell communication between Tryavon and his friend indicates that the youth feared for his safety. But, of course the local police wanted nothing to do with even acknowledging his phone and its records.

The Heart Monitor:

Oh goody, Zimmerman was nice to some black youth. Well guess what? Shamed and exposed child molester Jerry Sandusky also displayed outward displays of charity towards youth. As a Christian, you might appreciate the Lord's perspective. Jesus said (and I paraphrase) the tree is known by iits fruit. (see Matthew 7:16 &20) Sure, he was specifically speaking of how to discern Godly prophets from false prophets, however, his statement refects a true test across the board with regard to another's intent, state of mind and yes his/her heart. So was he racist? I never accused him of being racist which brings us to my next ppoint.

To be racist or not to be racist, that is not the question-

The point of "The Color of Evil" was the race factor was only part of thedebate. I quote the following line that I wrote, "Regardless of George Zimmerman's inherent racial bias or lack thereof, the situation did not have to result in the end of an innocen child's life." That is my point, racist or not his behavior was wrong.

Summary:

I and many others can't get past the fact that a grown man picked a fight with a youth and fatally shot him when the fight didn't go his way. In my day, we called men who bullied kids, punks. And, thats what he is and murder is what he did. If the jury got it straight they would have sent that punk to jail for murder.

Secret Sadness

I get the feeling that comedians are secretly saddened by Donald Trump's election loss. Trump's tweets have provided tons of ready made joke material. I guess joke writers are the big losers here. No need for them.

Comedy has lost a valuable resource with Donald Trump's eventual exit from the public political sphere. The lame duck president will soon become a lame dud loser now unable to rant on Twitter and Facebook. Now what is Stephen Colbert going to talk about?
