Hello 30-day bloggers. I hope you don't mind if I barge in and drop a blog on you. "drop a blog" I actually said that! I should just show myself out before things get too ridiculous. Oh but, no! I feel like writing and I have no place else to go. Nice juicy blog prompt there too, a blog entry idea immediately came to mind.

PROMPT March 12th
Imagine you had to create an art piece for a gallery or museum. What would you create?

I imagine a silhouette of a man standing just to the right of a large painting hanging in an enormous gallery. the painting is fifteen feet tall by ten feet wide. The frame is made of ornately carved cherry wood, but not natural cherry wood, that would be way too expensive. The painting is of a silhouette of a man standing just to the right of a large painting hanging in an enormous gallery. the painting is fourteen and a half feet tall by nine and a half feet wide. Its frame is made of ornately carved cherry wood. The silhouette of the man in the painting is looking at a large painting hanging in an enormous gallery. The painting he's looking at is a silhouette of a man standing just to the right of a large painting hanging in an enormous gallery. the painting is thirteen feet tall by eight feet wide, and the painting frame appears to be made of ornately carved cherry wood. It looks like natural cherry wood in the painting, but you never can tell. The silhouette of the man in the painting looking at the silhouette of the man in the painting is also looking at a painting. The painting he is looking at is of a silhouette of a man standing just to the right of a large painting hanging in an enormous gallery. the painting is eleven feet tall by seven feet wide. The frame is made of ornately carved, what appears to be natural cherry wood. So if you look closely at the actual painting in which the silhouetted man is standing just to the right of, in the enormous gallery you'll see that the silhouetted man looking at the painting of the silhouetted man who's also looking at a painting of a silhouetted man standing just to the right of a large painting hanging in an enormous gallery with the ornately carved frame yada yada yada is looking at a painting of a man sitting in a chair watching TV. Now, The man in the painting sitting in the chair watching TV is watching a program, and pictured on the TV screen in the painting is a man sitting in a chair watching TV. The television set the man is watching from his chair appears dead-center in the huge ornately carved cherry wood frame. The television set is three feet tall by four feet across, it's a floor model set, which was popular in the 1970s and its cabinet was made of ornately carved cherry wood. On the TV set is pictured a man sitting in a chair watching TV. On that TV, the smallest one is a test pattern. Does anybody remember test patterns? Hello. Hello... alright nobodies reading. Can't say as I blame you. I would have bailed on the third man. Good luck with your blog challenge. Thank you for your indulgence. Writing this has helped me get the blog out.

30 Day Blogging Challenge PROMPT for April 8, 2020

How would eight year old you have reacted to being quarantined and kept out of school and society for so long?

Eight year old me at any time through earth's history would welcome the time kept out of school, now or in 1969, when I was eight years old.

I think I was kept out of society as an eight-year-old anyhow. You can't do this until you're older, you can't do that until you're taller, you can't see this, that's not a toy, these are for adults, the list was endless.

So eight year old me would love this. I'd be scared AF, but I was anyway.
In 1969 you had to worry about world war three breaking out and all-out nuclear holocaust. You knew there would be a world war three, otherwise... why would they have numbered the first two?

Get this... Not only did I live in fear of being nuked, struck by an asteroid, and being child-napped, my friend once told me, as I was about to start my 1/4 mile walk home, "Look out for snipers"

Snipers? What's a sniper?

A sniper hides on roof-tops and shoots people below.

Up until that moment, I had no idea. WTF! Now snipers! I think I almost started to cry a little bit. I ran all the way home.
I ran everywhere I went for the next two or three days.
I didn't see any snipers, and thankfully I wasn't shot.
Exhausted from running, I asked my mom if there was really such a thing as snipers.
Expecting her to ease my fears and dismiss their existence she says, "yeah there are snipers."

Well, I'm not going outside anymore then.

I feel a bit like an eight-year-old right now.

30 Day Blogging Challenge PROMPT for April 8, 2020

What is the most ridiculous thing about what's happening this month?

Its all about ridiculous things now my friends. Day 15,16 Social distancing/self-isolating. Me, Leslie and my 65-year-old brother, Lorne.
My brother lived in a high-rise condo development in Toronto his entire adult life, up until 2 years ago. Now he's in the middle of nowhere and not quite sure what to do or how to do it. He's never cooked a meal for himself beyond a tin of soup or a frozen entre. The bears are about to come out of hibernation, I can hardly wait for one to walk past the house or into the yard.

I can't pick a ridiculous thing right now, there's just too many, and what seems ridiculous today may seem fairly reasonable tomorrow.

Which brings me to yesterday, which is when I started writing this entry. I didn't even start writing an entry on other days, a couple of pretty juicy prompts went by that I'd like to have back.

Play a Monopoly game with anyone I can imagine as game opponents. I was all over that, but never had the time to write on it. I will go back to that prompt and play catch-up, but I'm not done playing procrastinate yet.

I've never been more busy doing nothing in my life.

All of this has to happen NOW? When we should be watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs... ridiculous!

Stay - Safe

30 Day Blogging Challenge PROMPT for April 1, 2020

As we're staying #SaferAtHome, I hope you're all staying hydrated- whether that be with water or other liquids!
How many cups/glasses/mugs/etc do you have at home? Which is your favorite, and why? Tell us about how you got it.

Over the past 15 - 20 years we seemed to have accumulated 3 or 4 houses full of furniture and housewares and have stuffed it all into one house.

As bad as things get... I am not going to count all the 'cups/glasses/mugs/etc' in the house. (there are also some in the garage and shed)

We have a lot, we have full cupboards, which we never have to open. Oddly enough I do have a favorite coffee mug, and now that I think of it, it's funny that this prompt has come up right now because my friend Tim just broke my favorite coffee mug.

It was a white porcelain mug, slightly larger than most, with a large handle that you can grasp while wearing gloves. Another nice thing about this mug is, it's easy to clean because my hand fits inside it.

So I guess I have to say, I DID have a favorite mug. Tim was working on his snowmobile in the garage, while I sipped coffee and watched. Can you hold this for me a minute he asked?

I put down my coffee and held the part he wanted me to hold and when he turned to make his repair I heard the sound of my coffee mug hitting the concrete floor and breaking.

I didn't see it, and I didn't want to look, so I asked, even though I already knew the answer, was that my coffee mug that you just knocked to the floor?

Yes, it was.

That was my favorite mug.

Now we're even.

Alright, we're even then. How long back is this going to go?

Remember when you broke my workbench?

That was about 11 years ago.

That's right. Now we're even.

How are you trying to stay socially close to others while #SaferAtHome and physically quarantined?

Life has pretty much changed as we know it around here, and I can't even imagine what things are like in large urban centers.

I don't want to get political about this pandemic, but I have to say how fucking brilliant it was for our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau to have the forethought to legalize and set up a distribution network for cannabis. Not only that... you can have it mailed right to your house.

Times like this I think of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers' quote, "Weed will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no weed."

My sister returned from Mexico 9 days ago. My oldest brother lives with my sister, so when she got home from Mexico she had to self-quarantine for 14 days. For that reason, the eldest brother has come to live with us in the woods.

On iTunes, I bought the entire collection of the TV Batman series, starring Adam West as Batman.

It's just the three of us here. Our friends in the area keep in touch on Facebook, or text messaging.

We have a neighbor as well as a friend who are having difficulties right now, so we're trying to do what we can to help them through this thing.

I don't mean to complain but having my brother here is a bit distracting and by distracting I mean he's driving me fucking nuts, he never stops talking.

But then the mail arrives... ... ... I put on an episode of Batman, and 30 more minutes slip past with nary a care. Not even sure what that means.

This is an excellent opportunity to do some writing. I've been trying to spend some time writing, but then my bro has to tell me about the time Red Johnson and Shorty Gray were having an argument, like yelling in each other's face and so I say to them Hey guys don't argue, why don't you come over to my house for coffee. I have Sanka! Hey, hey. Do you know what you should do? You should write about that. hey, hey?

It's all good though, my brother reminds me of another friend who is a constant distraction by the name of Andre the Blog Monkey.

Sleep time.

30 Day Blogging Challenge PROMPT for April 1, 2020

April 1 is supposed to be April Fool's Day. Since we're all #SaferAtHome, it's a bit harder to prank people. What are some things you can do remotely to somebody for a good laugh?

April Fool's Day has been overshadowed in recent years by regular days where massive government-issued pranks are a regular occurrence.

In my part of the planet, we usually host a devastating flood, or out of control forest fires at this time of year. Having a viral pandemic is a new disaster for most of us.

People like me don't usually do well during these troubled times, "that's not funny" is a comment I hear a lot.

I'd rather die laughing than just die.

I'm going to try and be serious for a minute or two while I write the rest of this entry. If it's pranks you're looking for head over to

Write about good things that can come out of a bad situation. If you have an example from personal experience, please share!

A pretty good example of a bad situation going on right now is the Coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic.

That's not my biggest concern right now, which is almost comforting, but not so much.

Due to the and the current state of emergency in the Province of Manitoba, I am in self/quarantine.

Not much good news to report so far, but there is hope.

In a few minutes, Kinsmen Jackpot Bingo will be streamed live on Youtube, and I have 3 cards to play.

The top prize is $400,000.00. I have to get ready to play. Something good is due, I can feel it.

30 Day Blogging Challenge PROMPT for January 31, 2020

There is no prompt for Day 31, but that's okay, I have some unfinished blogging from yesterday's prompt, and I would like to log that last day of the month on my blog calendar.

I was just about to start talking about my fellow bloggers in the Challenge when my uninterrupted time expired.

I met several new people this month, I'm not sure that I learned a whole bunch about them, but I'm a slow learner, which only means we'll have to form lengthy friendships if I'm expected to learn anything.

Meeting Debi Wharton and Eric Wharton was great, although I think Debi has stumbled into Andre's Banana Bar for last call. I love that they're a married couple participating in the Challange and other blogging groups. I had hoped at one time that Leslie would become involved in blogging, but it's not her thing. Leslie doesn't even read my blog anymore unless I ask to have a look, which is okay, because then I can write shit about her. Bwah hah hah.

I was not surprised to see Neva Prosperous Snow Valentine in the Challange, I've always enjoyed reading her entries and I think she is one of the most talented writers on the site.

KΓ₯re Enga in Udon Thani I've known for a while now. I find her his blog to be one of the most interesting, and is always a learning opportunity. I think of Kare when I write, I want to use more sophisticated words to appease her his masterful vocabulary, but then I decide, "Neh."
edited to accommodate a gender identification issue

There was a good turn out for this challenge, and I found it refreshing to have a larger number of male challengers involved. In some of the past challenges or groups, I've been the only male, or one of two if we count Wordsmitty ✍️ .

bobturn Writes and posts his blog 5 minutes after the prompt is posted. His entries are enjoyable reads, and his comments are always thoughtful and encouraging.

Robert Waltz Had me laughing a few times and also shares thoughtful and encouraging comments.

Commenting and carrying on a conversation is the best part about blogging on this site. It's what makes posting a blog on the site better than posting a blog on any other site. Tinker , tah2o, Sumojo , and QPdoll made my day on several days with their words of appreciation and encouragement.

Charlie ~ Fivesixer Emily PandaPaws Licensed VetTech BlueMoon Julie D - PUBLISHED! WakeUpAndLive️~🚬🚭2024 Sum1 and Apondia I just tagged for no reason except to say, "Made you look!"

The best part about this past challenge is that I seem to have my writing mojo back, thanks to all of the folks I tagged in this entry and the ones I missed. Thank you, bloggers!

My writing plans for this month are not too ambitious. Andre the Blog Monkey is hosting a 5 Day Truth or Fiction Blog Challenge over in the Banana Bar. I'll probably have to write some rules, break up fights, stuff like that for Andre. I'd like to try a few Flash Fiction entries along the way.

Leslie and I are planning to relocate this spring, we're not going far, but we've noticed that there are some pretty nice properties in the area going on the market at pretty reasonable prices, so we figured we should buy one of these places and move, otherwise... we'll have to clean the oven. I'm only saying this because I think I'll take another stab at the 30 Day Blog Challenge in March, but that would be the only one I'll be able to participate in until Sept-Oct.

It's been a slice!

Come check out the 5 Day Truth or Fiction Blog Challenge. It'll be a fun five days.

30 Day Blogging Challenge PROMPT for January 30, 2020

Congratulations on making it to the last day of the competition! What was your favorite prompt from the last month? Did you learn anything new about your fellow competitors? What was the most rewarding aspect of participating in the competition?

I don't mind saying that I'm very pleased with myself for completing this month's 30 Day Blog Challenge. I dropped out mid-month in my last few attempts. I returned to WDC in November of 2019 after a fairly lengthy break, and it seems that the break from writing/blogging has done me well.

Remember what it was like when you wrote with a ball-point pen and the pen was running low on ink, writing became laborious, and the quality of your work rapidly diminished? Then you got a new pen and writing became enjoyable again.

This is how I feel - like I have a new pen.

But enough about me!

There were a lot of good prompts this round. It's hard to keep coming up with BLOG prompts with repeating prompts. It's nice that creative writing prompts can be slipped in to make things more interesting and keep things fresh. I think there was a good mix of blog and writing prompts, which made the challenge fun.

My favorite prompt (it was hard to choose) was the 'Saturday Creation' prompt, which had us picking up our imaginary friend at Imagination Station. I've written several entries overtime on that same prompt, but this time I decided to take a different approach to my entry, and I was very pleased with my entry, and the comments on that entry.

My ninth WdC anniversary went by this month. I'm saying this because I don't think I learned anything new about a fellow competitor, but I realized how well you get to know people through blogging and reading their other written works, be it poetry, short stories, Facebook posts, etc.

Most of my fellow competitors this month are new to me, having been away from the site for nearly 18 months.

I know that I continued to write more about myself after I wrote, "enough about me"

And here is where I would write the part about you if I wasn't out of time, but I have to get going now.
But don't worry, I'll write another blog entry tomorrow because it's the 30 Day +1 Blogging Challenge this month.

30 Day Blogging Challenge PROMPT for January 29, 2020

What is your favorite virtue? Give a few examples like kindness, cleanliness, tact, truth, generosity. Is your favorite one you possess, or one you simply admire in other people? Do you have a strategy to develop it yourself?

I'm looking into virtues now. I thought I knew enough about them to get by, but I was surprised by how much I don't know.

No, really!

So there are the twelve virtues of Aristotle.

FROM:Aesthetichealingmindset's Blog
Aristotle was a Greek Philosopher, a student of Plato who was responsible for major contributions for metaphysics to ethics, aesthetics, and politics. Aristotle thought that there were two overriding virtues, intellectual and moral. The intellectual virtues he claimed were acquired by inheritance and education and the moral ones through the imitation of practice and habit. The highest virtue, according to Aristotle was intellectual contemplation. In addition, there are an additional 12 virtues that can also be attributed to Aristotle and they are as follows:

1) Courage – bravery and valor
2) Temperance – self-control and restraint
3) Liberality – bigheartness, charity and generosity
4) Magnificence – radiance, joie de vivre
5) Pride – self-satisfaction
6) Honor – respect, reverence, admiration
7) Good Temper – equanimity, level headedness
8) Friendliness – conviviality and sociability
9) Truthfulness – straightforwardness, frankness and candor
10) Wit – sense of humor – meaninglessness and absurdity
11) Friendship – camaraderie and companionship
12) Justice – impartiality, evenhandedness and fairness

Then there are the 7 Catholic virtues...

FROM:wikiversity
The Seven Heavenly Virtues
The seven heavenly virtues were derived from the Psychomachia ("Contest of the Soul"), an epic poem written by Aurelius Clemens Prudentius (c. AD 410) entailing the battle of good virtues and evil vices.

These seven virtues are:
Chastity,
Temperance,
Charity,
Diligence,
Patience,
Kindness &
Humility/humble.

I found a list of forty virtues: https://www.familiesofcharacter.com/devblog10809/2018/3/21/what-are-the-40-virtu...

Another list I found was one-hundred virtues long, I'll spare you the details. But it made me think...

Hmmm, Why do the Catholics only have seven virtues?

I'm a confirmed Catholic I know we like to have our virtues, sacraments, commandments, and sins numbered, and I get that!
But, why can't we have more virtues? We had forty days and forty nights of this, that, and the other thing! Why can't we have virtues like we had loaves of bread? There was enough for everyone, right. Jesus made the water into wine... He didn't just make seven bottles!

I'm just bitter because 'Wit – a sense of humor – meaninglessness, and absurdity' Isn't one of the Catholic Seven. It's almost as if they're saying to me, "We don't appreciate your sense of humor."

Well fine then, just for that I'm going to trash your virtues, all seven of them!

Chastity - Fuck That!
Temperance - You can see where this is going from my response to the first virtue... strike Temperance!
Charity - Oh yeah! It's sooooo important that we all be charitable. Ruby Red Shoes!
Diligence - I don't even know what that word means, so I'll just keep going until I've completed the list.
Patience - For what? What are we waiting for? What?
Kindness
Humility/humble
- That's not even two virtues, it's more like three virtues thrown together with an added forward slash to make it count as two virtues, but it's really only one virtue. You could have added 'sense of humor' and still have only seven virtues.

My favorite virtue is 'justice'

I've always had a keen sense of fairness, and I'm an 'honesty' is the best policy sort of person.
I'm a Libra, not that I believe in astrology, but I do accept the scales of justice as a life-sign.
I wanted to be a lawyer at one time. I only wanted to be a lawyer because I really wanted to be a judge.
I changed career goals when I learned - 'It's better to be a good garbage collector than a bad lawyer.'

I get along very well with people who do not share my sense of fairness because they give me the opportunity to try right a wrong, balance the scales. Honesty is the only MUST HAVE virtue I look for in other people.

Maybe virtues are a little dated, look at how long they've been around. I think it's time we ball up all the virtues and simplify discernment down to a question of, "OCD yes or no?"

And Yes! It helps if you have a sense of humor.
