This current Blog ( November 1st 2023-?) is being created in Mississippi. It's a journal of my journey . My way of bringing light 🕯️ to dispel the darkness in our world. Trying to navigate the craziness of our world and raising our 2 rescue kitties 😻! Fine-tuning my skills as a writer! I fight depression almost every day and deal with chronic pain issues. Using my faith, humor and humility. I bring experience from decades of learning spiritual guidance, using teachings from faith systems I've used to cope and learn to move forward. | Hi, y'all 🤠! Hope you didn't miss me too much 😘! I started a writing course 2 weeks ago and have been putting most of my writing energy into it. ( When it's finished I can spend more time here with everyone!) 😜 It's very challenging and it's been about 20 years since I took one like this. I got a B on the first test so must be doing better than I thought at first. I won't go into much about it until it's over. It's set to a private group. The teacher Jim has a lot of helpful writing tips and seems like an alright guy! He showed me better ways to Show in a story than tell. Another person in the class ( I'll never show or tell) thought it ok to review my work in public instead of doing it in a forum. I've dealt with it and know can't trust that person. Hope the GPS were worth it. The weather has been cold here ( though nothing compared to our family and friends in Oregon. Bad ice storm's and the city shut down for days. I had to see the dentist twice this week yuk but necessary! My second assignment is due tomorrow but haven't gotten very far. I started it and will be working on it late or not. I'm new to this describing emotions thing. It's good you use less words if the character acts out the emotion. In time I will share what I wrote after fixing the boo-boos! Anyway didn't forget about you ☺️! They have the back looking like a more. Our power and water were off for hours yesterday and today 😞. No fun there but hopefully they will be done ( and not hit the electric power line again) Hope y'all are having a decent New Year! My granddaughter is on the phone gotta go! Hugs 🤗! |
| Wow y'all 😮 it was 20 years ago today! ( Sargent pepper taught the band to play ⏯️!🎹🎸🎻🎼🎶) Now that I've planted that ear memory 🤣... Ok so really I found WDC one cold morning in Georgia 2004. The Internet was getting it's feet on the ground and on our PC with world famous dial up! I was always a ✏️ pencil pen 🖊️ paper 📜 type of lady and wondered what I could find related to writing in this new format. 🤔 I soon was coming up with a username soon I was dddreamcat@writing.com! I remember being glued to the screen and overwhelmed with how many people, things to do and all that was going on at this site! I had checked out 2 other writing sites and joined but compared to WDC paled in format and activities. A nice lady there befriended me and admitted she too missed the whole Newbie experience but found help and guidance from so many people who really cared. In time I learned the take the chance and make items as well as friends. I knew little about what the in and outs of writing for others were about. I had read books but here was a place one could ask a question ⁉️ and get a quick response even several! Through the years moving and family realities took over my life. My granddaughter will be 20 this year! Her mother was pregnant with her in January of 2020. I just go wow thinking about that time. I submitted 2 articles that year to a local college newspaper and made my first $200 and that came in handy for food and diapers 😁 LoL. Today I'm taking a course here on Showing characters emotions. It's been awhile since I tried anything like that challenge! I'm thankful my Muse didn't croak 🐸 as I wondered if I bit off more than I could possibly chew... My mentor Sunny and a few other friends here help me in ways too many to name ❤️... So I wish you all a very blessed New Year, happy whatever your anniversary is ( Sunny 😎 was this week at a super 20 years too!) | Wow it's been 6 days since was here ( very busy as most of y'all have been also 😉- having a great time). I was going to try to do the prompt at Andres banana blog bar. After 3 days realized I couldn't since New Year Eve was different in my own past experiences. Over the years we've seen many dresses to go somewhere and celebrate 🥳. I like blue sequins with silver or gold trim lol! The reality is we couldn't afford our tastes! and were raising our kids or grandkids and it didn't fit into our life. I remember New years Eve 1971. I had just turned 17 and was living with a forster mom and her daughters in Brooklyn NY. Her boyfriend invited us all to the Waldorf Astoria to celebrate leaving 1970 behind. He had the Penthouse and access to a huge pool in a glass enclosure. We got bathing suits and soon was sitting in the heated pool and watching the snow ❄️ coming down above us on the glass panes. ( I wanted to stay home and watch Dick Clark's Rocking evening on TV!) Instead I stood in the pool with a white Russian in my hand, just loving the snowflakes above in the surreal but peaceful moments before New years 🎉. Tonight we watched the movie Golem and it was pretty good! I did the kitchen for half an hour before coming up here whew. I have a test next week so I have to study some more. Once I open the email it's closed book. Tomorrow is Monday the first and we have to go to Walmart for food and kitty stuff. Get the MO for rent and pay bills. Remember to post weekly goals and get ready for the show don't tell class next week on WDC. I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year and pray 🙏 peace will come one day. | Well merry Christmas 🎄🎁 everyone ⛄!!! It's been busy here since last I wrote ( but didn't forget about y'all!!!) Hoping everyone is having a wonderful day and has been up till now!!! We made it to Gulfport a couple of times I think I wrote about our BD at the Italian restaurant Salute ( if I didn't will!) We also took pictures at the Beau Ravage ( a fancy casino that has awesome decorations for the holidays! We played my 2 bucks but didn't win lol) Took a lot of nice pics and a cool older couple took a picture of us, and we took one of them! He was laughing as he said his arm was too short to take couple selfies!!! (As I was writing this had to go outside. There's a few 🚒 fire trucks that drove past and wanted to make sure we didn't have to take the kitties and leave.. it's dark at 5:30 and saw a full 🌕 moon and walked till saw the trucks a few complex away but thank God no fires or smoke . Just a few kids enjoying their bikes and scooters!) Anyway I had a lot of birthday wishes on and offline 🎊! I even got a BD Merit badge for the first time 🙂! It was a good day. Maxy and MoJo loved the kitty wands with felt fishy! The presents were awesome and included socks, underwear,make up and brushes and my favorite MAD special collection edition: golden collection of garbage 😀! A take off of sesame Street and MASH! I lost a trunk full over the decades but happy to have this ( more than I can say!) We spoke with the grandkids in Oregon and spoke with my grandson in Georgia. Wow a great day! No pain just joy for a change!So sending hugs and smiles to each and every one of you 🎄😊💯😎 We couldn't find my favorite black Forrest cake 🍰 at Walmart but found chocolate! I have to doctor it up with some whipped cream! Prayers for all and peace 🕊️🐾 |
| Good evening y'all! I had hoped to write ✍️ this afternoon and had started but got distracted. My sister is sick with a bad cold and has been ( in her words cranky) She was fine this morning but her eyes started tearing up on the way to donate cat food to the Jackson animal shelter. I've mentioned the Pushka ( charity box) we have and Last month I decided to use it to help the animals. We took the money to Walmart today and bought a box of 12 Friskies cans. Last summer we brought them some and they said the kitties 😻 love it! It's been very cold 🥶 past couple of days ugh. Well I took pictures and will share on Facebook tomorrow. I found out that the text to heart class PDF was sent on December 3rd, but didn't know till today. It's a test on the Jewish version of Genesis. The test is Jan 5th and it's going to be hard. I'm behind in studying but will do my best. I also have a class here on WDC Jan 8 th it starts! The tuition was paid for the first 10 students who asked to take it! I'm excited and looking forward to it too 😄! hope I didn't bite off more than I can chew. I'm hoping everyone here will have a blessed Christmas! I ordered a WDC travel cup from the store here and used GPS! So am a bit tired and overwhelmed at the moment. Tomorrow have to drive to Gulfport (30 miles away) praying my sister feels better in the morning. Sending hugs to all! |
| Hi y'all 👋🤠 there again! It's 2:51 PM and I don't usually drink my Starbucks tripleshot mocha can this late in the day but will blame it on the holidays lol! Yesterday after the laundry 🧺 my niece called and we got to speak to our grandson and that was awesome. They are calling this weekend too and don't have to tell you how much that means to me and us! Wednesday was my Jewish birthday on the lunar calendar 😊. The Rabbi in Alabama called and had friends visiting my area ( 30 miles away.) He was sending us a gift card for Hanukah! That afternoon 2 Hasidim young men ( with beards and long side burns dressed in dark clothing that was from another era) their faces were friendly and eyes full of joy of faith. We spoke about my non Jewish for the most part (except for a "Bissel" a little bit, )of what it meant. This is what I wrote to a friend on Whatsapp! Good morning 🌄, just got home from getting Mojo kitty nails clipped. Very nice people there and cheap price 😉. So I don't know if I told you but I didn't light the Chanukah candles for 6 days. I put them in, very overwhelmed with the sadness of the war. Then on Wednesday the Rabbi called to say his friends would be in this area and would bring us a gift card and sorry it took so long to do it. I told him don't worry about how long and was glad his family and him were ok. We appreciate his Mitzvah(good deed). My phone was breaking up ( the area here is very rural) we texted some of the conversation. About 4:30 we heard someone outside and I went out to see 2 nice Hasidic young men outside and we started talking! They had a Manorah on the roof of the car!🕎 One seemed a little nervous but I put him at ease and told him I once saw the Rebbe, when I was a little girl and didn't know who he was but could tell there was something special about him! There were little boys with Yalmukas with him. I wasn't brought up very Jewish and was 30 years old when I started my journey of what was Jewish. They enjoyed our talk and gave me some Chocolate gelt (coins)and 4 tea lights for Shabbos and a Chabad Chanukah magazine! After telling that I didn't light my Manorah, they convinced me with very heartfelt words to light them and bring the much needed light to add to each candle and fight the darkness. Very profound to me and last night I lit all 7 candles! Tonight I will light 8 hoping to bring good. End of message! (My friend y'all is in her 80s. I never saw her picture but she is very kind!) So I have some presents to put under the Christmas tree! We were able to get socks and other useful things at Walmart yesterday before laundry!Whoo hoo I even got hair dye! Watch out 😜 now lol! | Oh crap 🙄 y'all - no posts in 8 days! Oye you must have bored or busy like me lol 😆. I still get daily reminders to post in my blog and didn't change it after I did the NABLOPOMO thing! It's been a helluva great week and super busy! In fact ( at the laundry 🧺 again) it will take a couple of posts to get us caught up indeed 😁! Tag your it ( gotta return some snow ❄️ balls here and help Roake too. Sunday was Cheryl's 70 bday 🎈🎂 she had a great 😃 day, so did I! Her daughter sent us Christmas/Birthday presents from the kids and her! The mailer was under the 🌲 tree. She said which were the BD prez and had me open the box! Cheryl got an awesome water color painting 🖌️🎨 set. The best presents were the mothers day cards Dominic made for us ( that were late) better late than never! So will post this and add more later! |
| My it's Dec 8 th already?! 3 days since I said hey y'all! We've been going out on errands, mostly food shopping and looking for deals at thrift stores but none were out there. We tried Goodwill and Saint Vincent and American thrift man there was nothing to be found. Last year it was a different story but now it seems like people are keeping what they have, rather than buying much new stuff. We were also looking for a Christmas 🎄 tree and hoping we could find something for a few bucks. A used one ( not even nice was 35 bucks and no lights on either). Last week we bought a 5 buck lottery scratch off and hit 100 bucks! Found a nice one at Walmart for 40! It's white with blue lights on it! Of course got some food and kitty food. The money doesn't go very far but even though we are having a small Christmas it will be nice 🙂. My sister turns the big 70 baby this weekend! ( I got her a Grateful Dead tee shirt from eBay!) When they started, they were selling five bucks tees in the parking lot! I got a good deal considering how much some of them are these days 😉. We got some hanging lights today for the wall. They look like icicles and are blue! Tomorrow we pull out the Xmas ornaments and will decorate! Hanukah is tomorrow and have a small Menorah. I may add candles but in the face of the war and everything that is so terrible for all the people involved. I don't think I will light them. Things have changed so much since a few years ago, when pictures of us and the grandkids were celebrating. There's so much hate and ignorance in the world that prevents peace from happening. It for me and others make it hard to have faith. I want good things for people and will continue to be who I am. There's many good people who give me hope still. Finally after nearly 2 years I'm not in the horrible pain now. I feel 10 years younger from the relief and will get back to ballet and writing more. That's a miracle in itself and though I can't control what happens in the world, I can take care of what I can, including myself! Thank you all for being there through this trip! Still figuring out what I will write ✍️ this coming year 😉! |
