Alarm goes off. Another day is underway to start the week. The daily grind with promise bleak, it makes me shriek 'til Friday comes. |
Our mission called, but weather had us stalled, until Eisenhower gave the command. When ramps went down, we thought that we would drown before we could traverse the narrow sand. We hit the beach and fought like hell to breach the enemy's fortified resistance. For days, the battle wailed, but our forces prevailed, thanks to our unwavering persistance. From bloody plot, some came back, some did not. We paid a hefty price for victory when it was done, without comparison, forever etched in tomes of history. |
Unsuspecting refugee, who was yearning to be free from the grip of tyranny, paid coyote hefty fee to avoid authority on quest to reach boundary. That was just a fantasy. They ripped him from family to raise odds, supposedly, then left him in jeopardy and flames of hostility. Very soon, he came to see a traumatic tapestry of emotional debris. Hunger, heat, and misery line the trail to liberty, so he struggled until he met his final destiny. Notes ▼ |
Sunrise bumblebees hum a sprightly tune on quest for sweet nectar-- the joys of life on earth. Notes on the Cinquino form of poetry ▼ |
Enormous joy derives from honest toil while working with one's hands in garden soil to cultivate in harmony with land and get away from all that social roil. We're planting food and flower gardens grand and harvesting tomatoes to be canned beside a bed of blushing peonies, protecting earth like Mother Nature planned. The melody of buzzing honey bees in search of food among the cherry trees and salty perspiration soon reveal the Heaven sent delights we try to seize. When work day is finally done, we kneel to help a badly jaded spirit heal with tender golden corn on cob to boil when Mama cooks our special Sunday meal. Notes ▼ |
Memorial Day parade shows off the patriotic spirit in all those who come to cheer it with flags flying, bands playing, and soldiers marching, backyard barbecues followed by flashy fireworks display arching through the night sky to conclude the celebration expressing gratitude for those who protect our nation. Many of us give thanks all year long in effort to keep our troops' morale strong. |
Originally entered in Round 84 of the "Invalid Item" : "Invalid Post" I listen to the breeze imploring me to seize the chance and join in Nature's dance upon the broad expanse of green, where deer and geese convene in harmony between the hills among the daffodils with music from the milling bees. Water lilies bloom and calm a troubled pilgrim, who wandered on scene as they rest on quiet pond away from the bustling crowd. Those vibrant blossoms resurrect a sense of worth, so he can go on. Notes on the Oriental Octet form of poetry ▼ |
