Here at my personal blog Thoughts & Things, I share a wide variety of, you guessed it, thoughts and things. Anything that sparks my interest is up for discussion. For those who are uncertain of what that might cover, I'll generally talk about reading, writing, books, movies, music, games, history, current events, and feminism. I talk about my personal emotional and health struggles from time to time. I'm also a big fan of lists.

I don't know you, but I stumbled on your blog through the blogging page, and I just want to say that I'm really sorry to read about your father. My own father died when I was very young and the pain has still never fully healed. All my sympathies.

There is a book by Rainbow Rowell which says exactly this. So your opinion is well supported by me as well as Rowell.

Reading plays is another challenge for me since I love and prefer prose over play. I've read the link and it made me so sad reading it.

I hate sad endings. They make the best stories though. I guess I'll make reading William Shakespeare my New Year Resolution for next year or something I'd write for Dear Me 2018.

I like your observation on the writing. I'm still trying to see what is it about the much-talked-about genius-ity (if there's such a word) called William Shakespeare.

No problem! I am not a die hard Shakespeare fan by any means, but I definitely think writers should have a basic familiarity at least. You can definitely see where a lot of modern writing has developed from Shakespeare's work. It's so hard to read for the first or second time outside of a classroom setting though, since guidance is definitely necessary for a bit of translation. The only volumes I have of Shakespeare's work are the kind that have notes on interpretation.

Because they are plays, they also work really well on stage or in film as an alternative to reading them. Most of them are performed using the traditional language though, so it's not always helpful.

Wow.............. thank you for the recommendation. I struggle to read William Shakespeare's stuff even though they say all writers ought to read his brilliant works. Ahhhhhhhh.... thank you so much! That's so awesome!
