Reading, Writing, Pondering: Big Life Themes, Literature, Contemporary/Historical Issues |
Welcome to the 14th century, in a farflung outpost of the Holy Roman Empire, and a new Convent outpost of the terrrifically powerful Roman Catholic Church. Sound historically dull? Hopefully not so--for this is NOT an ordinary 14th Century Convent. Back after a six-year hiatus.... From NaNoWriMo historical Supernatural novels in Scotland, Michigan, South Alabama and historical horror in Standwood Station, GA-to the Phantom Northern Woods-to singlehandedly refighting the American Civil War-to exploring Social Justice and standing for First Amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution-we deal out horror, Supernatural, Historical, fantasy, mystery, and more. We do not fear outspokeness. And always, always, always, We Do History. Find it here. We write it. We read it. We hold strong opinions. We orate. Meanwhile, whether we're writing or just reading, we love to rave about books and authors right here! |

Daughter's in labour with her 6th, so today I will be grandmother of 3 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 5 stepgranddaughters, 3 step grandsons, great-grandmother of 2 step-granddaughters and 2 step-grandsons (those last four are one family LOL) NaNo Novel now at just under 66K. going for 70K and I wish to finish it today, as I have the 2010 NaNo incomplete (but winner) and the May 31-present novel to work on with Experimental Plotters Challenge in December. |
Going for 35K today; 40K on the 12th; and NaNo stats show me reaching 50K on the 15th. However, the novel is shaping up to pass my goal of 70K, and probably reach 80K at least. Today it is laying groundwork for a future novel-one in which I won't have to leave behind my MC after all (this is his third book) even though he dies at the end of the current NaNo project. So I'm happy about that, and about the inspiration this AM to deepen one of the very minor players from the first novel in this series. Additionally, I commenced Stephen King's brand-newest (just published yesterday) "11/22/63" last night-Enraptured so far! |
I reached 25K yesterday, Monday Nov. 7. That is halfway for NaNo requirement of 50K, in less than a quarter of the time frame. But I decided in Oct. to go for 70K, and last week decided 80K would be nice. So in that delineation, I'm not at halfway yet. Still reading, of course; the new Stephen King, published today, arrived at the library for me on reserve yesterday; hope to get it today. Also have 7 writing books from the library and 5 of my own to read through. |

Looking for Sponsors! Anyone wanting to contribute to several WDC charitable groups, come on over to
and sponsor me, or any of our other wonderful participants as we travel along the Yellow Brick Road to another NaNoWriMo win! |
Completed the October NaNo Prep Challenge on Tuesday Oct. 18, so will get a Merit Badge for that completion, and surprisingly received a Cheerleading Merit Badge from it yesterday! Very thankful! Just finished Experimental Plotters Challenge today (a 30-day program) so now will have 11 more days to reread and hopefully edit the first three books in "The Testament Logging Corporation Chronicles," of which the NaNo novel this year will be Book Four. This way I'll be steeped in the milieu. This series is a subset of "The Phantom Northern Woods Tales." |
Hah! BOTH novels won! I decided to finish Lee Child's "Persuader" (which btw is Jack Reacher #7) and THEN about 10:20 PM began reading Whitley Strieber's "Hybrids." As always with Mr. Strieber, the book takes an unexpected turn from the very beginning-but is nevertheless fascinating. Soon I will post the October-so-far books read list. Thank you as always for bearing with me, Gentle Readers. I would like to participate in Earl's November Blog Challenge, but I haven't yet decided-as November is for NaNo and I'm going for 70K words this year!! |
