This blog keeps me in touch with WDC. Jamesdillingham.com keeps me in touch elsewhere.
I like to stay in touch with WDC, even when I'm not contributing on a daily basis. My main blog is at jamesdillingham.blogspot.com

So...I've been back for three days. During that time I entered 4 contests.

Each time I wrote a story, I sat back amazed. No, I was not amazed at my skill (or lack thereof). I was amazed that something existed that wasn't there before I wrote it down. It's like a mini-miracle. I created something new. Me. I did it.

How rewarding is that?

I also took a look at my stats for the first time in months. For some reason, people are reading my mini-creations. In 4 years, my stories have been "viewed" almost 67,000 times; 245 times yesterday alone.

This is hugely rewarding for me. To write and have people read my stories is just too good to be true.

So thank you WDC and all of you WDC members out there.

I'm getting on a plane soon. With me will be prompts from the Daily Flash Fiction Challenge and the Writer's Cramp.

After months away, I've entered two Flash Fiction contests in two days. I have the day off (stuck in a hotel) so I may enter the Writer's Cramp and another Flash Fiction. Feels good to be creative again.

I guess the more important issue is that I'm back; at least I hope I am.

I have been working and traveling non-stop for over a year now. So far, I have 150,000 miles in the air on over 105 airplanes. Additionally, my wife has finally moved to the United States (after 15 years of living in Hungary while I live in California). While this cuts down on the need to travel internationally, there can be no question that a wife who is constantly here, take up most of my attention.

Anyway...

I have been blogging (jamesdillingham.com) and thus, writing. However, this is more "venting" than "creating."

I need to get back to my book.

But first a warm-up.

I'm getting ready to get on a airplane in a few minutes. I've just downloaded today's prompt for the Daily Flash Fiction Challenge.

There will be plenty of time to write this week since I'll be spending the week in Ohio with only a meeting or two every day.

I hope to get back in to my groove...I can feel it already...

Still plugging along on my book. Just posted Chapter 37. I have 79,000 words. I'm thinking 100-120K words will do it.

Travel for work is making this hard. United used to put me in first class all the time. Now I seem to spend most of my time in center seats at the back of the bus with someone reclining onto my lap...alas...

I am here for a couple of weeks. Still working on book. I need about 29K more words. Not a problem - storywise. I just need to sit and write.

Same old story for me...

Lots of travel and not enough time to write.

I'm on chapter 34 of my book; about 70,000 words. I finally have my character out in public where he can start to "mysteriously" change the world.

I'm essentially booked through July. It' nice to be busy but its tiring at the same time. Here is my schedule: Zanesville, Oh - Seelyville, In, - Midland, Mi - Seelyville - Akron, Oh,- Seelyville - Budapest - Midland - home for week - Midland - home for week - Midland - Louiseville, Ky etc...

Pays the bills until I become famous.

Still writing my daily blog which seems to have evolved into a conservative blog (http://jamesdillingham.com). Stop by and say hi.

On a whim, I entered a contest last week. Surprisingly, I won. That was fun. I miss entering contests daily and interacting with the people on WDC. I've been intentionally NOT entering contests in a effort to focus on my book. I'm now up to 32 chapters and 68K words. I think I'm about 2/3 of the way done.

My plan is to finish then go to a professional editor. I'm guessing 5K for that (plus a lot of rewriting). I figure $500 for a cover. Then I need to set up my online publishing (hardcover) with Amazon. After that, I go to market. I've been growing my blog so now I can tell 1,500 readers in one day that I have a book out.

Let's see how that goes.

I've posted another chapter in my book. I'm up to 67K words so I'm about 2/3 done. My blog (http://jamesdillingham.com) was hit over 1,400 time yesterday. This is great because this will be one of my platforms for selling my book when I'm done. The plan is to get a lot of people saying, "Hey, I like this guy's blog so I'll probably like his book as well."

I just had an old story reviewed and the content rating changed. It was rated E but since it had the term "screwed" in it, the rating was changed.

I find this offensive.
