Rooted and Built-up Part 2
Colossians 2:3,6-10

In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him; Rooted and built up in him and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding there in with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the traditions of men, after the rudiments of the world and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.

There's a warning that comes with this pack of verses. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit. Philosophy is the way you see the world. Philosophy is your way of thinking. Make sure that someone doesn't come along and try to pull you away from the truth of God's word. Don't follow after the traditions of men and rudiments of the world. Traditions of men could be that you have to have 30 minutes of quiet time or you have to pray for an hour a day in order to hear from God. The rudiments of the world are not much different. You can't be content without the big house, lots of money and/or expensive cars. These things can change your focus. Now if you have a 30-minute quiet time, or pray for an hour these aren't wrong. The point is where is your focus. Is your focus on God and his word or is it I gotta do this because I have to?

Father, I praise you, you are a good Father. You are my Creator and my source. Thank you for this insight into your word. Show me where I've followed the traditions of men and rudiments of the world. Help me to make mental changes and if need by physical changes in my life.
In Jesus Name amen.

Rooted and Built-up Part 1
Colossians 2:3,6-10

In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him; Rooted and built up in him and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the traditions of men, after the rudiments of the world and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.

Let's break this down into smaller pieces. This is a lot to take in.
Jesus holds all the treasure and wisdom of God. You can access that treasure and wisdom as you mature in your knowledge of him. As you learn what his word says about you and the relationship he wants to have with you.
Rooted and built up in him, the roots of what you know from him his word will only grow deeper when you meditate or think on his word. Stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught abounding therein with thanksgiving. Your faith will grow the more you use it. The more thankful you become for even the small things in life, the more your faith will grow and you'll be more rooted in Him.

Father, thank you for this day and this time with you. Lord, I want my roots to grow in you. I believe you'll help me and I receive your help. You are good God and faithful to bring your word to pass. In Jesus' name amen.

Be who God wants
Psalm 103:1-5

Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is in me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord O my soul, and forget not all His benefits; who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases. Who redeems thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things, so that thy youth is renewed like the eagles.

God's work is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The praise you give God is powerful. Use the word to give yourself peace and healing and deliverance. Who you are is already in you. Do not forget that he has done all these things in your life already. God has forgiven you of all your sins and provided your healing through his word. He's kept you safe. You don't know how many times the enemy has tried to take you out. He gives you his loving kindness and tender mercies every day. He satisfies you with food and drink and clothes to wear and the word to feed your spirit, making your youth and energy return to your body. You have to believe it and know it's available to you.

Father, thank you for all that you've provided for me in this life. Thank you for your safety and healing, forgiveness and love. Show me how to live this life out for you.
In Jesus' name amen.

I am what I am
1 Corinthians 15:10

But by the grace of God, I am what I am, and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain, but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was in me.

I am what I am. This verse is one of my favorites because I can place just about any promise God has made to me and it fits. For example: but the grace of God I am saved by grace, and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain. Or place chosen in place of saved by grace. Or in Christ, healed, sealed, prospered, accepted, righteous. Take your pick of any number of promises.
This does not mean you can put a murderer or homosexual or abortionist, or drunkard there and say you are this way because of the grace of God. IT doesn't work that way. God is not a liar if he said it's wrong before Jesus died and after Jesus died it's still wrong.
Because the grace of God is on your life to do what he wants you'll notice that your life will run a lot smoother. He'll help you get more done in a day than some in two days or you'll have more energy to do what needs to be done.

Father, I thank you for your grace. Your unmerited, unearned favor on my life. Thank you for creating me who you want me to be. I ask you if I have not found the purpose for which you have made me, please help me find it. Help me to realize what it is you created me to do.
If I've figured out what you want me to do, thank you. Thank you that I enjoy what I do and who I am in you.
In Jesus' name Amen.

Saved by Grace
Ephesians 2:8

For by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourself, it is a gift of God.

This is one of those verses that believers throw around to save others, to prove there's nothing you can do to earn your salvation. While that's true, there's more.
Not only are we saved from going to hell, but we are also healed from all diseases, kept in safety of God's wings, delivered from addictions and restored to health.
The woman with the issue of blood, she touched the hem of Jesus' garment, when Jesus noticed power had been pulled from him he asked who. She stepped forward, he restored not only her life and health but her finances and deliverance from those who took everything from her. It's the same with us.
As believers, we go through things but we are not supposed to stay in our valley. We are not supposed to stay sick, we are not supposed to be so poor we can't rub two pennies together. We aren't supposed to be addicted to anything but Jesus.
By grace - unmerited, unearned, unfair favor, you are made right with God. It's available to everyone and everyone intuitively knows about it.
There's nothing you can do apart from belief in Jesus and acceptance of the free gift to earn it. Praise God!

Father,
Thank you that your offer of salvation is available to me today no matter what I've done. I believe Jesus died for my sins, he willingly took my punishment for them and paid the price. I accept your free gift of salvation. You made me for a time and place such as this.
Please change my heart with the washing of your word. Take all and any impurities from me. If anything has a foothold or stronghold please give me a desire to remove it.
Your grace Father is enough. Your grace is all I need. Thank you for saving me.
In Jesus' name Amen.

Chosen Generation
1 Peter 2:9-10

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation; a peculiar people that you should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light; which in time past were not a people, but are not the people of God; which had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

Every generation is a chosen generation by God. The gentiles were not people who were under the covenant of God before Jesus died; only the Israelites. After Jesus died everyone is welcome into the kingdom.
We are made to be kings and priests. That means we should look different from everyone else. WE are pulled from darkness into light. Being pulled from darkness not only means that we were pulled from sin and dark of the world but we are also pulled from ignorance and blindness to what God has hidden from others. 1 Corinthians 1:29-31 is a great example of what light we've been given. We are made wisdom, righteousness, sanctification redemption, so we give our Creator the glory and see His mercy.

Father,
Thank you for choosing me. Thank you for making me yours not because you had to but because you wanted to. Thank you for making me wisdom and righteousness.
In Jesus' name Amen.

Special Chosen
Deuteronomy 7:6

For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

The Israelites were chosen by God to be a people set apart or different from the world. They were to be better than everyone else. WE as God's children are supposed to live differently than the world. We are supposed to look different, act different, be different enough that the world wants what we have.
We are supposed to infect the world but we have a tendency to look just like it.

Father,
You chose me to be different from the world. Thank you for never giving up on me. Help me to infect others with your life. Thank you for your guidance.
In Jesus' name Amen.

James 1:18

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that he should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. (KJV)
And it was of his own [free] will that He gave us birth [as sons] by [His] word of truth, so that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures [a sample of what He created to be consecrated to Himself.] (AMP)

The first fruits were the first part of the crop the Jews grew. It was sacred to God to have the first. It made him the priority. And it provided for the Levite priests who only worked in the temple.
Firstfruits are sacred, set apart from the rest of the crop. As believers, we are born of God as firstfruits in Jesus.

Father,
Thank you for a new day. Thank you for making me your first fruit. Thank you for your sonship in my life. Thank you for your life-giving word.
In Jesus' name Amen.

I am Chosen
John 15:16

You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

God the Father chose us. To choose someone is to pick it out, make it your own. He chose us and ordained us. He placed us, appointed us to bear fruit. Your season may be in a harsh winter or hot dry summer or just right in the spring, your roots should be digging deep in the spring, your roots should be digging deep during all these times.
Find your nourishment in the living water of His word so your fruit will be healthy for others to see and eat of. As you dig deep into the word, you will know what to ask of the Father in Jesus' name, and He will gladly give it to you.

Father, Thank you for choosing me. Thank you for planting me where I am. Thank you for everything. Father help me to dig deep into the ground of my heart. Help me till up the hard ground places and show me where the rocks are that need to be removed. Show me what seeds of your word I need to plant in my life.
In Jesus' name Amen.

More to Life
1 Corinthians 1:29-31

That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption: That according as it is written, He that glorieth let him glory in the Lord.

No flesh - our physical bodies should not glory in the presence of the Lord. Our spirit is of Christ. God made - created from substance - wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctified and redeemed. We are made these things in Christ and Christ is in us so we have the wisdom of God in us.
How then do we access this wisdom? We have to believe we have the wisdom of God. We have to believe we can access wisdom then speak to the wisdom and pull it out of ourselves.
We do the same for righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.

Father,
I praise you, you are holy. You made me wisdom. I believe you gave me your wisdom. I believe I can access your wisdom in what I'm going through. Show me how to pull your wisdom out of me.
In Jesus name amen.
