Blog City Prompt: St. Andreas Fault, Jurassic World, an American Heroes movie and a Mad Max movie. Which one of these movies coming out this summer do you want to see? What a lovely thought. Going to the movies. Unfortunately I live in a more third-world type country that doesn’t have a movie theatre (like you have at the mall) But there’s this guy who walks down the aisle of the bus before it leaves selling DVDs. And sometimes he might have a black market copy of one of those films made on a hand-held with the sound recorded inside the theater (coughs and laughs included). Then if I’m really lucky, someone appears with copies from the Academy made for Oscar voters. The best version and copy. Those are wonderful! The DVDs cost about $1.50BZ. We just got a copy of “Utron, The Avengers” Barely could watch that---so much violence and millions of split-second edits that it became bewildering without knowing who is doing what to who. Maybe the story line was good, but the animators drowned it with their special effects, and the sound was awful. People say, “Why don’t you watch movies from the Internet?” Well another benefit of our third-world economy. the bandwidth available is usually not strong enough to load a U-Tube video without long waits for every 3 seconds of movie. Most days on WDC I can’t play music or video clips, or it cuts out with: Server Not Found message. If you are in the civilized parts of the US, Europe or Asia, you must appreciate the advanced technology that provides high speed Internet, even on your phone, which is now really a miniature computer. But somehow, more important to me---we have clean air, sunshine, ocean, jungles, and great natural, organic food that seem more important for living. You know? A pointed finger is a victim’s logo.” -- Joseph Brodsky Your opinions on the subject? I’m confused about the pointing finger. I thought the finger pointed at you would be blaming. So victim’s logo has me questioning. If it’s my finger pointing the I am doing the blaming, yes? I think either way should be avoided. I do notice that many people have to blame someone or something for what’s happened to them or a hurt they caused, or an error that is really their fault. Blog City Prompt: Put on a cape and declare yourself the super-duper hero of something...properly conjugated verbs, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, run-on sentences, maybe the best photographer...whatever sweet place you are ready or not ready to claim as yours. Tell us all about it! Shape yourself or shake yourself into this new role... I have faith in your abilities. Note: I really didn’t write it this way, but it seemed to be a good example of the kind of thing suggested by the prompt. That is run-on sentences: The great gold-domed cathedral somewhere behind her would be another target of her vengeance on the corrupt men of Carfane, but first, she had a husband to care for, and many hurt and distressed men and women who looked to her for guidance while the curse loomed over her like a great black cloud that threatened more destruction forcing her to realize that her teeth were clenched just like those of her Ruby Warrior when he refused to accept defeat or even compromise. (definitely not an excerpt from Knights of Sparrow) Now peanut butter and jelly is something else. You have to have good whole wheat bread that’s been buttered with real butter. Sort of a softener for the application of chunky-style peanut butter, which requires a good thick layer before the jelly, preferably strawberry jam, is added as a top layer. This is not a sandwich, but devoured as an open-face peanut butter and jelly delight. Desperate times will get you by using white soda crackers, or absolute desperation the knife is inserted into the chunk-style jar, and you eat the good stuff right off the knife. I am a champion photographer. Worked a number of years in an advertising agency in Buffalo, NY (Really Tonawanda) where I photographed people, buildings, products and food. Then watched my work get reproduced in 4-color printing. Awesome. Later had a few years working in a glamour photography studio using my movie make-up skills to transform plain women into their dream image for a few minutes. On the side I photographed weddings---many weddings---OMG what dramas I have seen backstage at the reception and in the anti-rooms of the churches! It’s cool, photographers get a free dinner. Also in those same decades, I worked as a television news photographer and pushed my camera into lots of unhappy faces. Did a lot of basketball games and later had some wonderful contracts video taping and providing live-stream for the National College Rodeos. Liked that the best. We are all guilty at times of telling instead of showing: I am going to give you some sentences that definitely tell, give me some examples of show, one or all of them. Whatever works for you. I am sure it will be interesting. *Bigsmile* Her hair was a mess. I hate the smell of roses. He couldn't wait to see her again. You always change your mind. The moon is full. 1. Her hair was a mess. The wind caught the broad brim of her stylish hat, lifting it with all her carefully pinned curls. The feathered hat departed for the heavens, but her precious hair-do expanded, uncurled, spitting pins in all directions. She transformed from the ultra elegant lady to looking like a wild-looking escapee from the private clinic where she usually donated several thousand pounds. 2. I hate the smell of roses. She had hoped he would admire her garden when she invited him to have an early tea on the terrace. He walked in looking debonair as usual, kissed her hand with lingering lips. “You look lovely. The country air must agree with you.” She guided him to the table beside the most beautiful pink and white roses. The linen, lace-edged, with the one-hundred year old China plates and cups, the pattern exactly matching the deep red roses, freshly cut, that decorated the centerpiece. He sat for a moment, looking concerned and not particularly happy. “There is one thing I should confess to you before we discuss our engagement. I hate the smell of roses.” It was at that exact moment the wind took her hat! 3.He couldn't wait to see her again. She became transformed when the wind took her hat and destroyed all the fussy curls that made her look so prim and perfect. Now with the wind free in her hair, a more natural, sexual creature he had never seen. He couldn’t wait to see her again. She cried and clung to him. He forgot all about the tea and the roses. 4.You always change your mind. White linen pants, be damned. He dropped to one knee, one hand reaching for the small ring box in his coat pocket. “You are too perfect! I beg you to marry me. And don’t just say yes, you have to mean it this time. You always change your mind when we have to face your mother. I love you! I will even love your mother if you will marry me!” 5. The moon is full. “Think about it, my darling. In just five days time we can be married when the moon is full. It will be breathtaking down by the lake, and you will be breathtaking in your mother’s wedding dress. Only with your hair down and blowing free like the natural woman that your are. Please say yes, because I love you.” Her soft lips touched his and he tasted tears of happiness. Just then her sour and stern mother stepped onto the terrace. “Abigail, I would have a word with you.” She looked daggers at the man who stood like a fool with dirty spots on his white pants. Blog City Prompt: Checking email, most of us don't have jobs that require it but we do it anyway. It is simply compulsive behavior? What other compulsive behaviors do you have? How can we get control of our compulsiveness?. Now what is the difference between compulsive behavior and addiction? You could say smokers are compulsive---several times every hour they have to have nicotine. Alcoholics are compulsive or are they addicted? There are levels of difficulty in stopping the behavior. And for some it becomes a lifetime of trying to stop. When I was much younger I discovered I could not have a drink (alcoholic) or a cup of coffee without a cigarette. In order to stop smoking, I had to stop drinking. I did both. On my own without any help except teasing from my friends who smoked and drank. Hardest thing I ever did in my entire life. Never touched a cigarette again and cannot handle more than one glass of wine with dinner. Being the child of an alcoholic creates a world of education that I finally really looked at and saw the path I was on. We live---we learn---or we don’t. Blog City Prompt: What is the most difficult task for you in living your life--day to day, or if you wish, in general? For me it would be holding off all the distractions, interruptions and obligations that eat into my writing time. Writing a novel takes time, and the creative part requires absolutely no break in my thoughts or I’m lost and have to put it off. To write a scene with multiple characters and moving locations means a lot of background and stuff rolling around in your head to make it all work. Living on a sailboat in a marina with a boating community is always lively with many unexpected problems, people needing help, happy visitors and the ever present weather. Tides are always rising or falling twice a day. Now the trade winds are blowing from 3 to 15 miles per hour. Even moored, the boat is constantly moving, usually a sort of relaxing cradle. This is a commercial marina with many fishing enterprises and a fleet of large tenders, or ferries, that shuttle the thousands of cruise ship passengers to the tourist village at the Belize City port. Their large engines start warming up at 5 to 6am up to four mornings a week. Part of the facility is Old Belize which features a large museum, a very popular restaurant and a beach with a huge, filtered seawater pool. Busloads of cruse ship folks come to sun, swim and eat. Seems to be a lot of drinking as well. Local families and all the business and political men and women show up also. In the midst of all this, I am writing Knights of Sparrow, and I think, loving it! Blog City Prompt: Poet Dylan Thomas sees a clown in the moon and the clown says, “I think, that if I touched the earth, // It would crumble;” What do you see when you look at the moon? I write science-fiction, so the Moon has always been a point of interest. How old is the Moon? The first rock Neil Armstrong picked up after landing on the Sea of Tranquility turned out to be more than 3.6 billion years old. Other rocks turned out to be even older; 4.3, 4.5, 4.6, and one even alleged to be 5.3 billion years old! The oldest rocks found on earth are about 3.7 billion years old. Based on such evidence, some scientists have concluded that the moon was formed among the stars long before our sun was born. No wonder is looks so beat-up and old. Two Soviet scientists, have spent much of their careers examining the facts compiled on lunar phenomena. Their conclusion is that the Moon is artificial, possibly a hollowed-out planet, and that it was steered from some distant region of the galaxy into a circular orbit around our planet ( hence the extraordinary mystery of rock and Moon-dust age variations ). We have to acknowledge the circular orbit. And then there’s the idea that the Moon is apparently in its wrong orbit for its size. However, this would presumably be based on its assumed density. Technical reports claim a density of 3.3 for the Moon compared with 5.5 for Earth. Astronomy data indicates that the internal regions of the Moon are less dense than the outer. We might think that it might be hollow or honey-combed. So, the Moon is the wrong size and in the wrong orbit. It is too big and too far out. It does not rotate relative to Earth; the same side always faces the Earth. And what about the amazing 'coincidence' of the eclipse phenomenon. The position and size of the Moon is precisely what is necessary to eclipse the Sun's disc. What a perfect ‘accident.’ Did you know that the Moon "Rings" like a hollow sphere when a large object hits it? During the Apollo Moon missions, ascent stages of lunar modules as well as the spent third stages of rockets crashed on the hard surface of the moon. Each time, these caused the moon, according to NASA, to "ring like a gong or a bell." On one of the Apollo 12 flights, reverberations lasted from nearly an hour, and once as much as four hours. NASA doesn’t like to say that the moon may actually be hollow, but they can’t explain these strange facts." Eminent scientist Carl Sagan, a typical skeptic, made the statement, 'A natural satellite cannot be a hollow object'. But meaning here that if it is hollow, it is not a natural satellite, and therefore artificial. This is not to mention the effect of the tides, ideas about influence on our DNA, feminine cycles, UFO bases, mysterious lights, full moon wildness, and on, and on... Blog City Prompt: Some people feel an intense need to sit on the ground and run their fingers through the grass to feel connected with the earth. Have you ever compelled to do this yourself? Why was it important to you? Are there other ways to make a connection with earth? This should be one of the first chapters in the: OPERATION MANUAL FOR HUMAN BEINGS WHO LIVE ON THIS EARTH. This information is not widely taught because there is no profit in healthy people. The only benefit is to the person and their families. Because it is free, there is no corporate interest in promoting such a detrament to the bottom line. THIS IMPORTANT CHAPTER IS CALLED, GROUNDING First of all, what does “being grounded” mean? Most of us are not aware that the earth is mobilised with free anti-oxidant electrons. Those electrons pour into our body at the speed of light, the minute we touch the earth barefoot. Being grounded means being electrically connected to the earth. If you touch a tree, you are grounded, because the tree is a living wood, it has electrolytes and water in it and therefore it is conducting electricity and yes it can make you grounded. If you touch a metal pole that is stuck in the earth, you are grounded. The earth itself is negatively charged and the atmosphere around us is positively charged. Most of the conditions that we know of today, whatever that condition is, is associated with having an excess of positive charge in our body. What that really means is a lack of electrons. When we are disconnected from that natural negative charge then we are more subject to oxidation and we develop more inflammatory problems. By being insulated from the earth through the rubber soles of our shoes, what ends up happening is that we become more subject to free radical damage and we age faster. So what can we do to stop it? If we walk barefoot on sand, we’re instantly grounded. When someone goes to the beach and they lay out their towels and lie on the beach, they usually feel like falling asleep. This is because the grounding effect changes our respiration rate and immediately detoxifies us and normalizes our pH, making us relax. The effects of body pH’s by being grounded are substantial. If you are unaware what pH means, it is the acid/alkaline balance. Hyperacidity has been associated with a number of disorders and weakened immune systems. Hyperacidity IMPROVES, meaning alkalinity is restored once we begin to ground ourselves .The more that you can be connected, directly via the skin, to the earth, the longer you will live and the less inflammation you will suffer from. If we are in rubber soled shoes, and we’re on a cell phone, we are oxidizing ourselves and damaging ourselves with very high frequency EMF’s. But if we’re on our cell phone and we are barefoot, we are not completely protected, but we are DRAMATICALLY more protected. That’s important to understand. If you walk barefoot on the soil, if you walk barefoot in the rain, if you walk barefoot on the sand, walk barefoot through puddles etc., you are grounded. Some cement is grounded, but some isn’t, this is because of the polymers in new cement and that may be acting as an insulator, but in general, especially old cement is grounded. It is conducting energies through itself from the inner earth, up into you. Once again, these energies are free mobile anti-oxidant electrons that help your body resist oxidation, keeping you younger. It is believed that a huge body of our neurological disturbances are caused by being isolated from the earth’s EMF field, from being ungrounded and wearing rubber soles. And riding in automobiles with rubber tires, and living in insulated houses and apartments. Do you understand that there is a deep human instinct to go to the beach? Think about it. >>>There is another entire chapter about the difference between foods that are acidic and foods that promote the alkaline balance in your body and an immune system that actually prevents illness. (balanced PH) As a human, you are part of this Earth whether you like it or not. Isolate yourself and pay the price. Don’t expect some “paid expert” to educate you. Ann Bradstreet said, " if we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant." Would you agree with that statement? Do we need to have the unhappy side of something to fully experience its happier side? Why or Why Not? Spring is a fact of the climate of Earth. In Wyoming it comes late. My friends there are preparing for more snow this weekend. Maybe as far south a metro Denver. There were other Springs when the warmer weather started in May, and the snow plows came to open the roads. There were eight foot high banks on each side, but you could almost drive to the house! Once it started the melting happened fast, running in rivlets down the steep slopes. Under the snow, tiny wild flowers were pushing up and burst into full bloom as soon as the sun reached the dirt around them. It always was the best time of the year. If it’s a natural cycle, like birth, life, death---you’ll get Spring and maybe the darker side of life whether you want it or not. Happiness happens...enjoy it! In the tropics like Belize, there is no real change other from dry to wet to dry. Winter is some rain. Spring is some rain and summer is sometimes hurricanes with more rain. We haven’t had any bad storms the last few years. It seems they all move north toward Florida, the west coast and then on over to Britian. The trees in Belize know better. They loose leaves and break into fantastic blooms in the Spring. The palm and coconut trees just cycle along, always staying green, but shedding old leaves and growing new ones.
