April 19, 2020 at 7:13pm
I am tired of making face masks already. I suppose they need to be done, I just don't like to 'have' to make them. Poor me. Not really, I just like saying it. Truth is, my wife really needs the help and I jumped in and did what I could. Can, really. We are still making them. I do wish we didn't have to have them. I realized I hadn't written anything in my blog in a while and thought I should make some sort of effort to keep something in here that is recent. I watched th... [Read more]

So my wife started making face masks for family and friends and took a few orders to sell. Can't just give everything away since this is a way to make a living. Of course, masks are unusual. She normally makes doll clothes, see? She did donate several yards of fabric and 25 yards of elastic banding to some people making masks also. We had to get a bit creative by adding a 3" piece of 14-2 wire to bend around the nose. There is a piece of non-woven fabric meshed in between two knit fabric... [Read more]
Living your own life means helping others
March 16, 2020 at 5:12pm
Ever feel like you have lost a friend when people you have interacted with on WDC haven't been active in a really long time? I sometimes wonder if this makes us hesitate to make new friends, then, I think: NO WAY! Kindness belongs to anybody strong enough to give it. I arrived home from work today, Day 1 of no school because of the C. Virus, and had groceries to bring in after stopping at Walmart's Pickup service, which rocks, by the way! Did you know you could get 10 dollars for your... [Read more]
It is so hard to blog
March 12, 2020 at 8:12pm
Had my eyes dilated today. It is still hard to see, but my eyes are not any worse than they were a year ago. Yay! I recently purchased the 33 strategies of War. Just started and the author makes a great case for conflict, even outright war. Interesting. Not saying this is right, just so long as it is believable. It seems, it is desirable to have enemies. Maybe I am mistaken. Conflict builds character, after all! How can I blog without mentioning the coronavirus? People are buying up toil... [Read more]

February 23, 2020 at 10:30am
Three days after my last post, I was in a car accident. It was Halloween, and it was just starting to snow, when a truck crosses two lanes coming from the other direction and smashes into us nearly head on. Later, I found out this driver had been driving reckless which was witnessed by someone I work with before the accident even happened. I heard he did get a ticket for reckless driving. Anyway, my wife was stuck in the car for an our and a half and it took the jaws of life to get her out. I sw... [Read more]
Camp Songs
October 27, 2019 at 6:50pm
I took my boy to camp Sauble haunted prison last night. We stood in line for an hour and a half in the rain before we got to go inside. It was wonderfully done, if I may say so myself. Great show! It was a benefit fund raiser for the fire department and they had a great turn out. Bravo! One spot in the run where I didn't do so good was the light funnel that spun and made me so dizzy that I had to close my eyes to go through it. It was terrible! There was a lot of enthusiasm going on t... [Read more]

Okay, I just got back from Johnson's Giant Pumpkins LLC . What a cool place! I went there for the donuts. They make them onsite right in front of you. How cool is that? Of course, there is a lot to look at. And animals of all sorts there. We had a blast. But, for now, I am off to bed. I am tired, so tired...... [Read more]

Ever have a character that keeps surprising you? I was like, uhm, you weren't supposed to be the main character. Get back in you place. Stubborn and doesn't listen. I suppose if I had better control of my planning? Surprise! Pantser is what I am, I think. Some planning is required, of course, but I leave room for the unplanned. I recently bought this Tarot card program for the PS4 for five bucks. It does the same thing as a physical deck would without actually having to shuffle... [Read more]

September 27, 2019 at 7:22pm
Happy Birthday to me. It is better than any other holiday because it is all about me. How bad is that? I am not in dire need of presents or anything like that. No, I just like saying it is all about me. Truth is, I made my wife breakfast this morning. I served it so she wouldn't have to get up. It is funny because she would quickly admit that I am not a romantic. That's for the movies and such, as I see it, so of course, she is right. I am old enough to know that I don't ha... [Read more]

September 15, 2019 at 11:56am
Guess what? I had an owl looking in my window last night. It's been a while since I've seen an owl, it was really cool! I called my son out and he managed a couple of pictures of it. It was dark so it was hard to make out. It didn't look at all white, but when it opened up its wings to fly away, I swear the inside of its wings were white! Like I said, it was dark but I think that is what I saw. I swear! I finished watching 'The Martian' today for the second time. W... [Read more]

I went to Home Depot yesterday with an 'American Girl doll'. Yes, one of those dolls. I had some parachute chord left over from a chair re-stringing project I was volunteered for but I needed some crimp sleeves. I didn't know what they were called going in, but I did have an idea what I was looking for. Yep, once I got the parts, it wasn't too difficult to tear into the doll and put in new string. Now, the doll is tight! Limbs are staying together. Wonderful! Thanks to YouTu... [Read more]

Okay, it has been a while since I last blogged. I suppose September is a month I can do better in, right? So, here goes: I was listening to an audio book a few days ago, by Ellen Burke. She is also YouTuber with multiple uploads and a rather large audience. She has a great voice for audio and I probably never would have found her if all the other selections I had to choose from didn't look so bad (because they weren't science fiction or fantasy selections). Well, it so happens... [Read more]

Weather has been a lot like Spring of late. Weird, it usually goes Winter, then Summer, skipping Spring. I will take it. So, my boy finished the first segment of driver training and will be on the roads a lot more as soon as we get his paperwork in order. How cool is that? Another cool fact, my boy can sing! So very shy most times and he ups and does a talent show/ karaoke. Not just saying it, I have proof. Check it out: https://youtu.be/StLOR9yWfVg ... [Read more]
Happy Mother's Day, all! Mother or not.
May 11, 2019 at 8:27pm
Day before Mother's Day, I am tired. Got my wife some flowers, living flowers to point out that I do know she is awesome. I am unworthy, I know this. Still, she finds it in her heart to keep me. Yay! I had one of my boys help me pick up some wood that I chopped up. Some trees and branches that fell down some time ago from a storm and we picked them up. They weren't in the way, so I took my time. Well, truth is, there are a lot of trees down out there and I won't get them all p... [Read more]

May the fourth, today. The fourth is strong in this one! I went for a walk today. In the woods, I found a ring of life around and old tree stump that had rotted away a long time ago. I thought to myself, this could be where fairy rings came from! Old tree stumps gave new life to fairy kind! Maybe not, but Maybe So? I couldn't find Tinkerbell. I looked, just to be sure. Happy Easter, all!
April 21, 2019 at 4:56pm
Happy Easter! I just got back from a long day. I had to leave early so my youth could work at church breakfast charity so they could go on a trip out of state to a seminary college which is, I believe, in Arkansas. Then church, then the Mother-In-Law's house until Easter party at my wife's cousins house. Long day, but it wasn't so bad. A week ago, we had a small blizzard. Today, it is 71 degrees! Michigan weather. I opened my novel in progress yesterday and changed on... [Read more]

Autism. There are many shades of Autism. I am not an expert in this by any means, but I do deal with it every day. Things don't make any sense what so ever, but they must be done and in perfect order. Take, for example, the bedtime ritual: Two puffs of breathing treatment, one puff of nasal spray in each nostril, brush the teeth, and put jammies on right after going potty. Someone must feed the indoor and outdoor cats and do the litter. I have to get a drink of water. Two prayers are... [Read more]
Writing myself to an early grave, but not.
April 7, 2019 at 3:20pm
Okay, I am bad at this. But, I mean to be better, so here I write. The snow is nearly gone and I've begun to clean up a bit outside. There are oak leaves everywhere! Interesting fact about the oak trees that I have is that half the leaves fall in Fall and the other half in Spring when the new leaves come in. So, a clean up either way. I bought a small wagon to pull behind my ATV 450 HO and it works great! Before, I raked the leaves up onto a tarp and hauled them by hand. I really cou... [Read more]

And then, I began to write. The servants were in their quarters during the late 17th century until the early 20th century. Well, not the same servants, but those are the years the practice of having servants' quarters in big houses. Yes, I just looked that up. This is important: I received my first cup of coffee at a senior discount today! I am not yet a senior, but okay! Awesome! I sat in a House of Flavors today and noticed an old picture on the wall. There was a couple of ladies, though my wife thought one of the ladies was a fellow, in the picture, so I had to ask the waitress about it. Called into work today. The weather is terrible outside and everything else seems to be closed today because of the storm. January 18, 2019 at 7:10pm
A character in a book I was listening to stated that religion was the thing that kept the poor from murdering the rich. (Jeff Wheeler) This struck me as funny and of character building quality. Just wanted to make a note of this. Security has been tight of late due to an active shooter comment someone had made at my shop, and, of course, they were fired for. People can do such stupid things at times. I wonder if hindsight can ever be found in a bottle? No, is the answer. I looked there... [Read more]

I was standing in line behind a little old lady who looked prim and proper. In front of her stood a younger man who didn't look like good people with his ragged clothes and he looked like a druggy in my mind. The smell of pot was quite strong. Oh, ya, it's legal now here in Michigan. The young man checked out, but guess what? The pot smell didn't go away. It was the old lady! I kicked myself for being judgy. It was funny, though. Making Way
January 12, 2019 at 10:14am
Got up, made breakfast, struggled to write something. I found myself thinking about that darkness that crazy writers sometimes write about. This darkness can bring to life a contrast that makes the heart beat faster. That sense of being alive comes when threatened, why is that?? I don't get depressed easily. The memory of words from parents I pretended to ignore pulls me quickly from most any depression. Talking to my own teenager about suicide, underpants, drugs and soil, SUDS, if y... [Read more]

Quick story idea for a 48 hour challenge. This is not perfect but comments are welcome! Here it is: Jackie sat on the edge of her bed, crying. Her eyes burned and her vision blurred. Though the room was well lit, darkness seemed to hang in the room. She could sense this darkness as if something unclean snuck in and filled every crack and crevice within her room with its evil and it changed her. It wasn’t just a kiss, it was an unwanted kiss, and her lips burned because of it. H... [Read more]

Monday, I had a meeting with my boy's teachers and aids, professionals etc. We talked of the future of my boy moving on to the middle school or ESD services. We checked out the class at the middle school and it was definitely too advanced for him. The ESD was a step back, being that there weren't any communicating kids in the class. Even the professionals said he didn't fit in either class. However, do to the safety issues my boy had, the ESD was the only real choice. I guess if... [Read more]

I was listening to NPR this morning on the way back from the hospital where I did some routine blood work and they were talking about how important atmosphere was for the sense of taste. One chef wouldn't serve food until the atmosphere was noticeably happy, so to speak. They set up the diners with a glass that made mooing sounds and was cued in that it was time to serve dinner once most of the tables began playing with the cups and the attitude was jolly. Atmosphere lends more to the sens... [Read more]

Today in church, the substitute pastor mentioned that in todays time, many use the miracles of old as a reason not to believe. Personally, I think people will find reasons to either believe, or dis-believe as it suits them. Often, the beliefs of those nearby can sway ones opinion. Personally, I think the minds beliefs and the bodies beliefs don't match.
