July 22, 2015 I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done. I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them. I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC. |
| Prompt: pathological liars Have you ever met a pathological liar? How do you think a pathological liars talk with other people? And could they have any good friendships that last?   Yes. The one I know will lie about anything to anyone, even friends. They enjoy lying and seem to like fooling people with lies. It is narcissistic behavior. They can get angry if you don't believe them. And seem surprised when someone corrects their lies. Refusing to accept the truth about something they lie about. Pathological liars are also very nice to their victims as long as the victim believes their lies. Prompt about Crafts: This prompt was also marked for May 23. Maybe it was meant for May. 24. I do different kinds of crafts. I'm pretty good at crochet. I used a pattern to make a Stetson (summer 2022) to wear when I'm out on walks with the dogs. I have done some beading for Christmas ornaments. I sew some of my own clothing and made a few dog beds as a specialty item for my dogs. 2022 I made my dogs winter coats. Other dogs I have sewed coats for are already moved on to heaven. Also, I have been a dog groomer for years and know lots of different patterns for different breeds of dogs. When my daughter was young, I made cabbage patch dolls. I could not afford the ones in the stores but was able to find a pattern for them. Years ago, when I was going to church and was in charge of a youth program, I made large arm puppets for a show the youth program put on for the congregation. My whole family was involved in designing and building wooden crosses with leather necklaces for sale in the store where the church camp was located. They were very popular in the area at the time. Most of the time I just see something I want to make before I get involved in any crafty projects. I read more than I craft now. |
| Day 3746: May 24, 2023 Prompt: What is your favorite snack? Why do you like it?  Unfortunately, I'm a snack hungry girl. I like all kinds of snacks. Cookies, especially the ones I make myself because I use less sugar in the recipes. I like peanut butter cookies the best. Or, off the grocery store shelves, fig bars with a piece of cheese. My dad used to eat these, so I learned the habit from him. Many different kinds of nuts. I probably eat a pound of peanuts a month. I guess my favorite is potato chips, served with cottage cheese or dip. I try to curb my intake of these. Not only are they expensive they feed my craving for salt. I did not eat a lot when I was younger. I guess the thing I should never have learned to do is eat more. Now I try to eat less. |
Prompt word to use: Peacock feathers, forest, dinner, bridge, and rope. A part of my pet family includes a Cockatoo: Although peacock feathers are beautiful I don't have any. Cockatoo feathers help bridge the gap between forest birds and caged birds. Cockatoos shed feathers regularly by the day or week. They have a special powder on them that stops vermin from attacking the bird. I put my cockatoo's shed feathers outside, which the wild birds incorporate into their nests. There is a rope in my bird's cage which it uses to ring a bell to get my attention. Now it is dinner time. Hope your day is just right. Bye. |
 Laundry: Prompt: What do you think about doing laundry in general? Did you have any unusual experiences with it? And what do you think the idiom "airing one's dirty laundry" came from? In general, doing laundry is not difficult in the present century. I'm using Earth Breeze. I like the way it cleans our clothes. It's also helping alleviate the recycle problem. I'm happy to recommend it to others. I looked up "airing the dirty laundry," It is a French proverb used by Napoleon when he returned from exile in Elba in 1815. It was normal at the time to hang out laundry to dry in the fresh air and sunshine. Hanging out dirty laundry would not have been a normal situation. The use means to tell things that are personal secrets which should probably be kept private. In todays' world. Often people don't want to be drawn into controversy's which are alive in other people's families. Nevertheless, sometimes secrets should be revealed in order to stop abusive actions from one person to another. I think it is a good thing that organizations have sprung up to give women and children shelter when it is needed. If someone in a family is revealing secrets, it is necessary to get both sides of a story. Unless you are willing to do face to face confrontations that is not an easy thing to do. Good judgment is a cultivated crop. |
Not a dream a plan:  Every year I learn or relearn something. When I relearn something, it is usually to upgrade my knowledge about a subject I am already familiar with, like the year people started giving worming medicines to their horses instead of calling the Veterinarian to do it. Our minds never totally let go of the knowledge we learn. But when new knowledge becomes available on any subject, we need to upgrade just like a computer upgrade of windows or other tech. I used to play classical guitar. This year I am upgrading my playing abilities with knowledge of musical theory for guitar. I took a course in etss (ear training and sight singing) where we learned theory as it pertains to piano about 25 years ago. I also took courses in human biology a couple times during my lifetime so I'm going back to studying human biology this year. I have a restless mind I need to keep it actively learning. I'm actively seeking recommendations about books read about human aging. Let me know if you have read one. |

Maybe I should. If I did: I realize you want to include the venue as the Banana Bar, so I arranged for an alien ship to pick up the Banana Bar and set it down in our front yard. Just for the party. Then the aliens promised to set it back in its proper spot after everyone goes home. We live in the country so no one but the bears, deer and such will notice. Hmm. Maybe the neighbors will notice. They watch us a lot. First: we should get the Basement Guy out of the basement. So, the party would start about 5 o'clock p.m. Second: I would have it outside in our yard. Lots of space there. It would be a scavenger hunt. Third: We would have a scene like a figure 8: Two circles of chairs with food tables setup between the circles. Food tables would be laden with salads, casseroles, breads, condiments, desserts, whatever we can round up or guests would like to contribute. A setup for cooking burgers, hot dogs, and vegetables will be cooking on the grill. Guests would be handed the first search for the scavenger hunt as they arrive. They can hunt or just visit, gab, and eat. Children and pets and monkeys all are welcome. You have to keep them under control. If I can find a band with a guitarist for background music I will. The scavenger hunt will not send everyone to the same spot to begin. Some of the things to find will be small prizes: pens, writing pads, fancy bookmarks, candy bars, whatever I can think to provide. Each beginning clue will provide a list of clues. If you find objects not on your list leave them for someone else's list. We have a lot of space so it could take a while to follow the clues. I will keep it on this side of the pond, so no one gets wet. Any small prize wrapped in paper and marked surprise is to be given to the Basement Guy. Come to the party, Hunt, sit and gab, eat and be merry. If I can find the right band maybe, they will take requests and we can have sing along. Maybe if the Basement Guy is not too shy, we can get him to make a speech and tell us why he is always in the basement. And more about the mysteries of the basement. Guests should bring their own stories about basement adventures, that is if you actually ever went down there. Suggestions for more ideas for this party are welcome. All word count on WDC: 350 |

Not necessarily when he is needed. The basement guy reads the Blogging Bliss Newsletter first. By example reading other bloggers blogs is important. The lists in the Blogging Bliss Newsletter are especially entertaining. Basement Guy: 1. | P4. Today's Prompt: What's behind the door behind the bar? See the thing about the door behind the bar is; if you go through it, you never know where you will end up. Sometimes it takes you directly to the basement. The first time I went through it I was following a troupe of visiting monkeys. I ended up in Monkey Land. Today I thought, well I'll just take my book down and sit quietly in the comfy chair upholstered in a riotous flower pattern and drink a cup of oat stem tea, while I read for a while. I'm right in the middle of "Tastes Like War" a memoir by Grace M. Cho. One of her quotes really charged me to read on; to find out what happened to her in her life--"How many times had women who told the truth been muzzled with the label of madness?" The thing about today is when I walked through the door Red the Orangutang was standing there. Wordsmitthy says, Red is Andre's 4th cousin 6 times removed, family. Also, I felt kind of woozy because of the expanse of open country before me. Red was holding on to a two-seater bicycle he motioned me to take a seat. What could I do? I have to say I was quite hesitant but after all a bike ride? I can ride a bike. It can't be all that bad except Red the orangutang was in the front seat driving. Red is actually wider than me. I tried to lean a little to the right to look around him to see where we were. eek! Warning watch this at your own risk. Anyone with a heart condition should be exceptionally cautious. | Which kinds of relationships --family, friendship, love/romance, etc.-- lift you up and not drag you down? What does this depend on, the people, the circumstances, or you yourself? I have some family I see once in a while that are good to be with and some friendships (online) that I can count on. Lifting up usually depends on myself and my attitude. If I meet up with a circumstance that is not to my liking, I tell the Lord. And I try to stay in my own skin if others are trying to get me to live their way. My way isn't bad. Around here it is sometimes different from local customs. I believe no one is old, everyone is aging. Not everyone is senile.  This is kind of general, hope it meets the criteria of an answer? ![Merit Badge in Friendship
