O'siyo Oginalii Tsilugi - Hello friends - Welcome - to My first blog. A place to share.
Dream Catcher
Dream Catchers

An ancient Chippewa tradition
The dream net has been made
For many generations
Where spirit dreams have played.

Hung above the cradle board,
Or in the lodge up high,
The dream net catches bad dreams,
While the good dreams slip on by.

Bad dreams become entangled
Among the sinew thread.
Good dreams slip through the center hole,
While you dream upon your bed.

This is an ancient legend,
Since dreams will never cease,
Hang this dream net above your bed,
Dream on, an be at peace.

"Old memories are very easy to get, except that once you write about something, you've destroyed it. You no longer have the memory. You only have the memory of what you've written"- Annie Dillard.
Do you agree or disagree? Does this change how you think about using your memories as writing material?

What a fantastic prompt.

I have to say that I both agree and disagree. I written a small amounts of my years that I was blessed with my late husband, Barry. Those memories still burn deep within, and I was glad to share. They were extraordinary with an extra ordinary man. I have not let lose of others because they are quite personal. We had our good times as well as out bad, just like everyone else.

At times I will tend to unlock one or two just to helps me to relive it again. It lets me remember how I felt, what I smelled, saw, and the pain that I felt.

April 25, is almost here. That was the day the Doctor's told me that there nothing more they could do for him, and I had to terminate his life support system.—but I will never forget the times we had together, whether or not I choose write about them.

Sometimes I think it helps, to keep my memories—forever.

BCOF: Tell us about a place you pass by every day, ...does it make you happy or sad?

There is a place that pass by, however it is not everyday. It is a corner that I turn on to go to Office Max or Walmart. On the corner, is always some man. He is shabbily dressed, unshaven, thin, and holding a sign that says,Will work for food. Happy or sad would define what I feel—but guilty would.

I am afraid to stop because I have absolutely no clue as to who he is or what type of person he is, yet at the same time I wish I could do something.

Yay! a sunny, clear, warm day has finally come along. I agree with your opinions, 100 percent! I feel if everything stopped cold turkey, this is where we would be: *Laugh*

prompt: in todays world there is alot of pain, and loss. there is , in my mind, a big need for it because it teaches us to value all that we have( that is my opinion). but what if all the fighting and dishonesty stopped, cold turkey? write me a poem, rant, story, heck even a drinking song( if you can) about it.

"Pontoon" (My favorite song by The Little Big Town)

Back this hitch up into the water
Untie all the cables and rope
Step onto the astro turf
Get yourself a coozie
Let's go

Who said anything about skiin'?
Floatin' is all I wanna do
You can climb the ladder
Just don't rock the boat while I barbeque

[Chorus:]
On the pontoon
Makin' waves and catchin' rays up on the roof
Jumpin' out the back, don't act like you don't want to
Party in slow motion
Out here in the open
Mmmmmmm...motorboatin'

(Hoo hoo hoo)

Reach your hand down into the cooler
Don't drink it if the mountains aren't blue
Try to keep it steady as you recline on your black inner tube

[Chorus:]
Pontoon
Makin' waves and catchin' rays up on the roof
Jumpin' out the back, don't act like you don't want to
Party in slow motion
Out here in the open
Mmmmmm...motorboatin'

(Hoo hoo hoo)
(Hoo hoo hoo)

[Bridge:]
5 mile an hour with aluminum side
Wood panelin' with a water slide
Can't beat the heat, so let's take a ride

[Chorus:]
On the pontoon
Makin' waves and catchin' rays up on the roof
Jumpin' out the back, don't act like you don't want to
Party in slow motion
I'm out here in the open
Mmmmmmm...motorboatin'

On the pontoon

(Hoo hoo hoo)

On the pontoon

(Hoo hoo hoo)

Back this hitch out into the water
On the pontoon

(Hoo hoo hoo)

(Hoo hoo hoo)

Do you ever look up information about celebrities? Do you believe their lives are really that entertaining or is what we read the work of a good publicist to promote them? I've included a link of some examples.

Have you ever fantasized about being a celebrity yourself?

Who Me??? A celebrity? Na I am lucky to survive as me. They may have money, fame, and all that stuff—but they are not exempt from everyday human life. They have their ups and downs, their good points and downfalls—just like me. Theirs, however, are highly publicized. I'll just stay where I am at and write. *Smile*

Well, today has been one of those days. You know the kind, the kind that not much of anything comes to mind but sleep. The Spring-Summer-Winter, Winter-Spring-Summer days are taking it's toll. Friday was beautiful, rained Saturday, and last night we had thunder, lightening and rain. Cloudy today, so I expect more rain tonight.

I had hoped to go outside (I love the Sun) to read and study more for my outline—but that didn't happen. Instead, I worked on some of it inside.
I am hoping the weather and my mood improves tomorrow.

The hen house had been very busy that week, preparing for the upcoming day of Easter. Henrietta, the head hen, made sure all the nests were in proper order. The Master would be in anytime to deliver his usual encouragement.
Suddenly, Henrietta jerked her head up and gave out a loud cackle, "Places everyone quick, here he comes!" Scurrying to their nests, silence quickly fell over the hen house as the heavy footsteps stopped inside the door.
"OK, you gals, it's that time of the year, either you produce or you'll find yourself in the pot!"

For a week these little hens worked very hard and by the eve of Easter had reached their quota. The Master returned and found them hanging over their piles of eggs; each measuring three feet high. Exhausted, they laid there with their wings drooping to their sides and their little red tongues extending out of the corners of their beaks.
Taking out his cell phone, he placed it to his ear and called his marketing partner, Peter.

OK PETER TAKE IT AWAY

Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin' down the bunny trail
Hippity hoppin', Easter's on its way

Bringing every girl and boy
Baskets full of Easter joy
Things to make your Easter bright and gay

He's got jelly beans for Tommy
colored eggs for sister Sue
There's an orchid for your mommy
And an Easter bonnet too

Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin' down the bunny trail
Hippity Hoppin', HAPPY EASTER DAY

DAY 1239: April 6, 2016
Prompt: "Your sacred space is where you can find yourself again and again." Joseph Campbell Where is your sacred space?

My Sacred Space
{/c

My sacred space is my bedroom. Though I live with five little guys, well I should say four little guys and one little gal, they are all terrier-mix, rescued dogs. It is a quiet place where I can think, read, give birth to characters, write (invent), watch t.v., and just relive my memories. *Smile* Believe me when I say, my little guys know how sacred it is me they won't let anyone in.*Laugh*

Prompt: Funny hat, crazy shoes, weird handbag, frizzy hair, Thick, black rimmed glasses—I'm so ready for this interview! Write a story or a poem about this interview.

Sprawled out on the couch with a bowel of popcorn, she picked her cell phone. Through a muffled yawn, she put it to her ear.

"Hello?'
"Yes, Miss Stevens, this is Mr. Anderson at the Federal Building, and I am calling to schedule an appointment for the public secretary job that you applied for. Can you come in at ten this morning?
"Oh! yes sir, I'll be there!"

She was so excited and could hardly wait. Rushing through a shower, she applied her black eye and lipstick make-up, pulled on her multi-colored, bleached spotted jean skirt, and her fringed covered tan blouse. Taking one last glance in the mirror, she pulled up the sides of her long frizzy black hair with purple and green streaks up and dawned her hat. She had to repositioned it so the drooping flower was in the back. She grabbed her purse, shaped like saddle bags, threw them over shoulder and left. I am so ready for this interview.

Standing in front of the doors of the Federal Building, she drew a deep breath before she pulled open the front door. The halls grew quiet and the large crowd of people parted as she passed through them. The hall remained quiet. How sweet, they knew I was coming. The only sound she heard was the thump of the thick heels of her orange shoes decked out with pink pom-poms.

Mr. Anderson's office was on the third floor. She paused before she knocked on the door.
"Come in."
She entered. She heard him choke.
Stepping back and nearly tipping over his chair, he gasped.
"Who...Who... are you?
"Sir, I'm Ms. Stevens, and you called this morning for an interview?"
"AH, yes...please sit down and get this over withah I mean get started."
After five minutes, he stood and extended his hand.
"I'll have my secretary give you a call—good day Ms. Stevens."
Before she could stand and leave, he choked his way through the side office door.

BCOF :A Theme is bit more relaxed, giving the writer control over what words are used as long as the story or poem stays in the overall context of the writing prompt. The words themselves don’t have to be included in the writing if the author so wishes as long as the theme of the story or poem
… write a short story or poem using the theme of... Magic lost…

Susie's little wings dropped,
and her tears fell like rain.
She couldn't find her magic stone,

She bowed her head and her shoulders drooped.
Then she saw a light,
Her magic stone was insight.

The little Fay spread her wings,
She flew up and all around,
Keeping up with the birds
as they all played and sang.

See, little Susie keep your faith,
Your magic stone was not lost.

Just a comment:

I keep seeing a commercial on t.v. by Sea World trying to defend their position. I personally think they are wrong. They freed Keiko, you all remember him right? He stared in Free Willey and Free Willey 2. He died. I really don't know which is worse.
I feel that if animals, mammals, are taken in to prevent extinction, that should be the main goal. I also feel that strict laws should be placed and enforced against poaching.

They started the program and should carry through with it.

I apologize, I just had to vent.

Hi all, and lyn that makes both of us. *Laugh* In response:

oops, I am sorry... I fell asleep... share with us an activity you are doing this month.

Well, I am trying to finish up my story for "Reeling in the Readers" class; I have been tied up with politics this month. Still. I don't know what to think. It has been colorful. entertaining, and comical. I think that I have laughed more than not. I guess that I need to make up my mind when it comes my turn to vote here in California whether or not it will make much difference. Enough on that.

I also want to start a writing group here on WDC in which the purpose would be writers to help and encourage other writers. That is in the works.

I am also looking forward to be able to participate in contributing to putting out Blog topics.

“I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” - Albert Einstein As a writer, poet, or artist what do you have to say about this statement.
This is a statement of interest. In addition to this, I believe that imagination comes from the depth of the soul. It is not just something you think, but something you feel. One not only feels it but hears it, tastes it, sees it, and smells it.

Hi everyone, I know that I have been absent. I am just trying to ride out this time. I have been filling my time with writing stories for my granddaughter. She asks me everyday for one. Currently I am working on Michael and The Marshmallow Squad. It makes me happy and takes up my day, I didn't see a prompt for tonight, so I thought I would drop in and say hi.

Today's prompt: Have I ever been on T.V.? If not how would I do?

Yes, 20 years ago. I was looking for a run-away child. Today? Without plastic surgery and a body over haul,
I wouldn't be caught dead. *Laugh*
