Hi Everybody

As a result of the winter storm that hit our area I have been off-line for the past few days. I wanted everybody to know that I have not been ignoring your posts. I had no Internet connection.

Just an image Prompt: If Eternity with Jesus is the Lord's chosen position for every Christian, then is failure actually an option for any part of His Bride? We may grieve over things we have been unable to accomplish in this life, but if Eternity is eternal, then is it possible for any of us to fail to do what the Lord has Sovereignly-chosen for our talents to accomplish?

I don't think it is possible to fail at anything God has for us to do. We may fall short but God never falls short. He always accomplishes His will. The only way we fall short is sin. I think God knows what sins we will commit and plans around them. After all, He knows the future.

Apocrypha  (E)
We've turned our backs on the secrets of universe... but they await our return.
#1575418 by 🌕 HuntersMoon

Write about this in your Blog entry today.

The Apocrypha I am familiar with are the deutero-canonical books in the Catholic Bible. While I understand that the primary reason these books were not included in the canon accepted by most Protestant churches, I do find them to be fascinating. The secrets of the universe however are contained in the sixty-six books of the canon. I need nothing more.

Just an image Jeremiah 2:31 says "And you, O genneration, behold the word of the Lord. Have I been a wilderness to Israel, or a land of thick darkness? Why then do my people say "We are free, we will come and go no more."

Explain this passage.

I think God is telling Israel, and thus us, that He is still sovereign. He is God. He has not hidden anything from us. He has said that if we do action A will get result B. If we do action C we will get result D. He has not hidden anything and he has not changed. All too often people think God changes His attitudes just because we change ours. God is not politically correct. What He wrote thousands of years ago still applies today. We need to wake up.

 Sad moments about valentine  (E)
Cupid don't touch singles
#2244294 by Z.shams

Write about Valentines Day.

Cupid doesn't touch anybody because Cupid doesn't exist. He's an idol. However love touches everybody. Love is not this feel good feeling we get when we are around somebody. That is an endorphin rush and exposure to them over time will make that go away as the brain grows accustomed to getting that same rush from them. Love on the other hand is a commitment yo do the next right thing for the next right reason. It is an action word.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: Use the following words in your blog entry: splinter, wind, love, crystal, celebrate, happy, and wish."

I got a splinter under my nail. I could not see to dig it out because the wind kept blowing snow in my face. The crystal flakes blinded me. I finally did celebrate success however and what a relief it was. I was very happy with the relief. I wish the soreness would go away.

Blog City image small "Prompt: Robert Fulghum says, “We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.”

What do you think? In your opinion, is mutual weirdness love?"

I think so. We usually fall in love with people who share our interests. It makes no difference how weird those interests are. For example, a lot of the writers here on WDC are into "shrinking/growth fetishes. personally I don't see it but they love it and they are attracted to one another. To each his own.

Just an image Today I am going to go back to Proverbs for a bit. Explain Proverbs 14:14.

The Proverb says that the perverse get what their ways deserve. We have to ask what the ways of the perverse deserve. Many of the things we as Christians do are also perverse so what do we deserve? I pray the perverse never get what they deserve. Their ways deserve hell. However I pray nobody goes to hell. I even pray that God is merciful to Satan and the fallen angels. It is a shame for anybody to go to hell. So I pray the perverse do not get what their ways deserve. However the reality is that the perverse will get what they deserve if they do not repent and what they deserve is punishment.

The proverb goes on to say that the good will receive what their deeds deserve, which means that the good will receive good. The good will be rewarded.

Do you believe in "little green men" "gremlins", or the "bogeyman?"

I use to believe in the bogeyman but I have found that all of these "little green men", "bogeyman" and "gremlin", all end up having very reasonable explanation. I used to be very superstitious and believe in godd and bad luck, genies, witches, all of that. I still believe in witchcraft and the power of the mind, but not in gremlins, etc.

Just an image Prompt: "What are you praying for?"

My prayers usually consist of prayers of praise and thank you as opposed to prayers of request. I feel God already knows my needs and does not need me to continually pester Him about them. In fact, God knows my needs much better than I do. So instead of going to Him with a long list of requests and "honey-dos", I approach Him with thanksgiving and praise. The only time I make any requests to God is on Sunday morning when I am getting ready to preach. Then I ask His help in surrendering myself completely to Holy Spirit and to use my mouth to get His message across. I seldom pray about a physical need for I know He has already saw the need and is meeting it in His way and His time.

she writes about a subject that is near and dear to my heart: Jesus!

Read this poem and give some feedback.

I love the way she took each line of John 3:16 and explained it in poetic format. Another form of expressing John 3:16 I have become impressed with was an acrostic I saw on social media that used letters in certain words to spell out "Valentine." Since Jesus is the ultimate expression of love this seems appropriate to me.

Image #2235060 over display limit. -?- Mark 5:29-34 tells us the story of a woman who had an irregularity ion her menstrual cycle whom Jesus healed. What is significant about the fact that she touched Him besides the faith it took to do so?

There is a lot more to this story than meets the eye. The woman in the story was not only expressing her faith that Jesus could heal her. She was literally risking her life by even going out into public. You see under Mosaic law, which applied at that time, the woman was "unclean". She was having a menstrual cycle, albeit an unnatural one. Leviticus 15:19 makes it clear that the woman was considered "unclean" and anyone who touched her was also considered unclean. Thus Jesus was considered unclean under Jewish law. By all rights the woman was not supposed to be in public or if she was she was suppose to announce that she was unclean and not allow anybody to touch her. Touching Jesus in her "impure" state could have gotten her stoned. However,, Jesus did not stone her. Instead, he loved on her and healed her. I know the woman went on to believe from that day forward. She took a great chance because her faith told her Jesus would not condemn her.

Does faith play a role in your life? If so, tell us about it. If not, why?

Theresa expresses great faith in this poem. She expresses the need to pray and be close to God. It is very important that believers stay close to God. Like a gazelle, we are always being stalked. Satan and his minions are on the prowl and looking to consume us. The only way we avoid that is to stay close to the herd. We do that by prayer, and by staying in God's word.

I am getting ready to have a Bible study with some of the guys here in the home so I am sending the prompt before hand. I would forget later. Why is Bible study important? How often do you study with others?

I think it is of the utmost importance to be in God's word on a daily basis. Just as church recharges our batteries so to speak, Bible study also recharges our batteries. What a lot of Christians fail to understand is that we are at war. The Kingdom of heaven has been at a state of war with the kingdom of darkness for thousands of years. Our enemy, the devil and his forces are still alive and prowling around (1 Peter 5:8). It is not a matter of if the enemy is going to attack or will the enemy attack? It is a matter of when the enemy attacks! He is going to attack. He is waiting for that moment of weakness to attack. He is a very skilled warrior. He watches us day and night, always crouched and always ready to pounce. He will not attack the strong. He attacks those who are young, weak, old, or sick. He attacks the stragglers. The herd is well protected. The herd uses the armor of fellowship to protect itself because the enemy will not attack a group. The herd practices combat on a daily basis. They eat together and sleep together. Believers are the herd. If we study God's word together we strengthen each other. No soldier ever goes into combat unless they drill, drill, and drill. They get to know their weapon intimately. They practice and practice and practice with it. The word of God is our weapon. If we only hear it once or twice a week we are going to fall to the enemy. If we practice with the word every day and pray every day and connect with the herd every day we will thrive and the enemy will not attack us. I am the Sunday school teacher at my church. I prepare the lesson for the following week most Sunday afternoon's and email it to dozens of people. If you want to receive it let me know. With God's word you can never study too much.

Select a poem from this book and write about it for today's prompt. Enjoy.

I don't have much time for reading in depth. I am a student and have half a dozen other irons in the fire at all times. I did however read the poem Break in the Weather from this book. The poem is a metaphor for the hard times that happen in all our lives, particularly our personal relationships. It expresses that hard times will come as a rain falls in every life. It is our responsibility as people to repair the damage and move on.

I use to live in Parkersburg WV and every fall the red-breasted robin from that area would fly south. Apparently, they do not fly too far south because I moved 90 minutes south of Parkersburg and they are here year round. In Parkersburg their return was my first indication of warmer weather. here my first indication is what my mom always called "Easter Lilies," which aren't up yet.

"Invalid Entry "Prompt: Write about culture for today's Blog entry."

Wow! That is a broad subject and one which I am not really sure I can say much. I need a little more clarification. I know culture can be a delicate subject. For example, I had a professor once who talked about the differences in language where she was from and the area she move to. Somebody in this area had said "pert'near" which around here means "close or near". She had no idea the man was saying "pretty near' had it. Another example of culture is that around here we don't drink soda. Soda is something you use as a base or leavening. Around here we drink "pop".

Today is a very special day for me. I quit using mind-altering substance such as alcohol and other drugs 12 years ago today. I was a mess. I took enough of my drug of choice, which was over-the-counter Benadryl to kill a horse. Most people go to sleep on 50mg of the stuff. I was taking 3500mg at a time and barely getting high. I was desperate and suicidal. I surrendered and went to treatment and started a 12-step program. I worked those steps and developed faith in God whom I know as Jesus. I am not preaching that anyone should become Christian though Jesus demands that. I am saying that if you have an addiction faith in something is your answer. I now have twelve years clean. If I can do it, anybody can!

Image #2235060 over display limit. -?- Prompt: "We all have a Bible verse that we like more than any other. Besides John 3:16 which is everybody's favorite, what is your favorite Bible verse and why?"

I have several Bible verses that are my favorites. I guess that if I had to choose an absolute favorite it would be Philippians 4:13 which says that I can do anything in the power of Jesus. I have found this to be so true. 12 years ago yesterday I was higher than a kite on whatever substance I had gotten hold of that day. I was overdosed which I had done thousands of times previously. On this day however, I was confronted by my preacher about a situation that led me to realize I was truly an addict. I entered treatment on February 9, 2009 and have not used since. At first I wanted nothing to do with Jesus. I prayed to some generic idol but I knew in my heart that I was praying to and believing in Jesus. The 12-step program taught me how to behave myself and taught me the basics of faith. They did not preach Jesus. They simply said "Higher Power" which meant something outside of myself. Over time I learned to trust that and this eventually led me to a strong faith in Christ. Prior to that I practiced religion regularly but always fell away because I failed to have an intimate relationship with the Spirit that I claimed to believe in. I claimed Him and wanted to live for Him but failed to surrender myself fully to Him. The 12-step program taught me to depend on Him and fully trust Him by eliminating the resentments against Him and the world that consumed me. It is very hard to have a working relationship with a God that you are angry with and I was full of resentment and mistrust for God. The 12-step program helped me eliminate those resentments and begin to build that relationship. Looking back on it now I can see the Holy Spirit at work teaching me slowly through the 12-step program. He gave me the courage to face each step and to work it with all my heart. Through Him I faced having my late wife's life-support discontinued and letting her die. I faced a heart attack and open-heart surgery, and yes, the painkilling opioids that came with surgery; the loneliness of living in isolation for nearly a year, and many other struggles without recidivism to addiction. As Php 4:13 says "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."

I am a preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is my responsibility and my privilege to tell others about Jesus. I want anybody struggling with addiction to know however that it is not necessary to become a preacher to stay clean. What is necessary is fully realizing you have a problem by not making excuses for it and seeing it as the ugly, destructive beast it is. Then it is necessary to develop a faith-based relationship with something bigger than yourself. I hope that something is Jesus.

 Dandelion  (E)
Flash Fiction
#2118590 by Jacky
by Jacky . Write about this item in your Blog entry today.

I have to admit that when I first began to read this entry I wasn't sure what to make of it, but the author did an excellent job of capturing my attention. As a professional writer I know from experience that an editor who previews a book for publication gives an author about three lines to capture their attention and make them want to read the rest of the manuscript. If the first thirty seconds do not capture the publisher's attention the publisher or agent knows the book has no chance with the consumer so they toss it in the waste bin. Jacky caught my attention very quickly and made me wonder if the story was going to be a fantasy, a dream, or even an hallucination. I felt compelled to read more and find out what was causing the dandelion to move. The hook was absolutely effective, which kept me reading to the very end.

I agree with the author, ants are incredible creatures. I seen a piece of bread moving once. It was a rather large piece of bread and it caught my attention because it was moving. I examined it to find a tiny black ant, about 100 times smaller than the piece of bread, man-handling it back to its nest. I had the utmost respect for the ant because the piece of bread or whatever was massive in comparison to the ant. I sat there twenty minutes watching the ant struggle until it disappeared into a hole. I wanted so badly to help the poor thing out but knew doing so would either hurt it or frighten it away so I just watched. They are fascinating, hard-working creatures.

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- Prompt: Your first experience at a concert

Lyn's a sly fox I don't know if I can truthfully answer this prompt or not. I have attended a lot of shows and concerts in my lifetime, many of which I spent in a blackout and do not remember. I remember making plans to attend a concert of REO Speedwagon back in the early 80's but do not recall attending it. My details are a little sketchy because it was about 30 years ago but the first concert I do recall attending was a concert of country singer Kitty Welles at the high school I attended as a child. Billy Joe Royal is part of her entourage, her son I believe. He was doing a concert in town later that same summer. My wife at the time encouraged me to show Kitty a song lyric I had written a few months earlier. Back then I carried my writing with me everywhere including to shows. I showed it to Kitty and she loved it. She called a man over that I had never seen before and told him to read it. That man was Billy Joe Royal. He read the lyric and asked if he could purchase rights to record it? I was flabbergasted! He later sent me a contract and the song went to number 50 or so on the pop charts. I made a little money on it and got to say that I recorded a record.

Image #1971183 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Have you ever found yourself in a fight for being who you are? Why do you think other people or the current norms mess around so much with our being who we are?"

I find myself in such battles all the time, particularly where society is concerned. I have confronted people over various politically hot issues such as abortion and gay marriage. As a preacher I am deeply committed to the Lord Jesus Christ and His word. This often gets me in trouble because people do not understand why I do not approve of abortion, gay marriage, and other issues of political interest that are considered socially acceptable. If I say gay marriage is a sin, I am considered a homophobe and bigot. The fact of the matter is that I have many friends including a nephew who are gay. I love everybody and that includes people whose lifestyle differs from mine. I cannot, however, say that something is acceptable when the word of God says it is not acceptable. It does not matter to Jesus that society says it is socially acceptable for two men or two women to have sex. He says it is sin. Proponents will argue that the Bible was written two thousand years ago and that it no longer applies today. It does apply today. Hebrews 13:8 tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday as He is today and will be the same forever. He does not change. What He said then is applicable now. As a Christian I am pledged to uphold that. My personal opinion is that I do not care if Adam marries Steve as long as I do not have to see public displays of affection. I do not care to see those out of any couple. What people do is their business. As a Christian however, my opinion does not count. I uphold God's opinion as written two thousand years ago. I may not be politically correct but as an American I have a right to my God's opinion.

Image #2235060 over display limit. -?- Hi Everybody

I was preaching today. The topic was one that I was a bit reluctant to preach on because it placed me and one of the members of my congregation in direct conflict with each other. It was a sermon about judging others as sinful because we disagree with their blatantly sinful choices. I take the position that we are all equally guilty in the eyes of God and that the only difference between Christians and non-believers is that our daily sinfulness is forgiven. I was sure I hurt his feelings so I spoke with him about it later. He said that I had not. I had spoken what God had given me.

How do you deal with conflicts of belief with fellow believers?

Jesus told us that if we were offering our gift at the altar and realized that somebody had something against us, we were to leave the gift at the altar and go reconcile the conflict. If the person would not hear us, we were to go back with two or three witnesses and try to settle it. If that still failed we were to take it to the church for a decision. Matt 18:15-20.

The gentleman in question for me was having no part of any of that. I finally grew tired of his belligerence, and realizing that I was dealing with a force of evil, rebuked him in the name of Jesus Christ and ordered Him to be quiet. The demonic force left him and we have been fine since that time. Of course, most disagreements in the church have nothing to do with demons. The demon had been troubling this brother for days and we just thought he was getting cranky. The Lord pointed out to me what it was and I used the Lord's authority to deal with it.

In most cases, simply going to the person you've offended and making amends is sufficient. Use the steps of Matt 18 described above. If you were the one who was offended offer forgiveness and forget the offense. "Justified" or forgiven to God means "Just As if I'd Never Done It." We must forgive and forget as if the offender had never offended us to begin with.

Write about this in your Blog entry today."

This is a poem about depression. Depression is a mental illness that affects 25% of the population. It is usually more predominant in women than in men but a large percentage of men, 15% the last I heard, suffer from it as well. It is characterized by poor sleep or too much sleep, over or undereating, a general feeling of lethargy, loss of interest in things one normally cares about, a serious lack of energy, and a general sense of hopelessness. If you suffer from depression you need not suffer. It is a very treatable illness as science has made all sorts of advances in combatting it. See your doctor today.

Use this quote to inspire your blog entry."

I would have to agree. I believe knowing oneself is the trick. Knowing oneself and liking oneself opens the door for many communications and relationships to others. More often than not when I have a conflict with another I find that I play some small role in that conflict. I then have to fix my part of that conflict.

I would agree. If they treat everybody with love, including their enemies, they are likely Christian.

Image #2235060 over display limit. -?- Hi Everyone

Please pray for our Brother (246) who is dealing with some health issues right now. He is going to take some time off to recuperate and then he will be back with those great prompts.

Jesus told us in Luke 9:23 that we should "Take up" our "cross daily" and follow Him. Explain.

Jesus is telling us in this passage that we must get up every morning and put on the mantle of Christianity. We must be willing to live in this sinful world without being a part of the sinful world. The forces of evil are all around us. Like a lion, Stan is always carefully watching his prey and he will pounce. There is no "maybe" to it. He will attack and we must not only prepare ourselves for those attacks but the people God has entrusted to our care must also be prepared. If God has not entrusted any people to our care and we are not new Christians, then shame on us. God loves multiplication and addition and He expects us to grow the kingdom. When we do grow the kingdom we must be willing to train and equip our converts for the attack that will come. Notice that I did not say the attack might come. I said it will come. Satan is simply waiting for the right opportunity to strike the fatal blow and take the new Christian or the old, weak Christian out of the kingdom. He will attack and it is our job to be ready for those attacks. Jesus said to "Take up your cross daily and follow me."

Crosses to the audience listening to Jesus were not the dainty, pretty little pieces of jewelry we wear around our necks. They were instruments of death by cruel and unusual suffering. When Jesus said that to the disciples, the disciples knew He meant for them to be prepared to devote their entire lives to the kingdom, not just a few hours one day per week. Christianity is a lifestyle that requires the believer to work 24 hours per day, seven days per week for the kingdom. We Americans pride ourselves on being Americans. Well guess what? I am not an American any longer! My allegiance belongs to the Kingdom of Heaven and it is for that Kingdom that I must be prepared to fight and if necessary, to die! All too often Christians get saved and that is the end of their journey. They go to church regularly, participate in the worship, and then sit idle the rest of the week. They do not learn the scriptures well enough to defend the scriptures or explain them. They do not teach and minister to others. Instead they throw some money in the offering to pay the preacher who's job they believe is to evangelize and win souls. Wake Up Dreamers! The preacher's job is to feed your soul so that you can go out and disciple others and equip others for the Satanic attacks that will come along. If your heart is not yearning to preach the gospel to others and to study with them on a daily basis to equip them for the attacks that are inevitable, then Satan has already attacked and eaten his fill: of you! You are Satan's victim if you do not yearn to fight the devil!

A few weeks ago, I encountered a demon in church. Yes. Satan was prowling right in our small chapel congregation. One of the members, a long-standing Christian of good repute became very argumentative and belligerent. I looked at him and said "Satan, in the name of Jesus Christ I command you to shut up!"

The man immediately quit arguing and trying to bait me, and has long since returned to his old self. Other believers were amazed at the difference and have commented about the change in the man's behavior since I cast the demon out in Jesus's name. I am telling this so that readers know that evil is real. Satan is prowling and he is hungry. He will attack and he will attack soon. We must be prepared and we must help other Christians to prepare. We must study with others on a daily basis. Yes. Daily! Once a week is insufficient. The Christians in the early church met daily as shown in Acts 2:46-47. They knew that it required daily prayer, Bible study, and daily practice to equip them. The Bible is our sword and nobody ever fought with a sword who did not spend years practicing with that sword. If they did fight without training they were quickly defeated. Christianity takes daily exercise or we will become Satan's prey. Jesus said to take up our cross and He meant just that.

What would you do in these situations?"

I try not to get into these situations to begin with. The past and the future are no man's land for me. I am a recovering addict. I have found that I cannot stay clean if I have one foot in the past ruminating about "should've, would've and could've" and the other foot in tomorrow worryinmg about "what-if, how do I, and Why do I?"

I can only survive by staying firmly planted in the present. Yes. I make plans and set goals. Yes. I rectify mistakes. I do all those things in the here and now. I do not have a time machine that will allow me to time travel. If I did have, when I got there to me it would still be the present. The present is called the present because like any present, it is a gift. I must make the best of it and appreciate it for what it is.

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- Prompt: "You come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly." — Sam Keen

A lot of people get hung up with the imperfections. Are you one ? What's the best way to handle imperfection?

Address it or ignore it."

I do not do either when it comes to imperfection. I accept it instead. When I came to the point that I quit trying to change others and instead began to work on changing the imperfections others saw in me, I began to grow as a human being. All the anger and resentment that I held toward people melted away and flowed away like water. I get along with 99.99975 percent of the people I encounter today and all of them seem to like me. The tiny fraction I do not get along with I have to ask myself what I am doing wrong in the relationship. I usually find that the real problem lies in me and it is usually that I am unwilling to accept and love those people for the knuckleheaded idiots they choose to be. It is not my responsibility to change others or make them conform to my rules. It is my job to accept and love others for exactly who they are. If they are intolerable asses it is still my job to love them and accept them as intolerable asses. I do not have to hang with them. I do not try to change them and I certainly do not read their pedigree to them. I do not judge. I simply accept. Acceptance truly is the "answer to all my problems today," Alcoholics Anonymous page 417.

When I find some person, place, thing, or situation, unacceptable to me I accept that person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly the way it is. I do not get angry and try to change it unless it is a threat to my immediate safety or that of others. Many people are asses. I accept that that they are jerks and move on.

them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice;
and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd."

Prompt: Have you considered that we modern-day Christians
are written about very plainly in this passage?
Can you see yourself? Do you understand the reference?"

I agree that modern Christians were among those that Jesus had in mind when He referenced other sheep. The context of this passage reveals that even the Pharisees and other listeners at that time figured out that jesus was referencing the Gentiles, although they had no idea to what extent. Jesus knew the future. He could seed the events unfolding before Him. He transcends time so all time is "present" to Him. Everything in history, past, present, and future is revealed to Him. He was referencing Gentiles because He knew Israel would reject Him just as Jews and other non-Christians reject Him to this day.

Who is your favorite musician? What do you like about them?"

I don't have a favorite musician because I do not listen to that much music. If I were to choose a favorite though it would be Bob Seger. The housekeeper on my floor has a radio playing softly in the background and I do hear it when I am working. He listens to older rock and pop music. I think it's okay. I can take it or leave it.

The fern grows best in rainy climates and rich dirt. It is hard to decipher what a fern says. They sparkle in the rain. I scored an interception by spotting a poisonous snake under a fern. My brother was about to step on the snake.

Discuss how you felt reading this quote. Did you immediately think of someone special or a time in your life?"

Yes. It makes me think of my late wife Susan.
