I am running late today! I had a meeting today with the State Cabinet Secretary for the Department of Veterans Assistance. I have class later so this will probably be the extent of my entry for the day. Hopefully I'll be able to blog tomorrow.

For my blog "Prompt: Is it better to pray with your eyes open or closed, and why? Do you have a favorite prayer stance or position?"

I think that is a matter of personal preference. I really don't believe it will send you to hell one way or the other as long as you reverence God.

For my blog Prompt: "Today we were still experimenting and investigating near a black hole. Then we went to a star base to download information. On the way we saw a star. kevint writes about a city of sin. Tell us about a city of sin.

There are cities of sin. Just down the road from where I live is a strip bar where women dance naked. Prostitution is rampant and the town of which we are a suburb basically has one of the worst opioid problems of any city in the country. But aren't all cities "cities of sin?" We live in a fallen world after all.

For my blog "Prompt: Do you think people in general still value the teachings found in the Bible?

I think the moral fabric of man is in decay. Do I think people still value teachings found in the Bible? The question is did people ever truly value them? If they did they would have obeyed them a long time ago. Man is a depraved creature who will one day kneel and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. For now the only hope man has is a change of heart, which does not appear to be forthcoming.

For my blog Today we once more engaged an enemy ship just outside the neutral zone. We then took it in tow and dragged it to a star base for investigation. While doing so we observed a star. HollyMerry writes about flowers in

My favorite flower is the daffodil. They are the first flowers of spring and often the first sign of spring. Winter is depressing to me because everything looks dead. The after a long, depressing winter, the daffodil springs up giving me renewed vigor and hope.

For my blog "Prompt:What is your favorite promise listed in the Bible? Why?"

My favorite promise from the Bible, aside from eternal life, is "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13.

I find that this promise holds true. I have never encountered a problem that God could not conquer through me. God does it. I am only the conduit. I could no more take credit for it than a piece of wire could take credit for running an electric motor. I play a role but God does the action and gets the glory.

For my blog Today we were cruising near a black hole and doing some experiments. Then we cruised into Delta quadrant and met up with the crew of Voyager. Jane Way pointed out a star that some of us knew. Dee writes

about a man in love. What is love to you?

Love to me is a verb. It is not a mushy feeling. It is an action. Love is putting somebody else ahead of myself. The needs of the object of my love become more important than my own selfishness.

For my blog "Prompt: Do you believe it is wrong for a woman to get an abortion? Why or why not?"

I was going to try to stay away from controversial subjects but yes, I believe it is wrong to get an abortion no matter what. Adoption is always a solution. Some say that rape is a good reason to get an abortion. The baby did not rape anybody. It is innocent. Punish the rapist. Incest is cited as a reason. Again the baby did not commit incest and we are all products of incest.

Yes. Blackwater Falls State Park is near me and I once lived less than a quarter of a mile from Niagara Falls. It's odd, but I never met an atheist at Niagara or Blackwater Falls. When you see something that natural and beautiful you see Intelligent Design written all over it. You cannot deny God.

How would you describe your view of God? Jesus? Is He a reality to you or more of a vague concept?"

To me believing in God means believing in and having a daily, personal relationship with the Son of God. Most people say they believe in God but they are not willing to commit to the Son of God. If we fail to have a relationship with Jesus Christ we are just peddling our wheels. We are going to hell. A relationship with Jesus is dynamic and life-changing. I could not stand life without Jesus in it.

I think this poem says it all. America is in trouble now. We have politicians defunding the police, passing ungodly laws, and inflating prices. It is disturbing to say the least. However, America will survive.

Image #2249882 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: Romans 1:17 - What does the Apostle Paul mean by writing “the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith?"

It is not by coincidence that you chose this verse. I just started my new classes for the fall semester yesterday. One of the classes I am taking is Church History 2 Or HCHT 506. The text for the first week is about Martin Luther. Chadwick says that Luther was the father of the Protestant Reformation. He was deeply moved by this very verse. You see, he knew that man was sinful. Like me he was acutely aware of his own short comings. He knew the law could do nothing but condemn. It could not save. He also knew that penance was not the solution because man's righteousness was like filthy rags to God. Luther saw himself as a sinner condemned before a righteous God who was helpless to save himself. He was the deer in the headlights so to speak. Then he meditated on Romans 1:17 and realized that by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ man could be saved and only through such faith. Faith opens the door for God to bestow upon us the righteousness of Jesus Christ. We can never be righteous enough to please God, but Jesus embodies the righteousness of God because Jesus is God. God then becomes our righteousness through faith in the substitutionary death of Jesus. To Luther this was earth moving. It changed his whole perspective, and in a sense set off the Protestant Reformation. The reformation had more to do with "indulgences" but Luther believed indulgences were manmade works that had no power to save. That's another question though. Suffice it to say that Luther was deeply moved by Romans 1:17. Luther’s entire theology is based on faith. For Luther, no amount of penance or absolution by a priest can wash away the guilt of sin. This guilt, Luther believes, can only be washed away by the blood of Jesus Christ. The only way to get into contact with that blood is by faith. Luther believes wholly in Romans 3:23 and believes that man is helpless to redeem himself from his fallen state. Only by faith in the completed work of Jesus Christ can one be saved.

the author writes about having extremely intelligent conversations...with himself. We all do it! What do you think of talking to yourself?"

I don't worry about talking to myself. It's arguing that gets me into trouble! I had a heck of an argument the other day between Me, Myself, and I. Now I am not speaking to Me and Myself! I thinks I won the argument, but can't convince Me and Myself of that so now we're not speaking at all!

Classes started for me today and as a rule I rush ahead and get them done six weeks early. This time I am going to slow my pace down just slightly. That means I am going to make an effort to do my blog daily.

Image #2249882 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: Have you ever had a season of doubt or a dark night of the soul? What did that look and feel like? What steps did you take in that season?"

I've had seasons like that. I just reminded myself that God is faithful and that even when I could not sense His presence He was no less real and no less present. God is omnipresent meaning He is everywhere at the same time. If he is everywhere at the same time then it is illogical to believe he would ever not be present. There are times my faith or feelings may waver but my limitations do not limit God in any way, shape, or form.

How do you deal with noisy neighbors?"

I have 14 people living above me, but the floors are concrete so they don't bother me. I've always had bad hearing anyway so noisy upstairs neighbors never bothered me much. Most of the time I was the upstairs neighbor.
