As we move into November, Thanksgiving is the next holiday. This holiday is not as controversial to Christians as Halloween. Do you believe a Christian should celebrate Thanksgiving? If you do, how do you plan to celebrate this year?

I believe that most of our "holidays" it seems have pagan roots. Yes, even Thanksgiving has pagan roots. If you do the research, you can find that out. I think what matters most is what is on your heart. I think Thanksgiving is a great time to reflect on your blessings and give God praise. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I feel kind of bad for blogging myself for a while, but life got crazy. I am going to try to get better at least on this blog. I should also share my thoughts with you. It is sharing one another's thoughts and examining ourselves that we are able to grow together spiritually. I appreciate your patience and understanding.

These are just some random thoughts today. I have allowed myself to become overwhelmed. I am a person who aspires to do a lot of things all at once. For a while I seem to move along just fine with everything, moving back and forth from one project to the next. Then something in life happens to upset the applecart so to speak, and I seem to fall apart and get behind. Then I get overwhelmed.

I take care of my roommate who is disabled. I also have some health issues of my own. I take care of our elderly dog. I have a Pampered Chef business and a Tupperware business. I also sell handmade craft items. I have my duties here on Writing.com which I enjoy. I like to stay busy and occupied.

Then along comes and elderly neighbor and her adorable little dog. I love to help others. I did offer my neighbor assistance when needed. However, it has become more of a burden than I wanted. Now she depends on me as if I was her daughter. She can be demanding, smothering and obsessive at times, even possessive. I realize she is lonely. I don't want to hurt her feelings, but I do not wish to be responsible for her. I am just trying to be a good friend and neighbor. I try to love others with the love of Jesus. She will sometimes pay me to do stuff for her and she is good about giving me a ride when needed. I definitely don't want to lose the transportation aspect because I don't have a car of my own. I have gotten myself in between a rock and a hard place with her.

Anyway, a couple of months ago, my neighbor broke her hip and left rehab AMA after having a surgery to repair the broken hip. I have tried to be there for her and help her. It's no surprise she is still having issues with the hip. I have had to pick her up out of the floor a couple of times since she broke her hip. She has a follow-up doctor's appointment Wednesday. I am at a point where I wonder if I am truly helping her. I think she takes advantage of my kindness.

I have tried communicating with her daughter. Her daughter and her have a strained relationship. So that has gotten a whole lot of nowhere because they have a hard time getting along. In fact, the neighbor has tried to place me between her and her daughter because she is afraid her daughter will place her in a nursing home. Here I am in a place I don't want to be and not completely sure how we got here.

Then I am hard on myself because I don't feel like I am able to keep up with it all. I am behind on my house cleaning and have neglected my business a couple of days just trying to catch up. Then I ended up having an autoimmune flare up probably due to the stress of it all. I am left feeling frustrated and exhausted.

I want to keep up with my writing, and I am briefly jumping on here every day that I can. I am trying to keep up with emails and other things. However, it appears I may have accidently overlooked some. For that, I am sorry.

This is going to probably sound bad, but I was exposed directly to someone who tested positive for Covid Friday. I am actually thankful to have a few days of quarantine. I have to quarantine with my roommate because she is very high risk. However, that means I have a few days to stay in and just focus on my own responsibilities. If I don't get sick, maybe I can play a little bit of catchup.

...Pray for me...

I share all of this not to complain, but because I know I am not the only one who struggles. Life has its ups and downs no matter how "good" you try to be. We all fail. We are all human. I thank God that I don't have to face life's problems alone because I have his Holy Spirit with me. Sometimes, things meant by Satan to harm us can be God's way of giving us exactly what we need at that time.

Welcome...

July 2022:
(Getting extra personal this month-lol)

Do you care what others think of you?
To an extent. However, for the most part, no! People will think what they will.

Are you easily influenced by others?
I like to think that I am not. I have been accused of being a bit of a rebel.

How is your relationship with your parents?
They are deceased. However, when they were alive, it was very complicated, dysfunctional, and toxic.

Do you believe in soul mates?
YES!

What are the 3 most important things in a relationship?
Love, trust, peace

Can you accept people for who they are?
yes, but I don't always have to associate with them.

Do you feel accepted?
In some circles, yes. Other times, not so much.

Is there a relationship in your life you would like to change?
Yes, my neighbor drives me crazy. I care and want to help within reason, but wish I knew how and what bounderies to set with her. She can be quite difficult and demanding at times.

How would you change it?
As I stated above, I would establish better boundaries with her.

How do you fit into your family? What is your role?
That's a very good question. At this point, I don't know.

Your family is always the people you are related to.
Sometimes close friends are closer than blood relatives.

Which non-relatives do you consider family?
My best friend, Sheila.

Do you have any toxic friendships in your life? How can you deal with this?
I tend to attract the under dogs. So, yes, I sometimes end up with toxic friendships. Truthfully, I remind myself that Christ thought they were to die for and that every human on earth has value. They are here for a purpose.

Do you find it easy to apologize to others?
Most of the time when I truly feel an apology is owed.

Are you a good listener?
I try to be, but I know I can improve.

Have your views on love changed since you were a teenager? If so, why?
I know a lot more than I did back then. I can't say my views on love have changed too much though. I have just become smarter and wiser regarding it.

Are you a secretive person? Do you find it easy to confide in other people?
I am pretty much what you see is what you get. I don't always confide in others, but I am not completely private either. Just look at my Facebook page. lol

Who are you closest to in your family and why?
My cousin Teresa, who is also a writer on here because she is the one, I talk to the most.

Who knows you the best?
Sheila, my best friend

Do you share the same values as other members of your family?
No

Is there a big difference between your values and those of the older members of your family?
Somewhat, but it's hard to explain.

Are you attracted to the same personality type as yourself or the opposite?
I am attracted to both I think.

What one thing do you wish someone would say to you?
Would you like some help with that?

Do you make friends easily?
yes

Who did you last spend quality time with? Why do you think you connect well with that person?
My best friend, Sheila. We have known each other from high school.

Do you think you are fairly judged by others?
No, I am frequently misunderstood.

Is there someone in your life you should be spending more time with?
I should probably spend more time with Sheila.

Is there someone you should be spending less time with?
Cathy and John

Have you ever loved someone who didn’t love you back? How did that make you feel?
Yes, it is deeply hurtful and life changing.

Have you ever betrayed a friend?
Sometimes life requires us to make hard decisions we don't want to make. Yes, unfortunately, but we have since made up.

Have you ever been betrayed by a friend?
More than once

Have you ever felt controlled by another person?
More than I care to mention

Who, in your life makes you feel special?
Sheila and Alex

Who can you share comfortable silences with?
Sheila

Who are you most like in your family?
I am not sure and not sure I want to know

Do you think people look up to you?
A lot of times, yes

Who can calm you down?
Sheila

Who are you not afraid to be yourself with?
anyone. I am who I am.

Do you think it is important, to be honest with people even if that honesty causes pain?
Most of the time, yes. A lie hurts worse than the truth if it is discovered.

Do you have friends who have different backgrounds from you? Do you feel this is important?
yes and yes

Who would you turn to in a crisis?
Sheila

Have you ever been afraid of another person? How did you deal with this?
Yes, more than I care to mention. Avoid that person and situation if you can. Either that, find out where your edge is and use it for all you are worth.

Do you ever feel sad about people you have lost touch with who were once important to you? of course

How do you think your work colleagues feel about you?
I think most of them like me.

How do you feel about them? Do you have good working relationships?
Yes, I have good work relationships.

Do you feel that you need more encouragement from others?
Not necessarily, but it is nice to receive it.

Can you communicate well in a relationship? Do you talk out your problems?
I like to think I am a good communicator, and of course I talk them out. :)

Have you ever lied or cheated in a relationship? Did you come clean?
Yes, and yes, I came clean.

Do you regret it now?
yes

What are your best traits?
my smile, kindness, creative, resourceful

What are your worst traits?
my temper scares even me.

What is the biggest compliment you have ever received?
I saved a child's life when it was choking and was called a hero.

What do you need to make you feel safe?
God and my faith in Jesus Christ

Where is your safe place?
Is there really a "safe" place?
At home

What do you worry about?
I try not to worry, but mostly about the safety and well-being of the people I love the most.

Do you worry too much? How can you deal with this?
I don't think I do. If I feel myself getting overly worried, I pray until I feel better.

What is your favorite song? What does it mean to you?
I have many favorite songs. I guess if I have to pick just one, it would be "Amazing Love".

What is your greatest accomplishment?
Graduating high school and technical trade school

What are you most thankful for?
Jesus' sacrifice on the cross

What would your ideal day be?
Hmm! Good question. I guess I would have gotten plenty of sleep the night before. I would have my Bible reading and prayer time. I would exercise and eat healthy and feel satisfied. I would spend some time with Sheila. I would spend time here on WDC. I would do what I needed to do for my businesses and work on my crafts some.

prompt
Write about your most recent Bible reading or study/devotion.

I was reading in 1 Kings, but then I felt led by the Holy Spirit to read some chapters in the New Testament. I have been asking God how I should go about praying for healing of my health issues. I was led to where Jesus prayed at the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus prayed, "If it be thy will, let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but thine be done." I think God wants us to ask him for healing with faith, but reality is that not everyone is healed instantaneously. We know God is capable of healing us since he created us. We don't always know the reason for our illnesses and suffering. We can know that God will be glorified rather it was for our sin, someone else's sin, to teach us, or for ministry or testing. We can be sure good will become of it even if we don't see it or understand it right now. So instead of demanding or trying to manipulate God, we yield to his will. Father, if it be your will, let this illness, problem, or heartache pass from me. Nevertheless, not my will but yours be done. In the meantime, God will be there with you through it all. We are to live in his presence at all times even if we don't feel like he is there. If I live or die, I am in his presence, and he is in control. Are you willing to suffer and be uncomfortable to be in his presence and in his will? I am.

prompt
In your opinion, what is the best Christian movie you have seen and why?

I Am Not Ashamed is the best so far that I have seen. Here is the review of it that I wrote in my Rising Star program, "Review of I Am Not Ashamed.

5/27
prompt
How has God provided for you lately?

He has provided food, shelter, clothing. He is my constant and steady companion. He is my help when I need him. He is my anchor. He is my everything. What has he not provided? He provides my everything!

5/28
prompt
Do something for someone to show them you value them like Jesus values them, and then write about the experience. What did you do? How did it make you feel? How did the other person respond? Etc...

I try to do this with everyone every day. Today, I helped an elderly neighbor when they had fallen out of bed. Yesterday, I carried in her groceries. I try to put other's needs before my own within reason. Most of the time it is well received. Rarely, I get a negative reaction sometimes. It always makes me feel good to love others.

5/30
prompt
Write about someone you can share your faith with during the month of June. How will you approach them? Write out a plan. What are your concerns and what can you do about them? etc...

This is a good question even for me. There are a lot of people I know that don't know the Lord like I do. I am doing 2 network marketing businesses, and I can't help but notice the similarities in Christian soul winning. I think one of these days I need to write about how Christianity and network marketing are similar. It's really rather interesting when you think about it.

I would like to use my new network marketing skills to witness to others. There is a lot of negativity associated with it, but it isn't all bad. I am learning so much. Even if I don't make a lot of money at it, I value the things and skills I am learning from it. That in itself is worth the investment to get started in the business of network marketing.

Since next Monday is Memorial Day, Do you believe you can still speak to the dead once they are gone? What is your view of Saints and Sainthood?

I realize that many people believe in saints and saint hood. I personally don't believe we should pray to our dead. I won't say that you can't speak to them. Are they aware of it? I don't know. However, I do believe we should only pray to God (including God the Father, The Holy Spirit, and Jesus). I feel that when we pray or ask favors of anyone or anything else, we are putting them in the position and authority of God. If God is the ultimate authority, why bother asking anyone else?

Let's write about Jesus and the difference he has made in our lives.

Jesus Christ has redeemed me from my sins. He is preparing a place in Heaven for my soul when my body dies. He has repaired my relationship with God the Father and has given me the ability to also become a child of God. He has made a huge difference in my life now. I am daring to dream again. I have a new hope. I can face tomorrow just because he lives.

Write about the story of King Solomon.

King Solomon was made king after his father David. I find it interesting that he is also the son of Bathsheba, Urriah's wife before David had him killed. He was the wisest man on earth at that time. Because of his being king and his wisdom, he also had many riches. God gave him riches and wisdom because he originally asked God for wisdom to lead God's people.

Proverbs 4:20-23
20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

What do these verses say to you?

The writer is expressing the importance of the words he is saying. He wants the reader to take them to heart and to not forget them. The writer's words will extend the reader's life and will add health to it. Keep guard over your heart because everything in life flows from it.

Proverbs 4:14-19
14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

Write about what this scripture passage means to you.

I believe this is saying don't get involved with evil people when they are up to no good. Walk away if you find yourself in a situation where they are trying to get you to join them in their mischief. They live, eat, drink, and breath to do wickedness. Wickedness is darkness and therefore blinding. Goodness is as light. It makes it easier to see straight. Goodness will become brighter and brighter the more it is practiced.
