I would make some sort of clever introduction here, but most of us already know how blogs work; if you like me and like my writing, you might also enjoy my personal ramblings and assorted thoughts. If you don't like me, you're probably not reading this anyway. And if you're undecided in your opinion of me, I invite you to read as much or as little as you like and decide for yourself.
Please read on and, if you find something worth discussing, don't be shy about submitting a comment!
Beacon-Light Forever - The book is pretty good. The movie adaptations I've seen are all kind of meh, but the series on Netflix (the first season was The Haunting of Hill House, the second season is The Haunting of Bly Manor) is quite good. I'd be hard-pressed to choose whether the book or the Netflix series is better... the original book is great, but the Netflix series makes some excellent modern updates to what at this point has been a pretty well-tread story.
Hi there, I wanted to know more about Haunting of Hill House, The by Shirley Jackson because I've seen the movie and it was a horror / thriller kind of movie. Since you read the book, was it better than the movie? Please let me know and I'm curious about it.
I haven't been writing as much as I want to either. I completely understand how one can fill their time with other things. I've been in what someone else called a "brain fog" for a while now. I need to find my way out of it.
Good luck with the changes. I wish you great success!
I believe this year is a time for breaking habits and changing direction, I have started my changes. "What’s ahead for me in 2021?" You can do this Jeff.
I've traveled a lot since 2009. 2020 has been devastating. 10+ months trapped at home and no energy to read or do much of anything else. Nerves shattered and depression napping.
2021? Cut back on use of social media and news. Get out of town as traveling helps me physically, mentally and emotionally.
I love this song, and I appreciate this video a lot because I met Drew from seeing him in it.
I really miss how the site was when I first got here. There was just so much to do, so many people. The site always felt like birthday week. I still talk to a lot of those people off-site, but it's not the same not having them actually here to participate in stuff with you. Anyway, I assume it's the same... just people getting busy with life an unplugging. Not sure. Obviously I came at the tail end of that time frame.
One of my best friends in university wanted to get married to a rich guy and then just "hang out and spend money" all day. She didn't want kids at all. I asked her why she was in school instead of finding her sugar daddy. She said it would be good to have a degree just in case. I really like this song. It's super catchy and has a good message behind it. It's good to hear that you're raising your kids right.
It's funny how reactions/perspective/point-of-view can be opposite.
In the Time of Covid my reaction was totally negative but then 1. I've never been a party-animal, 2. I prefer silence to noise (a.k.a. music) , 3. I'm in a high risk group in a college town with partying gen-Z.
The last thing I want to see is a bunch of drunks dancing to this while spitting in each other's faces at the (small) casino next door... and then finding out a couple are staying in my building where we share toilets/showers with tourists renting AirBnB units.
This video seems to take you back to a happy time. And that's good. It just terrifies me.
