"Barrel of Monkeys" | Day 10"Need You Now" by Lady A from Need You Now (2009) This entry isn't so much about the song as the band and all of their misfortune with their name lately. For those of you who haven't heard, in light of all of the recent talk about racism and the ongoing legacy of slavery and the South, Lady Antebellum (and the Dixie Chicks) decided to change their band name to remove references to their Southern Roots. But while Dixie Chicks became "The Chicks" and both checked with and celebrated the fact that they share a name with a band from New Zealand, Lady Antebellum decided to change their name to "Lady A" without realizing that there was already a fairly prominent African American musician using that stage name... and then sued said musician over the name. I'm not sure that's really the best way to prove that you're sensitive to racial tensions, but sure. You do you, Lady A.  |
"Barrel of Monkeys" | Day 9"In My Head" by Jason DeRulo from Jason DeRulo (2010) This is one of the most played songs on my iTunes, thanks in large part to the fact that I put it on repeat and then accidentally left it on all night. So while I can't claim that it's one of my favorite songs in the world, I do enjoy it from time to time. But probably not as much as my iTunes listening library would imply, which has it literally with hundreds and hundreds of plays. So I guess you could say this was definitely my "most listened to" track of 2010.  |

Anyway, I assume it's the same... just people getting busy with life an unplugging. Not sure. Obviously I came at the tail end of that time frame.
I really like this song. It's super catchy and has a good message behind it. It's good to hear that you're raising your kids right.
And that's good. It just terrifies me.
