| Have you peeked at your Community tab lately? It got a BIG glow-up! We've completely redesigned the Community tab in your portfolio to give you a much better look at all the ways you're part of Writing.Com... your Merit Badges, Awardicons, Trinkets, reviews, forum activity, recognitions, achievements, and MORE. And you may notice we moved Community closer to the front of your portfolio tabs, too. That was intentional. Because Writing.Com has always been about more than what you write here. It's about what you do here, the people you encourage, the reviews you give, the conversations you join, the things you accomplish, and all those little ways you become part of this community. Go take a peek at your newly renovated Community tab (Navigation: Portfolio / Community)! There's a whole lot of YOU in there! Writing.Com Support |

TODAY, Writing.Com turns 26 YEARS OLD. Twenty-six years of writers. Twenty-six years of stories, poems, reviews, contests, friendships, late-night writing sessions, ridiculous emoticons, thousands upon thousands of inside jokes, and more words than we could even begin to count. And somehow, after 26 years... We think this might be one of our most exciting Septembers EVER. Because this year, we're not just throwing a weeklong birthday party. We're kicking off an entire SEASON of writing. And it all starts RIGHT NOW. FIRST: WE'RE HAVING A BIRTHDAY!From September 1–7, Writing.Com's 26th Birthday Celebration is taking over the site! Writing.Com Party Central 2026! is OPEN, our members have been busy putting together contests and activities, and we have been working behind the scenes on all kinds of new goodies and surprises. For seven days, keep coming back because there will be something new EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Midnight birthday drops Daily freebies New merit badges Brand-new emoticons New trinkets and goodies Contests, raffles and challenges Member-hosted birthday activities Newsfeed surprises...and whatever else we decide to throw into the party along the way. (We are constantly updating, so even WE don't know what else we might release this week! )After 26 years, we have gotten VERY good at birthdays around here.
Favorite this, check it every day, leave it open in a tab all week, tattoo it on your arm. Okay, maybe don't do that last one. (Although if you do, SMs *might* send you an extra cool merit badge.)But definitely COME BACK EVERY DAY, because new birthday goodies will be appearing throughout the entire week. AND THIS YEAR... SEPTEMBER 1st IS ALSO A STARTING LINE.This is the part that makes our 26th birthday feel very different. For months, we've been building something brand new behind the scenes... something BIG. And today, for the very first time, Writing.Com writers are stepping up to the starting line together for... Our very first Writing Season officially begins TODAY with the September Fun Run! We've got daily prompts waiting for you. You can free write. You can work on fiction, nonfiction, poetry, memoir, blogging, short stories, that manuscript you've been ignoring, or whatever else gets your fingers moving.Choose your goal: 5K or 10K WORDS. It's that simple. And you have the entire month of September to get there. And even better? Some of the activities you already participate in around Writing.Com work WITH Writing Season, so the words you're already writing may count toward BOTH. We don't want Writing Season to replace all the amazing things already happening around WdC. We want it to bring them together. Ultimately? We want to get WRITING.COM WRITING. Join now and write with the community!
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! SEPTEMBER IS ONLY THE BEGINNING.We're calling it a Writing Season for a reason... because it lasts THREE MONTHS! September is our Fun Run Start writing. Build the habit. Pick 5K or 10K and get those words flowing. October is our Base Camp Get Trained & Ready with 27 writing tasks, with paths for both fiction AND nonfiction writers and four built-in Rest Days along the way. November is our Marathon Then we GO. Choose a 25K, 50K, 75K or 100K word-count goal and see how far this Writing Season can take you. If you complete ALL THREE EVENTS, there's a very special inaugural Writing Season Triple Crown Awardicon waiting for your portfolio. Because apparently we couldn't just make ONE new writing event. We made three. Explore the Season and pick your events!
AND THEN THERE'S CHEER CREWWriting.Com has never just been about putting words on a screen. The community that surrounds you here is just as important to your success as the words you put on the page. Writing can be lonely, but certainly not at Writing.Com. Throughout all three Writing Season events, Cheer Crew makes it easy to: find writers who could use a little encouragement, celebrate people reaching milestones, welcome new participants, send Cheer Signs, and remind somebody who's having a rough writing day that YES, they can keep going. You can write, you can cheer, and you can absolutely do BOTH. We encourage both, actually! Sometimes a few words of encouragement are exactly what another writer needs to keep going. We want that to be part of Writing Season from beginning to end and you're invited to be a part of that, too! AND YES... IT WOULDN'T BE A WDC BIRTHDAY WITHOUT PRESENTSOur 26th Birthday Gift Point Sale starts TODAY and runs through September 7 at 11:59 PM! 100,000 for $10.00 (No Extra) 257,500 for $25.00 (3% Extra, Free!) 530,000 for $50.00 (6% Extra, Free!) 1,090,000 for $100.00 (9% Extra, Free!) 2,800,000 for $250.00 (12% Extra, Free!) 5,750,000 for $500.00 (15% Extra, Free!) Use them for badges. Gift memberships. Surprise another writer. Support your favorite community activities. Hoard them like a tiny GP dragon. We don't judge and we are totally ok with that. And as always, every GP purchase helps support Writing.Com as an independent, family-run website. Twenty-six years doesn't happen without you. 7 DAYS = 7 FREE BADGESPaid members also get one FREE virtual badge EVERY DAY during our birthday celebration, September 1–7! Normally, you can send one free badge per month. But the birthday week? ONE. EVERY. DAY. Find somebody who wrote something you loved. Find somebody who helped you. Find somebody who's been cheering everyone else on or who's having a terrible day and could use something nice appearing in their inbox. Then send them a badge. Seven days... seven chances to make somebody on Writing.Com smile. COSTUMICONS ARE BACK, TOO!Because if Writing.Com is putting on its birthday clothes, obviously you should be able to do the same. Costumicon subscriptions are back through September 30! Change your own look or gift one to another writer from the Costumicons area in My Account. AND FINALLY... THANK YOUTwenty-six years. We type that every September and somehow the number just keeps getting more ridiculous. There are members receiving this email who have been here for DECADES. There are members who joined this week. There are people who grew up here. People who learned to write here. People who published their first books after starting here. People who met lifelong friends here. People who disappeared for ten years and then wandered back in and found us still here. And there are brand-new writers walking through the door right now who are just beginning their Writing.Com story. Every single one of you is part of what has kept this place going for 26 years. Our birthday has always done something special around here. It wakes the site up. Old friends wander back in. New members figure out very quickly just how wonderfully weird and kind we all are. People start creating more, hosting things, trying new activities, talking more... and writing like crazy. So this year... We're turning all of that birthday energy into a starting line. Today, we celebrate 26 years of Writing.Com. Today, Writing.Com Party Central 2026! kicks into full gear. Today, our very first WdC Writing Season 2026 Fun Run begins. And then we're going to keep writing together all the way through November. So come to the party, grab your freebies, send some badges, enter something ridiculous, pick your Writing Season goal, cheer somebody on... And most importantly? WRITE SOMETHING. Because after 26 years, that's still what this entire crazy place is all about. Happy 26th Birthday, Writing.Com. Here we go.
