 Introducing WdC Writing Season! Registration Opens August 19! For the past several months, we've been working behind the scenes on one of the biggest new projects we've introduced in years... and we're finally almost ready to open the doors! Welcome to the first annual WdC Writing Season! Every autumn, writers everywhere start thinking about National Novel Writing Month and setting ambitious writing goals. We wanted to capture that same excitement, but build something that feels unmistakably Writing.Com... something for fiction and nonfiction writers, with more ways to participate, more time to build momentum, and our incredible community alongside you for the entire journey. So instead of waiting until November... We're starting September 1st. Writing Season is a three-month writing adventure designed to help you build habits, strengthen your skills, reach your writing goals, and have a whole lot of fun doing it.  September: Fun Run In September, we're starting small and getting those words flowing! Choose a 5K or 10K word-count goal and spend September building your writing habit. Each day, you'll have several writing prompts to choose from... or simply free write if you already know exactly what you want to work on. And here's something we're especially excited about: Writing Season is designed to work alongside some of the community activities you already know and love! Fun Run prompts have been contributed by several established Writing.Com activities and groups, including the October Prep Challenge, 30-Day Blogging Challenge, Blogging Circle of Friends , and Blog Harbor. That means you may be able to participate in one of your favorite community activities while having those same words count toward your Fun Run goal... and earning credit (and prizes!) for both! We don't want Writing Season to replace all the amazing things already happening around Writing.Com. We want it to bring them together. ❤️ Write a little. Write a lot. Just WRITE!  October: Base Camp Then in October, we get trained and ready! You'll work your way through 27 writing tasks, choosing between the traditional Novel Prep path or the brand-new Nonfiction Manuscript Prep path, with four built-in Rest Days along the way. And Base Camp works hand-in-hand with Brandiwyn is Dean Winchester  's October Prep Challenge, so completing your daily Base Camp tasks can make you eligible for awards and accomplishments in both events! Brandiwyn's insight and experience have been invaluable throughout the development of Base Camp, and we're so excited to finally share this unique month of writing tasks with all of you. November: Marathon November... the biggest challenge of all. It's time to see how far you can go! Choose your November word-count goal: 25K • 50K • 75K • 100K Track your progress, reach milestones, earn badges and achievements, and work toward that finish line alongside writers throughout the community. And there will be awards waiting along the way as your word count climbs! Whether November is your first big writing challenge or you've been doing National Novel Writing Month for years and you're ready to go again, there's a goal waiting for you and a community ready to cheer for you. And no, you don't have to be writing a novel! Fiction, nonfiction, memoir, blogging, short stories, poetry, journaling, that book you've been meaning to finish... whatever you write, wherever you're starting, you're welcome here. Going for the Triple Crown?One event sounds fun... but what happens if you take on all three? Complete the Fun Run, conquer Base Camp, and cross the finish line in the Marathon, and you'll earn our very first: Writing Season Triple Crown Awardicon! You'll receive a special Triple Crown portfolio awardicon trophy recognizing that you completed the entire inaugural Writing Season. So yes... there might be a little incentive to stick with us from September through November.   And Then There's Cheer Crew! Because this is Writing.Com, we didn't want Writing Season to be only about tracking words and completing tasks. It's about our community, too. Throughout all three events, Cheer Crew will make it easy to find fellow participants who could use a little encouragement, celebrate writers reaching milestones, leave cheers, send Cheer Signs, welcome new participants, and help create the kind of supportive atmosphere that has always made Writing.Com special. And YES! You can absolutely write AND cheer! Sometimes a few words of encouragement are exactly what another writer needs to keep going. We want that to be part of Writing Season from beginning to end.  Registration Opens August 19th!That's NEXT WEEK! We're finishing up all those last little details now, and we can't wait to finally let all of you in. You'll be able to register for Fun Run, Base Camp, Marathon... or all three! And if you're already excited, you don't have to wait until August 19th to start having some fun...  Grab Your Writing Season Graphics!We've put together an entire collection of Writing Season graphics, covers, and signature banners for you to use around Writing.Com and beyond. Show everyone you're participating. Put one in your signature. Use a Writing Season cover on an item you're creating. Share one on social media. Help us spread the word and bring some more writers along for the adventure! Each shareable image links right to Writing Season! There are graphics for Writing Season, Fun Run, Base Camp, Marathon, Cheer Crew, and more... and if there's something you'd love to have that isn't there yet, let SMs know!  And Brandy Has Already Started the Fun...Because apparently waiting until September wasn't an option. 😂 Brandy has created a Writing Season Word Search to get everyone warmed up while we count down to registration: Go see how many Writing Season words you can find... and consider it your first unofficial training exercise. 😉 September 1st, We Begin. Three events. Three months. Thousands and thousands of words waiting to be written. But more importantly, we're going to do it together. Writing Season has been a true labor of love for all of us working behind the scenes, and seeing it finally come to life during Writing.Com's 26th Birthday Celebration makes this September even more special. So start thinking about your goals. Grab a graphic. Try Brandy's word search. Tell your friends. Recruit your writing buddies. And then come back on August 19th... REGISTRATION OPENS!
