Oct. 15, 2014 I became a freelance marketing communications consultant for Triton Algae Innovations, Ltd., San Diego, CA.

Algae production for human, animal, and fish feed is a sustainable enterprise that is environmentally friendly.

I love my work.
I am glad to hear that you are working in a sustainable field.
When I get a review from a new (to me) reviewer, I pop over to their port for a peek. I like to know them a little and what they've written. I'm always a tad disappointed when I get a "This member has not yet submitted a bio " message.

Anyone else feel the same?
I think some people are just more private than others. Or possibly less active members than we are. I don't even have time to pop over to see who's reviewing me, so it's good that you do! *Smile*
After submitting a contest entry that requires the prompt words in bold, I like to edit the item after the contest and un-bold. If not, it seems like I'm shouting at my reader and it jolts the flow.

Anyone else feel the same?
I thought shouting WAS LIKE THIS. Bold just distracts me from following the words along, so your effort is good. (I don't know why those contests can't find the words themselves without bold.)
I love auto spell check. I couldn't write without it. Sometimes my spelling is so bad, I can't even look up the word.

But, it's not perfect. It doesn't know all the words that I think I know. That's when I use "The Urban Dictionary."

What's your favorite spell pal?

The trouble with spell check is that, if my misspell is a real word, it doesn't catch it. What we need is a computer capability that knows what you meant to say and considers the context. On the other, hand I guess a machine that smart wold be scary. This computer contraption has me buffaloed as it is and it knows it.
You're right -- my MS Word auto-corrects so well that I start to believe I can actually type, then whenever I write emails I'm horrified when I proof-read.

Thank goodness for spell check. *Bigsmile*

Check out "Tiny Spell". It's a great little program. But the dad gum thing doesn't recognize when I spell their and mean there.
It just occurred to me after getting reviews for an old static item that was a contest entry, that reviewers often have no clue about the contest's constraints. I couldn't remember them myself.

But, I could also argue, if you post it as a static item, it should be able to stand on its own without an explanation.

What say you, fellow writers?
That's a tough one. I've had reviewers complain an item's too short, when it was written for a contest with a small word limit (like the Daily Flash) or a time limit (like the 15 For 15).

I appreciate reviews for the spirit in which they're given, but don't worry too much about the criticism that comes with them. I just send the reviewer a 'thank you' and go on my merry way! *Laugh*
When someone reviews a flash fiction of mine and writes that he wishes it were longer, I take that as a compliment. And if there is a suggestion of how to make it longer, that's great, too. The best gift you can give a writer is an idea.
I have come to hate the often used lead "blah, blah, means different things to different people," and its many variations that don't vary enough.

Does it bother anyone else or am I just being cranky?
I guess some people use it in place of yackity yak etc. Doesn't bother me as much as people who say 'basically' at least once a sentence. doremi
I don't like it much either.
I agree. It makes me think that the person just doesn't want to go to the trouble of coming up with something on their own.
