In my view, the primary focus should be on encouraging the writers to write. I do not review items I don't enjoy anymore because I see it as a waste of my time. So, if you get a review from me, I enjoyed reading your work. The amazing thing about this whole process is that reading an inspiring review usually leads to me reading more of a reviewer's work also. So, it's a win-win.

something I do not like. I do not enjoy writing hyper-critical reviews. I do NOT believe that "honesty" is a synonym for "mean." If I see someone being "mean" here on the public reviewing page, in group behaviors, or just acting as a bully I will not send them my reviews. The only exception to that would be judging a site contest - there all items get honest (and hopefully diplomatic) reviews of the work from me with no exceptions.

What does tHiNg think about while perusing your item?

In this poem, you combine lines from the poetry of other writers.

You weave the words together to tell a tale about brighter days ahead when the world seems bleak. This is well suited to the time we live in right now as the world mourns a beloved Queen.

I wasn't sure about the title being The Remix, but it suits the hopeful finish very well.

It fit the mood of the day today and the lines seem meant to be together. It looks like it is seamless, but I imagine this took a lot of time and work reading through the poetry of others. I wonder if you set out to write about current events since it seems to fit the times so well.

I took the last line as being optimistic in the face of struggle and praying for a better day in the future. We hang on and we get there is the message I get and the one that permeates is to have faith in the positive outcome.

This brought back those school days so long ago. I think you have captured the feel of it and you did an awesome job, using the emoticons! I like the way you punctuated the poem's individual lines also and how it all fit so perfectly.

I thought about that commercial that used to say something like the ecstasy of victory and the agony of defeat. I think one has to experience obstacles and hardships along the way to a great success. This is true in the physical sporting world and elsewhere, too.

The message is to always keep trying because great things can be just around the corner. So, persistence is the key to ultimate victory and success.

Nice message to send and I see that all the truly great in sporting or other fields are those who hang in there and keep trying when things get to be the most difficult.

I think you did a fine job of incorporating the number, "22" in your story as the prompt required. Also, you made it quirky and funny as this odd person is definitely on the wrong track!

The gentle humor about the marbles beings lost is amusing. This seems like the sort of mishap that might lead into a longer adventure somewhere along the way. I could see it as the opening to a mystery that Sherlock Holmes might solve.

I think you set the scene well and engaged the reader with the plight of both characters. I enjoyed reading this!

What does tHiNg think about while perusing your item?

It made me remember when I was young and how Mr. HOOves and I were married close to Valentine's Day. You have effectively portrayed the excitement and what it is like to be young and in love.

Lots of romance and details about the family and evening set the scene very well! Youth is such a fleeting, precious time of life, but we never quite realize it fully while it happens.

What does tHiNg think about while perusing your item?

The ultimate power is definitely to control the weather. That has more of an effect on a great number of people than controlling any other aspect of life. Doing it with a wave seems at first to be ideal. Then I thought about the power in the wrong hands and where that might lead.

It made me think about it and about how much I appreciate when the weather cooperates with living and doing things. We never know when obstacles will be thrown at us and really the weather is doing what it's always done.

Of course, I like any mention of a "hand". The hand is in charge here, with the ability to change everything. I appreciate the notion that power corrupts and brings temptation along with ultimate downside of having one's wishes granted.

It seems like all the words were carefully selected, I didn't see anything that didn't fit with the message conveyed to me as a reader.

You might want to pick a third genre, besides "Fantasy" and "Dark" like Environment or something else so that when people look for things to read in those genres, searching they find your poem. It might lead to more reviews and readers is what I'm suggesting.

Fine work - I enjoyed reading this and thinking about it.

What does tHiNg think about while perusing your item?

As I was reading, the suspense was building. I admit I didn't know where you were going with this. I won't give away the ending.

You might want to select more genres than just Action/Adventure, but ones that won't give away the ending. Maybe Drama would be a good choice, too? And maybe Experience or one of the others. It's good to select three as you will have people who search in genres for things to read.

Mowing the lawn is something I can definitely relate to. I did it for us and for my parents for many years and it definitely brings back a lot of memories.

What does tHiNg think about while perusing your item?

In the first stanza, you talk about appearance, the uniform you wear. The shoes being stiff and small really took me back in time. I would hop around in mine until they gave way because I cannot stand tight shoes.

Shades of brown and especially green sounds about right. I think that mine started out white and when they got green enough they were shifted to the mowing exercise. Sometimes I would accidentally get stains and a pair would be shifted sooner rather than later.

The second stanza involves attention to gathering and maintaining the equipment. I remember my Dad taking care of the maintenance part. The lawnmower I used was a self-propelled Toro so easier once it got rolling along.

The third stanza deals with the inevitable struggle at times to start the thing. Boy it felt good when it all kicked and the engine would purr.

Your last stanza really captures the part of the process I loved the most, without spelling it out. That was being able to see where I'd been and see where I needed to go - measure progress.

It was boring, at times, and tiring, but rewarding too.

You definitely took me back to my younger days, when life was a lot simpler somehow.

I'm with you in thinking that Disney has it right. You wrote this in 2005 and updated in 2016, but you say it was an essay for class.

Did you do any comparison to the Lily James version of the movie? I liked that a lot and I was trying to remember if that was similar to this Disney version or not.

I remember the step sisters being very lazy and Cinderella's father being very kind. He would never have left her in that situation if he had known what would happen.

Also, to me the mice friends make a big difference in how I see Cinderella because they are objective, on-the-scene observers of all the behaviors.

I enjoyed reading this and I think you did a fine job so you definitely deserved that "A" in the paper and for the class!

I like how you reveal the relationship with the father and sister through first person observation. An intervention seems like the only way fences might be mended.

I noticed this one paragraph, sort of in the middle, about 16 paragraphs or so down from the top. You have:

"n any event, my husband, whose other hobby is keeping me out of stores, wouldn’t dare turn stand in my way if I told I mentioned I was meeting my sister at the outlet mall...."

The word "turn" should be "try to" and "I told" should be removed. *Checkgr*

I especially like the idea of time travel and divine intervention mixed together. What could be a better purpose for a visit? To help and guide seems like something that would give meaning to any life, even a royal one.

I enjoyed reading your story. Hope my suggestions about the minor edits are helpful. I like the voice you use and the wry humor that is laced throughout. Getting along with family is a pretty universal dilemma of the historical and modern world. In other words, it's timeless.

I thought about all the bad behavior during the pandemic and the desire to get away, but being afraid to go. The great outdoors sounds pretty good in comparison.

This was pretty prescient. Written back in spring 2020, I'm not sure many thought the recurring lockdowns would last for so long and lead to some big changes along the way.

In hindsight a lot of the behaviors seem bizarre and even unbelievable. From the date, you even wrote this before the riots took hold.

I sort of suspected that telling someone about it (thus telling many since it was a reporter) would be the beginning of the end as some unwelcome company would inevitably join the narrator. You know how people play follow the leader sometimes with the Internet and the Newsmedia.

Well done - very intriguing tale, with a clever title. Mr. Rogers seems like a creature from the faraway past.

I thought about all the dumb things that I did when I was young and how I bet that there are things about our kids and grandkids that we will thankfully never know.

I saw this one typo in the 5th paragraph up from the end: "Her parents were going to be home in a few short hours and if she didn't have this place spotless by the time she got back, she might as well start looking into joining a convent...

The highlighted word "she" should be changed to "they" in this context.

What does tHiNg applaud about while reading your item?

This is so true to the age. The fact that she was thinking of attending this horrible gathering the following year (at another location that took less of a toll on her in a work sense) proves that no lesson had been learned. *Laugh*

Oh, the resilience of youth. This fills me with horror at my advanced age.

TO me, this was about being in a predicament where one is forced to lie to the self to have the strength to carry on.

The countdown part was chilling. It created an atmosphere of apprehension and foreboding. I wasn't sure if it was a chance to run or something else, maybe the perpetrator didn't want to carry through with it after all.

I liked the steady feeling throughout that the ending was somehow preordained. It felt like destiny took hold, but with a slight room for regret at not being able to change things or even fully understand the circumstances.

I thought about how we all are made up of these experiences that become memories, enhanced by family descriptions and tale over the years. We all are the sum of many parts, I reckon, whether having traveled (as is the case here) or staying put.

I loved the part about the "still" protective dog, whose instinct was to remain quiet and prevent a treacherous fall. Having that weight on the back upon waking, one's first inclination might very well be to move.

I wonder if the Greyhound busses still run. It's been a long time since I thought of one and what it meant to travel back in the good old days before cell phones ruined the world.

Wonderfully memorable poetry, I'd say.

What does tHiNg think about while perusing your item?

I thought the title was appropriate. We all change as we age. I would like to think that there is a lot of wisdom that comes with it, but I see things that cause me to not be as confident as I once might have been on that score.

Also, I question more of what I am told, but I learn to do it quietly because not everyone gets to the same level of understanding at the same point in life.

I identified strongly with the caterpillar analogy. Then the analogy of being cauterized in the end. I guess we all get to that point sooner or later.

Also, enjoyed the reference to "wisdom of time". That begs the question whether it is the time or the experience that brings the wisdom part. Some of both, I would imagine. Once in a while things are gradual and sort of sneak up on one.

Fine, thought provoking work as always.

I like that this gets you to write and think about a work that you love (Alice in Wonderland) and thinking about comparisons and how things are done and how you have enjoyed reading and imagining based on this work.

I know people who dread autumn. It is my favorite time of year.

I like how you switched it up and made autumn seem like a time of rebirth and rejuvenation. That is often reserved for spring following winter. I think autumn can be a renewal time too and a time to replenish strength to face the winter.

Lovely poem - I enjoyed reading it very much! I am looking forward to that season as well! Not a bad summer though so far, I have to moo.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

You can't go wrong with a bear in a stylish sweater. I thought this was delightful. This morning I was treated to a video of Queen Elizabeth II and Paddington Bear. With bears, the cuteness is part of the package.

I liked the suggestion of knitted socks, too. This is a bear who thinks ahead.

I especially liked how this flowed and that the bear was named, "Mary". That made me smile as it was my mother's name. This made me smile all the way through and I think you did a fine job with the rhyme.

Koalas are adorable, non-threatening bears.

This was my favorite part:

"Then she would have to wear glasses,👓
Have a daily dose of molasses.
She disliked the taste
Would screw up her face
Leave her tree and go roll in the grasses."

Wonderfully imaginative - well done for children of ALL ages!

They teach us so much, don't they? Mine did as well with her quiet ways. We are each so different and sometimes if there is an absence of nurturing in one generation another tries to make up for it.

*Cool**Idea*I thought about how choosing to be kind seems like the obvious choice in life to me. But you never know what experiences drives other people to be bullies.

I enjoyed the third stanza the most:

"The golden rule will get you through
And give each kid their proper due.
So look that bully in the eyes,
And they will get a huge surprise."

Bullies don't like to be disagreed with and it's in the news more and more these days.
