This item, "Last Day of Summer was written in 2005 and the writer, Angelica- House Florent B & W is Celebrating 15 Years of Membership at WDC ~ Congratulations!

*Apple**Quill* This is a charming vignette written about starting a new chapter in life, and meeting another Freshman at the college - hinting at all the possibilities which college offers. All the memories which are yet to be created. It puts one right back there - to experience it all again.

Review of At Peace
Rated: E | (4.0)
Happy 10th WDC Anniversary skycloudnz - It's time to review your work! *ThumbsUpL* *Smile* - Item "At Peace seems a good place to start.

*Apple**Quill* The writer has said that the poem is an expression on 'Thoughts On Being Alive' and again, the words esoteric and philosophical come to mind. The poem is Free Verse in style and reads with a nice flow.

This poem was written in 2011 by Devin who is Celebrating 10 Years of Membership at WDC this year! Congratulations!

*Apple* *Quill* This is an esoterical and philosophical piece which requires the reader to have an open mind - to be relaxed and accepting. A bit Zen...

Excerpt *Down*

There is nothing more meaningful,
And less significant,
Nothing more beautiful,
less perfect,
Nothing more blinding,
Less obstructed,
Nothing more free,
Less open

This item "The Old Iron Bunk Bed was written by Pat ~ Rejoice always! in 2008 and revised in 2011 - the writer is themselves being revisited to Celebrate their 13th WDC Anniversary this month!

*Apple**Quill* I loved all the descriptive scenes in this writer's piece. I was able to visualise this haven and I could easily see that such a place would always offer a refuge! *Delight*

My favorite place is not a stream where the water laughs and giggles as it dances over the stones in its way. I go back to an old iron bunk bed that sits at the end of a row of beds much like it. Near the bed, hangs a rickety screen door, all that stands between the bed and the woods nearby.

This piece of poetry (non rhyming) is a powerful piece of social commentary with overtones of spirituality and edginess. Written in 2014 - 7 years ago now, by abnormal2004
Ten Years ago - this writer joined WDC and we would like to help Celebrate that Anniversary with this writer!

*Apple**Quill* I was impressed - knocked side-ways, really - with the insight that this writer expressed their observations, below:

Waiting for their next paycheck.
Waiting for their next fix.
Waiting to die.
Nobody is really homeless.
They're all just waiting people

This delightful Christmas item was written on the 15th December in the year 2007 by Mrs Claus aka ShiShad who we are joining in Celebrating their 14th Year at WDC!

*Apple**Quill* I was frankly surprised at the current rating, because it really is good! Telling a delightful story that I would be happy to tell year after year to nephews, nieces and grandchildren - it rivals the traditional 'The Night Before Christmas' for my money! *Star*

Review of Cat Nap
Rated: E | (4.5)
"Cat Nap was written by GailS way back in 2005 - not long after they joined WDC, in fact! Happy 16th WDC Anniversary!

*Apple**Quill* After seeing a review of a photo item in the portfolio of this writer, on the reviewing page - I was curious - and decided to check some other items. I found this evocative and delightful piece!

Excerpt *Down*

Curled on his side,
one paw out, begging me to stroke
the delicate whisker ends at his wrist.
How can I disturb
a rest so peaceful and relaxed,
so confident of fulfillment?

This item was written by LittleJohn in 2007 and this year we Celebrate 14 Years at WDC with this writer! *ThumbsUpL* *Delight* ~ I found this piece of writing in their portfolio and, after reading through 2 or 3 other pieces, I decided to review this one! *BigSmile*

*Apple**Quill* The writer can spell something I can't! Tyrannosuarus *Laugh* I always have trouble with the amount of letters and characters! A great adventure story for children which would be fun to do graphics for! *Delight*

This item "I Once Did Enjoy Making Merry was written by SandraLynn Team Florent! last November - I'm guessing for ThanksGiving Time.

*Apple**Quill* What an entertaining verse from the POV of the Turkey, I presume. Well planned with contiguous sequencing to tell a fun story. Well done, I really enjoyed the clever wording.

Review of Dreams
Rated: E | (4.5)
"Dreams was written by Kalvin Camus in 2018 and this year, they are Celebrating their 8th WDC Anniversary!

*Apple**Quill* A poem of hope and perhaps, even the promise of hopes fulfilled - it doesn't have a technical rhyming schema but when said aloud, does have a rhythmic resonance and flow.

Review of All I need is you
Rated: E | (4.0)
"All I need is you was written by Zara this February! The writer is also up for Congratulations for having been a member for 19 years at WDC!

*Apple**Quill* As the writer says, it's a short poem - a romantic poem which expresses the sentiments of one who appears to be in the early part of a new relationship... ask that same person if that is how they feel 10 or 20 years later *Wink* - It does achieve a nice, rhythmic 'sound' to it, by the way.

Review of Lie to Me
Rated: ASR | (5.0)
"Lie to Me was written by Gwilym John in 2010 - and they have been a member since 2008 ~ Happy WDC Anniversary!

*Apple**Quill* I like this poem - it appears that the writer is uncovering a sanctimonious person's 'apparent do-gooder' act. We've all been a victim of that! Each stanza has a regular 'format' i.e. I notice that the first line doesn't appear to rhyme with the rest' which appears to be an otherwise abab schema. Well, I relished every line as a tasty morsel! *Wink*

Review of Random Kindness
Rated: 13+ | (4.5)
"Random Kindness was written not that long ago - 2021 Easter, I beleive - but it's a Christmas story written by flyfishercacher - Happy 5th WDC Anniversary!

*Apple**Quill* I liked the good deed premise behind the actual deed but I'm just not sure about the judgement - as the writer comments, themselves... during Covid's sudden shutdowns - many people who were gainfully employed and had huge financial commitments were made 'instant' poor-people through no other fault than some random government handling/mishandling of a World Wide Event! The real catastrophe was the amount of bankruptsies from businesses which happened.

*Apple**Quill* Still, one hundred dollars is a generous amount and would have been a great find for those people in the carpark, at that time of year! *Clap**Clap* *Smile*

Review of King Dog
Rated: E | (4.0)
"King Dog was written in 2013 and modified in 2020! Now in this year, Maryann - House Martell is Celebrating 19 Years at WDC! Happy Anniversary!

*Apple**Quill* This is a limerick: *smiile* A limerick is a humorous poem consisting of five lines. https://examples.yourdictionary.com/limerick-examp... - One doesn't see many limericks written these days.. (I can still remember a naughty one 'There Was An Old Lady from Cape Cod'... *Wink* - from my grandparent's day! What can I say? Fun and light hearted! Nicely set out on the page with colour and a doggy photo *Heart*

Review of I see the rain
Rated: E | (4.0)
"I see the rain was written by Lydia Davidson on 26th April in 2004. It's this member's 17th WDC Anniversary this month ~ Happy Anniversary!

*Apple**Quill* This poem has 5 Stanzas and every second line rhymes to create something of an ode to rain. It has a distinct sing-song effect when said out loud and conjurs up a pretty scene of a rainy day.

Review of The Fates
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
"The Fatesis written by Newbie Rune and shows lots of promise!

*Apple**Quill* What I enjoyed was the dramatic build of tension - the writer does this well and the end of the story completes the saga in an agreeable way i.e. the conclusion seems fitting given the direction the story has been leading the reader to imagine.. however there is a problem with the present and past tense within the story which needs to be addressed.

*Down*

Past Tense

It was late at night, later than the boy normally would have been out

and...

Present Tense
The boy spins around, disoriented, and shouts out something inaudible. His hands clasp his ears

*Apple* *Quill* Overall, I think that this writer has a very good ability to tell a story!

Review of Susan Smiled

"Susan Smiledis written by Jacky for the "Daily Flash Fiction Challenge and is a Winner! Of course! I always *Heart* Jacky's stories! This is a 'feel good' sketch which uses the prompt and is of course, under 300 words. What is remarkable is the dexterity of the writer who can drum up a new story to each daily prompt - every day!

"Able written by elizjohn on August 24th 2013 - and with their 10th WDC milestone this year ~ it is time to Wish Them a Very Happy Anniversary!

*Apple**Quill* A very short piece of flash fiction indeed - but full of suspense that left the reader hanging. Delicious!

*Clap* *Wink* That's what Flash Fiction is all about. The twist in the tale - ambiguity - mystery! This story has it all in under 100 words!

"Take the timewas written on April 14th 2011 by Devin - four days after this member joined WDC ~ 10 Years Ago! Happy WDC Anniversary!

*Apple* *Quill* An irregular rhyning sequence does not detract from the sagacity of this verse at all. In fact, it definitely commands the reader - words of wisdom indeed! *Clap**Delight*

"Father-Daughter Time was written by LOUISE KAY on May 19th 2007 - 14 years ago - and this month she celebrates 14 years of WDC Membership ~ Happy WDC Anniversary!

*Apple**Quill* I did really enjoy this tribute by the writer to her father - Dads can get a bad rap at times - but there are so many good things that they do for their families and are often the unsung heros of the family! I *Heart* this tribute! *Clap* *Delight*

Excerpt *Down*

He is still someone I can share just about anything with. We trade stories and jokes as well as more serious topics and information. He and my Mom are two of my best friends. And for me it all started with him teaching me how to ride a bike. That first true one-on-one bonding time has been the cornerstone for a relationship that has spanned nearly 45 years now and still going strong.

"Two April Limericks is written by Anniversary WDC Writer of 10 years, Alvin Maker - who has a couple of really good limericks on offer! Cracking! I only know one, which my Grandfather taught me - and is quite ... er... rude *Blush* There was an old lady from Cape Cod...

*Apple**Quill* I looked limerick up to see what it is that defines one: *Down* Take Note!

The rhythm of a limerick is anapestic, which means two unstressed syllables are followed by a third stressed syllable.

Well ~ there you have it! *Clap* *Smile* And Happy Anniversary To You!
