Review of Cold Stew
Rated: 18+ | (5.0)
"Cold Stew is a ripping tale by miikepic - An Anniversary Member who is celebrating 19 Years at WDC
*Clap**Delight* - What a story! The suspense builds - it has a twist in the tale - all my favourite ingredients! A great ending by the way. *Heart* it!

"The astral collection written by AnaStar is a subject that is interesting - I could swear that I enjoyed these kinds of 'dream journeys myself, as a child and can remember a 'dream' where I couldn't any longer 'get off the ground'. The absence or loss of innocence, perhaps? This story is part of other installments, I believe - add the little girl brings items back from her travels - that's interesting from a physics point of view too! *Clap**Delight* Very entertaining!

Review of Rate Yourself!
Rated: E | (4.5)
"Rate Yourself! is a poll where the lowest and highest stars got the least amount of votes! *Think* Hmmn... My vote choice got the highest which is about right for most WDC writers - who I think are pretty darn good!

*Apple**Quill* Well, the REAL purpose for being here today is to wish you
A Happy 19th WDC Member Anniversary! *Clap**Smile*

Review of WHAT THE SPELL?!?
Rated: E | (5.0)
"WHAT THE SPELL?!? written by Anniversary Member Angus was written about this time of year - back in 2014 - so it's having a well deserved airing.

*Apple**Quill* The story is about some cartoon characters most of us who are over 45 will remember, Betty, Archie and Veronica. What happens to foil Betty's intentions sounds like MY kind of luck! And the wizard's rationale is the sort of wisdom one can live without!

*Apple**Quill* Well written and very entertaining! *Clap* *Delight*

Review of Witless Wendy
Rated: E | (4.0)
"Witless Wendy was written by Shannon way back in September 2007, so it's time this item had an airing for the Anniversary of this member!

*Apple**Quill* Who is "Witless Wendy? and why is she being victimised? *Laugh* Well - she's not! This item is a tongue twister and I invite you to give it a try yourself! *Laugh*

James A. Osteen Jr. wrote a poetry item, "A Lonely Silhouette about a mother grieving over the loss of a child. Technically, there are four-line stanzas with every second line rhyming - and I think comes under the classification *Right* Alternate rhyme: It is also known as ABAB rhyme scheme, it rhymes as “ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH - for those, like me, who find it a little difficult to remember all the rules.

*Apple**Quill* It is poignant and every mother can feel sympathy for this woman - it is certainly what every mother dreads. For those who are fortunate to see our children mature and have families of their own, would know that they have been especially blessed.

Hello Maryann - House Martell and Happy Anniversary! I looked for an item that was fun, short and sweet! " Survivor of Gilligan's Island Poll fits all that criteria *Delight*

I chose Thurston Howell because - in the real world because: 'a millionaire used to luxurious living and never does any work' and I thought that this should work because that's how it seems in the 'real world.'

Anyway - enough fun! Time to get things done!

Review of Office Romance
Rated: E | (5.0)
"Office Romance by Chris Breva is a 75 word Contest Entry written 4 years ago on January 21st, 2017. A nicely rounded vignette - which also happens to read as a complete little story. Chris' is celebrating something else this month though ~ and so I wish Chris Happy 8th Anniversary at WDC! *Thumbsupl* *Smile*

"The Cart Attendant written by The Wolf Emperor An ambitiously plotted detective-style story with ostensibly logical, consequential steps to a conclusion. However, I found it a little difficult to follow at times, and that's because some aspects were given greater prominence than others' for reasons I couldn't see were necessary or justified.

*Apple**Quill* And then there was another problem: What was the motive for the attempted murder? Had the friends fallen out? This aspect should've been given greater attention, rather than Aiden's condition - which didn't really center the story or justify the direction of the story. Overall the story has loads of potential - but I think it needs some tweaking.

*Type* Some little things need attention *Down*

Aiden stormed up to the break room, relieved that ?--? one else there.

He folded his vest neatly (and?) placed it on the nearest table

Review of Gilda Locksley
Rated: E | (5.0)
"Gilda Locksley was written for the "Daily Flash Fiction Challenge by The Wolf Emperor and is a twist on an old tale. It has all the components that the contest requires! Conflict - Character - Resolution and a bit of a twist in the tale!

*Apple**Quill* Robert Southey wrote the original Goldilocks' - in 1837 - but this modern 2021 version is just as entertaining and imaginative.

"A well-placed couch written for the "Daily Flash Fiction Challenge by kirsgrabarek - An extremely worthy contender! Nothing pedestrian about the lateral perspective of this writer who has loads of imaginative ways of telling a simple story - all under the required 300 words, too! *Delight*

*StarB* What a great read - not to mention some great decorating ideas and concepts!

Review of The Fish
Rated: E | (4.5)
"The Fish written by TheLoneWriter for "Daily Flash Fiction Challenge - Whether or not this story won - I don't know - I haven't checked but right away, I fell inlove with the descriptive writing which I've taken the liberty to excerpt. It also had a mysterious ending! *Shock2*

What I liked *Down*

*Apple**Quill* On the other side of the trench, the land ascends. There had been a hard rain the day before, so there was rushing water separating the two hills instead of a dry trough. This was, of course, pleasing to all of us. There is something about rushing water.

Review of Taxes

"Taxes is written by Jacky for "Daily Flash Fiction Challenge and is one of their best!

*MugR* It has the three components off pat: Character - Conflict - Resolution - and the delicious twist in the tale - the icing on the cake! Time for a coffee break, for me too!

"A Town's Sacrifice written by Rae for the Daily Flash Fiction Contest
using the prompt integrated into a mini horror story. All stories for this contest must be completed in 300 words or less, so the writers who attempt it are quite clever. It's a kind of puzzle, as one of the participants once told me.

*Apple**Quill* There is no twist in the tale - infact there seems to be an open ended finish but it still seems complete - quite clever. As it is, the writer could continue with a longer story, but it is a finished story, as it is. Well done!

Review of The Simpler Life
Rated: E | (4.0)
"The Simpler Life written by Sailor M for the "Daily Flash Fiction Challenge is a very pleasant family homily. Well told and with a completed story arc - it also included the prompt given, appropriately.

*MugR* No twist in the tale though, which is something Flash Fiction is frequently - though not exclusively - known for. A pleasant read with my cup of tea *Wink*

"Doing Time for the Crime written for "Daily Flash Fiction Challenge by the Winner for the Day - Dan I Am ~ Congratulations!

*BalloonB* *ConfettiP*The writer did everything right! Using the prompt in a well integrated way with the three elements: Character - Conflict - Resolution (and Twist in the Tale) - to achieve a first rate story!

Review of Irregular Holes
Rated: E | (4.0)
"Irregular Holes written by Newbie, BariRandom just a couple of days ago! I loved the graphic which accompanies the poem, and that drew me to the poem in terms of what made it stand out, initially.

*Quill**Glasses* What I liked

I really did enjoy the verse, which is about a phenomenon of nature - the erosion of rock and the beauty that the vision from either beach or desert - can inadvertently design. Well done - the poem was very affecting.

Review of Who Knew
Rated: E | (3.0)
"Who Knew is written by Newbie, Smartie and is a free verse style of poem. It's relatable and the subject of lost friendship is one that never gets easier in its experience - whether one is young or old. Sometimes writing about the loss helps and a forum like WDC facilitates an environment of response, of a kind. Keep writing - practice makes perfect, they say. *ThumbsUpL* *Smile*

Free Verse
Free verse is an open form of poetry, which in its modern form arose through the French vers libre form. It does not use consistent meter patterns, rhyme, or any musical pattern. It thus tends to follow the rhythm of natural speech.

*Quill**Glasses* What I liked

The subject matter: the topic is relatable and is not overly sentimental but strikes a good balance between lament and resignation. Well Done! *ThumbsUpL* *Smile*

Review of Don't Touch That
Rated: ASR | (5.0)
QueenNormaJeanGreeneggs&vegham has created a winning entry to the "Daily Flash Fiction Challenge with "Don't Touch That. *Crown* NJ is a ... Mistress of the Flash Fiction genre - very polished, following all the prompts to create a drama (which is also oddly comedic... is that because I'm getting tired and my humor is warped? *Think* - Well, my eyes raced over the story to find out just what was going on! Very entertaining NJ! *ThumbsUpL* *Smile*

l *Heart* ed it!

*Type* Just one line of little errors *Down*
