This lovely poem I feel, describes the role of mothers everywhere perfectly. I often remember, with great fondness and deep love for my mother, the times she has been there for me throughout various points in my life.

Thank you for reminding me what a wonderful influence my mother continues to be in my life.

Review of Homeless Poems
Rated: E | (5.0)
Thank you for uploading such a thought provoking and well-written poem. As I saw the verses in their entirety, I realized you were writing about refugees. This is a good way to highlight the plight of people displaced from their homes due to war. It certainly got me thinking about this.

Plus, there is one fact you didn't mention, the sober person of the bunch can always embarrass the ones who were drunk with their antics! It is no bad thing to be sober all of the time. I don't imbibe alcohol by choice, plus I promised my dad I wouldn't. Still this is a very good way to state not indulging in the amber nectar all the time is a good thing!

Even though I've been here for two years now, I still appreciate the fact more experienced members have taken the time, plus possessed more patience than I have, in taking the initiative to write this.

In fact, this ex-newbie, plus learner is very grateful for items such as this one. I've placed this on my Favourites list!

Review of My Breakfast
Rated: E | (4.5)
This definitely sounds like something I would have done as a child. Well, coming from a rather large family, I'd shared the cake with my many siblings! This does bring back many great memories of the times I did have cake, just not for breakfast!

Despite the fact I am of one of the generations of the 1980's and 1990's, I am used to sending emails and using the mobile phone when I really have to, as a child I used to receive letters from penpals growing up and when I became a young woman.

There is nothing better than opening a handwritten letter from someone you know, as it shows the time and attention they made when they wrote that letter and mailed it to you. E-mail isn't better, snail mail is!

For such a short piece of fiction, this possesses rather a lot of potential. And I mean novel potential. For more than one genre, especially fantasy, paranormal, mystery or science fiction, to name a few! Your writing is very detailed and descriptive. I could even picture the dust on the old, faded foam backing. Well done.

Ooh, I remember playing these games as a youngster back in the early 1990s. Reading through this brought back some fun memories of watching my younger brothers play through the various Super Mario games Nintendo brought out over the years on the range of machines they produced.

HAPPY TIMES!

Just a point though, ever thought of putting in attacks based under water? Apart from that, no complaints!

Review of Tom's Birthday

I must say, despite having a love of reading fantasy, I also enjoy reading dystopian fiction. I stumbled across this entry when going through the Daily Read and Review.

Well done on such a fine short story. For such a short piece it is very finely crafted and plotted out. I got a sense of the world you've created rather quickly. I got the impression this story is set in the far future, when humanity has discovered interstellar travel and vacated a ecologically ruined Earth.

This has the potential to be a great novel as there is a lot to be explained and explored. If you ever decide to expand this, drop me an email. I'd be glad to read it if you ever do!

Thank you StoryMistress for providing us WDC members a way to earn GPs through a means other than competitions. You've also provided information on how the various review systems work. I've since learned after reading this, there are more ways to earn GPs through just reviewing every day!

Thank you for the information you've painstakingly collated here. I'm very grateful!

Review of humidity
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
You've perfectly described a typical summer day over here in England! Very humid, barely able to breathe, people getting rather irritated and fervently praying for rain!

I often feel this particular mood on the way to work, even plaintively hpoing for autumn when the temperature hits over 30 C!

Well done for writing this, you craft poetry very well indeed!

Review of Disillusionment
Rated: E | (5.0)
Very good poem you have crafted and uploaded here on WDC for us all to read. People do possess illusions about themselves. I know I do, always thinking up some fantastical way of how I can improve myself or live a better way.

But fantasy and illusions can be shattered and real life created. Thanks for giving me the kick I needed to see through illusion and to what I could be!

This seems rather interesting. I do have to ask, what type of novel does this seem to be plotted for? A historical fiction of some sort with a hint of truth to it? If you ever do post said novel here, I'd love to read it.

Plus, thanks for the little history lesson at the end of this Octoprep piece. I enjoyed reading it!

Welcome to WDC and a huge thank you for posting this chapter for me to read! Already I can see you are an excellent writer. This shows very clearly through the wonderful phrasing and pacing of the paragraphs. The main FMC has already shown herself to be a rather sassy and feisty young lady.

Unlike myself, you take your time and it seems, at least to me, you only post your chapters when you deem it is ready for posting!

Thanks again for teaching me this!

Regards,

After reading this, I thought nice to know the daily life of a fly sitting on a pipe! I wonder what flies are privy to as they sit on various man made objects in people's homes!

Still, it seemed to me that nature has created perfect eavesdroppers in the fly! Well done for such a unique poem, I enjoyed it!

Review of Atlas

Welcome to WDC!

Was this poem based on the legend of Atlas who had been condemned by the Greek gods, I think-to bear the weight of the world upon his shoulders?

You've described perfectly, at least to me, what Atlas goes through with the burden he has to bear. Well done for such a good upload here on WDC!

Review of Rains Bow
Rated: E | (4.5)
To me, the treasure would be the Rain's bow. Gold is all well and good, but true beauty can be found in nature.

Just as you described, nature is beautiful in all the forms it chooses to take. Ecellent use of phrasing and the word rhymes in the sentences add to the mystical feel of the whole poem.

Well done!

Thanks for such an interesting puzzle. William the Conquerer did change rather alot concerning English society back then didn't he? I've actually seen the Domesday book he ordered his staff to create. It is in the Tower of London. Thanks for reminding of that visit with this great word search.

Review of Queen Mary I
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
Ooh, a poem concerning the daughter of Catherine of Aragon and Henry the VIII. One fact I can supply for you, Jane Seymour managed to reconcile Mary with her father when she was 17 years old. I did spot one error, she is the daughter of Henry VIII not VII.

But apart from that, a good poetic description of one of Englands most bloodiest of Queens.

Well done.

Review of The Cage

This really made me laugh as I read through this short story. A strong barbarian, brought low by drink and a woman in a bra. I howled with laughter at that point. Another of my favourite parts was the description of the court wizard. I had expected an old man, but the picture of the warty old woman was unexpected and rather funny.

I believe this could be extended into a novel. Perhaps a smart companion for the dumb barbarian? I could read a novel like that!

Ooooh, lookie here! New stuffies for me to read and lots of it! As for psych meds, don't need them! Being sane is overated anyway! I'd rather be slightly nuts and have fun with reading your stuff. When this quirky page with all of the posts popped up in the random reviews, I had to peruse it.

I'm glad I did. Now I'm going to try and read it all! After I find most of my missing marbles, aka brains that somehow got loose!

Ahhh, so this Maddie's bio. I read an excerpt from a chapter you wrote for the 'Character Clash' tournament. You have a good, basic character bio here. I love the information you already have here. But I do have a slight suggestion, perhaps you could expand on her traits etc.

Is Maddie mechanically inclined? perhaps include her aspirations for that? Otherwise, no complaints from me!

Welcome to WDC and thanks for uploading this Steampunk chapter. I love Steampunk and when this popped up in the Random Review Rewards this grabbed my attention. Maddie seems to be a great character, not a stereotypical female character. She is gutsy, intelligent and not afraid to speak her mind. I'm interested in Doctor Plumpocket.

Is he a mentor for Maddie? Although with the large crowd at Clockwork Manor, either something nefarious happened to the good Doctor, or he blew an experiment up.

I hope you expand on this, I love reading Steampunk!

Welcome to WDC and thank you for uploading a chapter that shows potential. You've obviously gotten to grips with WritingML, a skill I'm still trying to achieve, so well done on that score.

I didn't spot any glaring errors and superfluous punctuation. I tend to overdo that sometimes. I just wanted to ask, is this a Teen/YA/Middle Grade science fiction or fantasy novel?

I know there is some type of power, whether psychic or magical involved, due to the events of the last few paragraphs at the bottom of the chapter. Perhaps the young female character is experiencing an awakening of some sort? It seems that way to me!

Anyway, well done on such a fine first upload here on WDC!

Review of Sanctuary
Rated: E | (5.0)
I just wanted to ask, how many types of poetry forms do you know of and write? You are obviously good at writing poetry from reading this. For some reason when I read this, thoughts of this poem being fantasy based came to mind.

Like being in an elven sanctuary, watching the crystal waters flow from the highest reaches as a translucent shimmer.
