I like to read novels and biographies, so if I can review them at the same time, why not. My ratings are usually at the high end because I think if someone has taken the time and effort to write a large piece, it is an achievement. The review will give the opportunity to flag up typographic errors. I do not mark down ratings for these errors because they are easily fixed.

A well-written and interesting chapter which answers the questions posed in the last chapter. The way that the parts of this story fits together and flows is skillfully done. The last sentence is a surprise twist and ensures I will read on. No errors noted, as usual.

Another action-packed chapter with plenty of suspense. The female demon shows up in this chapter and seems quite formidable. I can't understand how Charmian was not killed when the demon attacked. Hopefully, it will be explained in the next chapter. I will also need to read on to see if Drake survived the fall off of the cliff.

Review of Part 30: Merger
Review by Bruce.
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
Quite a lot in this part with the, as yet, not materialised demons requesting help from Charmian. Charmian's character is getting stronger as we progress through the story and not just the young schoolgirl we were introduced to at the start. One thing I have noticed so far is that the author is a master at giving a good hook at the end of each part.

As I see it, a good caricature of a creature who appears to be wicked but is not all bad. He comes to the rescue although fears for his own well being as well as others. As with a lot of the previous parts, this can be a story within a story. And as usual it has a good hook ending.

Charmian sets off to meet the demon father. This turns out to be an adventure within an adventure. Saved from drowning by a creature that doesn't like her. But he has no choice, I think. Servant of the demon he has to present her to him. The father curses when they meet and I wonder what lies ahead for her in a position where there is no escape. She will be safe, of course, but I need to find out how.

It is good to temporarily return to where the story began to find the means to perhaps solve the problem. Another well-written and interesting chapter. It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into developing this story. I look forward to reading on.

In some fantasy type stories, I have difficulty in the suspension of disbelief. This is not the case here. Could I believe that someone can enter into someone else's dreams and seek advice from them? No usually but in this case, I am there with the character and can almost feel and see what they feel and see. This is yet another entertaining part with a good hook at the end.

Just when I thought a great story could not get any better, along comes Part 25. This is a skillful construction of a new thread to the tale. This story seems to have many threads but they are all skillfully written and all have a place in the story without any confusion. As usual, I didn't spot any errors, but really who cares? This is story telling at its very best.

Don't you like the bad guys getting a good beating? Especially from a young girl who becomes a formidable creature. But then the story slows down to a rescue attempt, but the suspense is still high. Two more characters join us in this fascinating tale. The writing remains to a high standard and the desire to read on is equally high following another good end hook.

Blimey, what an exciting chapter. I was not expecting anything like this. This kept me on edge all through and gave the feeling of being there amongst the action. A brilliant piece of fictional writing suspence. I can't wait to find out what happens next. In fact, I won't, I'm off to the next part.

Another good part, although there is a bit I don't understand. "To which the voice replied," No indication to who this refers to or who's voice it is. There is an indication that Red Bird might visit the human's land, although I could be getting that wrong. I will have to wait and see.
It looks as if the action is about to get intense as the bad female demom's servant brings a serious threat to the group.

This continues to be an entertaining and well-written read. The author shows talent by showing suspense in almost every part; this one included. Also we nearly always are left with a question to be answered in a later part. This one, as well as a good hook at the end, asks; what is the friction between Tal and Justin? A great addition to the story. A story of many threads, but I am able to follow them all without confusion.

So, I was expecting trouble, but the creature was friendly. A good bit of plotting to give the reader a pleasant surprise. A new human character is also introduced but the reader would be aware of his presence on the island. Although the danger was short-lived the suspense remained throughout making this another enjoyable and interesting part.

A likable chapter and a good read as we follow Charmian as she goes to find her friends. Good descriptive text and we fear that trouble lays ahead for her in the woods especially when she loses her way. The hook at the end is brilliant and ensures most readers would at least take a peek at the next chapter to see what is about to happen. Good writing and storyline, as usual, with no errors noticed.

The writing continues in a standard that is good for me. Obviously, it has been well proofed by the writer as I have found no typo's throughout. In this part, we are introduced to more characters/creatures. This could become a bit confusing if more are added at this rate, but for now, I am managing to follow it okay. A lot of the parts have very good hooks at the end and this one is another of them. I look forward to finding out the implications of that hook.

Pesky commas. I usually get them right but sometimes I find it easy to get confused, as in this sentence. I have read about usage in many books, but none have been as helpful and straight forward as this item. It is laid out well with Error and Correct examples. All I need is to study the text and I am sure that my comma usage will improve.

Another good chapter with plenty of action and suspense. Towards the end, I thought they were fearing the arrival of the female demon, but it was the weaker male. It was well done to have given me that impression. It leaves me with the thought: if they are that scared of the male what will the stronger female be like. Again I spotted no errors, but I would probably not have noticed if there were, such was my interest.

Now, this is getting really good. This part has me on the edge of my seat, so to speak. There is so much going on and it flows very well and takes us along with it. The writing and storyline continue to be impressive. I am eager to read more and see how they take on and defeat the evil one. A recommended read.

New characters add to the mix at the start and near the end. I was a bit fooled, probably intentionally, by the author, in believing that the nasty gang had returned. As it turned out they were good guys; brilliantly done. Glad to see that X is on the mend. This part finishes with, perhaps, a bit of possible romance. I wonder.

Another great action-packed part. My earlier comment that the story is suitable for all ages now seems a bit premature, and the 13+ rating that it has seems to be the correct one given the violence, but that was my mistake and not the authors. I enjoyed the read although I was a bit puzzled as to why the creatures retreated from Red Bird as we know nothing about her which could cause this. But like other questions in this tale, I am sure we will find out as we proceed.

A great chapter and my favourite so far. The other chapters were well written and interesting but this one was full of suspense and action. The new characters were a good addition to the story and the ending was, as usual, a great hook and a firm prompt for me to read on. Very well done with no typo's noticed.

This part starts with a trek to a new place but then we get to see an action-packed ending that keeps the reader in suspense as to what is about to happen. A great hook at the end ensures that I am eager to read on. Very well written as usual and I spotted no errors.

A good chapter which answers some readers' questions from a previous chapter: Why has Charmian been picked, why does her mother and the shopkeeper act the way they do? The answers are here. We also meet Red Bird who seems a bit more timid than I expected, but no doubt that will change. I like the way this is progressing and it seems to be a story suitable for all ages.
