Overall Impression: Young love! So passionate and emotional! You describe some of those feelings well. I thought your word choice was good, and the flow of your poem was smooth.

Suggestions/Errors: I think you might have a "typo" in line 2 of the 4th verse. You wrote "Hoping my sisters hadn't over heart what I had said..." I think you might have meant to write "Hoping my sisters hadn't overheard what I had said..." (This is only a suggestion.)

Overall Impression: I read this piece several years ago, and reviewed it privately. However, I came across it this morning in "Random Review" and thought I would review it again. It is a lovely story of a lonely young woman who is given a beautiful Christmas gift. It lifts her spirits and gives her lonely life a "new song". Thank you for sharing! I thought the free verse lines were lovely and that they painted a story almost like a fairytale.

Overall Impression:A strong piece about a mother that couldn't function in that capacity. Sad! There are many cases like this one where the child is left to be raised by other family members and always feels the void left by the absence of the mother. Sometimes, the child feels that the blame lies within themselves that their parent couldn't bear up to familial responsibilities. I pray for mothers who are like the ones you speak of. I have such a close bond with my children, that it is hard for me to imagine not wanting to nurture, protect, and love them. I appreciate your telling this plight in your free-style piece.
